Chapter 5
"Wait what?" Christian asked.
"Give me my mate." Jackson responded, once again reaching for me.
"Okay she isn't going anywhere with you until you calm down." he said, pulling me closer.
Even though part of me was terrified to get closer to him, I knew that he wouldn't calm down otherwise, especially since I couldn't talk to him. So I slowly made my way over to Jackson and hoped that I could calm him down. Once I made it out from behind Christian both his and Jackson's eyes snapped to me.
"Leana what are you doing?"
I just held up my hand to let him know I'll be okay. At least I hope I'll be okay. Slowly I walked closer as his eyes bore into me, trying not to make any sudden movements. When I got close enough Jackson reached out and pulled me into his arms and placed his nose in the crook of my neck to inhale my scent. Shortly after his wolf started to relax and he started to regain control.
"Leana?" he asked, suddenly causing me to start to pull away. "I'm sorry for scaring you"
I backed up a little before signing that it was okay and that I understand he couldn't control it.
"I think we all should go somewhere because we have a few things to discuss." Christian said, coming up to stand by Jackson and me.
Jackson nodded in agreement. "Do either of you live nearby?"
"Leana does, Miss Mary should be at work right now right?" Christian asked.
I nodded before signaling them to follow me. We grabbed our stuff from our lockers before letting the office know we were leaving, and headed out to the parking lot. Seeing as Jackson had to drive here whereas Christian and I walked we all piled into Jackson's car and made our way to my foster home. It took us almost no time at all thankfully, seeing as it was so close by.
"So who is Miss Mary?" Jackson asks as we get out of the car.
"Miss Mary is Leana's foster mom." Christian answered as I unlocked the door to let everyone inside.
Before Jackson could ask any more questions, I ushered us all into the dining room. While Christian and Jackson got situated I got everyone a glass of water before sitting down with Christian sat to my right and Jackson sat in front of me.
"Okay Jackson, any questions you have we will answer right here."
"I assume you know the biggest question I have." Jackson responded.
"Why can't I speak, right?" I signed.
He only nodded in response. I looked at Christian to signify that I wanted him to explain. It was easier that way.
"Well, when she was really, really young her mother died in her sleep. No one knows exactly why she died and not knowing made her father go mad. He quickly turned abusive, and paranoid. He became convinced that someone was sent to kill his mate, but he was lucid enough to know that all he was doing to Leana was wrong and she would be taken away if she ever told anyone what was going on." Christian began.
Jackson's eyes widened in both shock and anger, as Christian continued the anger just became more and more prominent.
"So to prevent that he took her to a human surgeon a few towns away and forced him to conduct a complete cordectomy. Meaning he forced the surgeon to remove Leana's vocal cords to prevent her from telling anyone about the abuse. This of course backfired and when they made it back to pack territory he was taken to the pack dungeons until he confessed to everything he had done."
"Where is he now?" Jackson asked after taking a few deep breaths to calm himself.
"As time went his condition got worse and it got to the point that he was such a danger to himself and others the Alpha decided the best course of action was to execute him." Christian answered. "And that also answers what I assume your next question to be. Why Leana is in a foster home."
"Actually my next question is how did you handle all of that so well?" Jackson asked looking at me in what I could only describe as awe.
"I'm not gonna lie, it took me many years before I could even come to terms with what happened. But after I did I realized that there was nothing I could do to change my past. All I could do was learn to accept what happened and forgive my father. However, there are still nights where I wake up in fear from nightmares about the memories that still haunt me." I answered.
"What do you do when that happens?"
"Usually I can bring myself back to reality and calm down on my own, but on nights that are really bad I can call Christian for help."
"Wow." he exclaimed leaning back in his chair as he tried to take in all the information that was thrown at him.
"You know what Leana?" he asked after a few moments of tense silence. "If you can go through that and come out so strong, I know you will make a fantastic Luna."
"Are you sure?" I asked as reality started to hit me.
"100 percent." he answered smiling. "But until then we should get to know each other better, don't you think?
"I think that's a great idea." I responded as a small smile made its way to my face.
We all decided to make lunch due to the fact that our lunch was interrupted. Thankfully Jackson knew how to cook because the only thing I knew how to cook was ramen, and Christian was even worse. The only thing he could make was a sandwich, and even that was pushing it. So as we ate the delicious food Jackson made, all three of us slowly got to know each other. As I thought about what my future had in store, all I could do was hope for the best. Not only for me, but also our two packs.
