Chapter 47 Forty-Seven
“The driver?”
Mr. Caloway glanced at his wife.
“Why? If I may ask, Detective Lizzy?”
Seems they trust him.
“He is a suspect.”
“But Matt is a good boy, and all he does is drive her to school, bring her home from school, and drive her anywhere she wants to go.”
These people have no idea.
“And where is the driver now?”
“At home,”
“Wasn’t he the one who drove her out yesterday?”
“Yes, Detective Lizzy. But when we asked him, he said he didn't know where Emma went. He said she only ordered him to drop her at the bus stop.”
“Just give me his information.”
I passed them a paper, and the husband filled out the information.
“Please, Detective Lizzy, help us bring Emma back alive, we don't want to lose her now, she is our only girl child, and we want to see her succeed in life just like her brothers.”
Aw, what a lovely family.
“Any amount of money you want, we will give it to you, just name it.”
The woman sobbed.
“I don't need your money, I am being paid by the government. Give me two days and your daughter will be back, either alive or dead.”
I shrugged my shoulders and picked up the paper.
“We pray she doesn't die.”
I waved my fingers and they left.
“Do you think this case is related to the serial killers too?”
The officer asked as we left the headquarters.
“Of course not, it isn't. This is a case of LOVE.”
I laughed, but he looked confused.
“Love?”
Great!
“Just come with me and you will understand what I mean.”
He nodded his head and we got inside the car and drove out of the headquarters.
We arrived at Calloway's mansion a while later and I was directed to Emma’s room.
As the only girl, her room is indeed so pretty and girlish.
But admiring the room wasn't what brought me to the house,
I opened her closet, but there were just a few dresses in it which means she packed them and left with them.
Her dressing table was empty, her shoe rack and bag rack were empty too, and a lot of her jewelry was gone.
“She ran away,”
The officer said and I gave him a thumbs up.
“Now you understand what I mean?”
He nodded his head and gasped.
“But how can a girl that age think of running away from home? Is she going through a tough time with her parents?”
“Nope, her parents love her and care for her. She is only experiencing first love and thinks running away is the best thing.”
I explained and he shook his head.
“Teenagers.”
He sighed.
I checked her drawer where she kept most of her books and found a diary inside.
Just as I had thought, she ran away from home to stay with her boyfriend whom she loves so much.
“But why did she take a huge amount of money from her mum?”
Isn't it obvious?
The guy whom she fell in love with isn't from a well-to-do family so, she decided to support their relationship by taking that money from her mum.
“I hope he hasn't used this opportunity to kill her.”
I returned the diary, chuckling.
“No, he also loves her.”
As soon as we left the room, we heard the voices of people arguing in the living room downstairs.
When we arrived, a teenage boy was holding the collar of another teenage boy who must be the same age as him, 19.
“He knows where she is, Dad, you have to believe me,”
The other boy shouted in anger.
“What is wrong with you, Jason? We have already told you to leave this boy alone, he isn't that kind of person!”
She pulled him away from the boy.
“How many times will I tell you that I have caught them countless times, kissing in the car or the garden?”
Woohoo!
Interesting.
I leaned on the wall, folded my arms, and crossed my legs, watching the interesting drama in front of me.
“Should I intervene?”
The officer asked, but I stopped him.
“But why? They are arguing.”
Ahhh,
Is it too hard to understand what is going on?
“The boy who is shouting is Emma’s elder brother, and that boy over there is Emma’s driver. Jason thinks Emma and the driver are in love and he was the one who took her away from the house.”
“Wow!”
He exclaimed,
“Detective Lizzy?”
When Mr. Casper called, Jason veered around.
He hurried to me and grabbed my hand.
“Detective Lizzy? Thank goodness you aren't dead. Please tell my parents that that jerk over there knows where my sister is, I know you are smart and you've found out the truth already.”
What a good boy, he knows smart people when he sees them.
“Detective Lizzy, forget him, he is out of his mind.”
I turned to the driver who was standing behind Mrs. Calloway sadly.
“Come here,”
I motioned to him and he did.
“Where did you drive Emma to yesterday?”
He nervously glanced at me and lowered his head again.
“I…I took her where she…she ordered me.”
He stuttered.
“Where?”
“The bus stop,”
“Mtsss”
Jason hissed loudly.
“That is a lie, Detective Lizzy. Hans knows where…”
I raised my hand, interrupting him.
“Leave Hans alone,”
I said and he gasped.
He didn't believe I would side with Hans too, just like his parents.
“See? Even Detective Lizzy knows you are out of your mind. Now go to your room, you are grounded!”
Jason angrily stormed towards the stairs, thumped on the stairs, and slammed his room’s door.
“When you drove her out of the house, was she with her luggage?”
He shook his head.
“No, she was alone.”
Hmmm
“But when I checked her room, her dresses, shoes, bags, and a lot of things were gone.”
“I didn't see any of that, Detective Lizzy.”
I patted his shoulder and turned to the confused couple.
“Emma has fallen in love with a boy and ran away to go stay with him.”
“What!”
They were dumbstruck.
