Chapter 37

★SELENA'S POV★

Our lips were about to touch when we were suddenly interrupted by my annoying best friend, Tatiana.

"Hey Selena!" Tatiana called my name loudly from the front door.

'Fuck! Why did she have to come out now?' I groaned inwardly, and Brad quickly took a step back, then cleared his throat nervously.

I averted my gaze to Tatiana who was now approaching us. Her gaze was fixed on Brad as she continued walking towards us.

"Brad, meet Tatiana, my best friend." I said immediately Tatiana got to us.

"Hi Tatiana!" Brad smiled at her, but she said nothing in response. She was just staring at his face and I knew she was admiring him.

"Brad, meet my best friend, Tatiana." I introduced Tatiana to Brad.

"Nice to meet you, Tatiana." Brad said, stretching his hand towards Tatiana for an handshake.

"Nice to meet you too, Brad." Tatiana shook hands with him with a wide smile plastered on her face. Tatiana kept holding Brad's hand for about a minute and she didn't want to let go of his hand.

Brad chuckled nervously as Tatiana kept shaking him, and he glanced at me.

"That's enough handshake, Tatiana." I pulled Tatiana's hand away from Brad's, and she frowned at me.

"Thanks again for today, Brad. I'll see you some other time." I said, and I quickly dragged Tatiana away before she does something stupid.

Something stupid like kissing Brad or hugging him. Tatiana does crazy things whenever she meets an handsome guy.

I took Tatiana inside the house and shut the door.

"Who was that handsome and sexy man?" She asked, going to the window to look at Brad.

"Like I said earlier, he is my new friend." I replied as I sat on a couch.

"Your new friend or your new boyfriend?" She questioned, averting her gaze to me.

"We are just friends." I replied, and she smirked before walking away from the window to sit beside me.

"Do you like him?" She asked with a naughty smirk across her lips.

"Who?" I asked back, feigning stupidity.

"Don't feign stupid, Selena. You already know who I am talking about." She replied.

"Brad?"

"Yes, of course." She replied. "Do you like him?"

"I like Brad, but I only like him as a friend and nothing else." I replied, and she narrowed her eyes at me.

"You sure you only like him as a friend?"

"Yeah, I only like him as a friend or do you expect me to fall in love with someone I just met?" I asked, and she scoffed.

"Why not? I mean, he's handsome, rich and sexy. Or haven't you heard of the word "love at first sight", huh?"

"I know there's something called love at first sight, but I'm not the type of person who does that shit," I replied. "I don't fall in love with someone at first sight."

"If you don't love that guy, then why did you stop me when I was still shaking hands with him?" She asked, raising her eyebrows questioningly at me.

"Why wouldn't I stop you? I mean, you were shaking hands with him for almost a minute and it was making him uncomfortable, so I had to.....intervene."

"You acted like a jealous girlfriend back there you know?" She said, and I raised a questioning brow at her.

"I did?"

"Yeah, you did." She nodded.

"And what did I do to make you say that I acted like a jealous girlfriend?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest with a questioning look on my face.

"The way you pulled my hand away from his when I was still shaking him, and the way you dragged me inside. That's exactly how a jealous girlfriend does when another girl is with her boyfriend." She replied, and I scoffed loudly.

"Brad is not my boyfriend, and I only pulled your hand away from his because he was getting uncomfortable with the way you were holding him."

"And why did you drag me inside without giving me a chance to speak with him?" She asked. "Were you trying to prevent me from speaking with him because you're already catching feelings for him, huh?"

"Feelings?" I scoffed. "The reason why I dragged you away was because I knew you'd do something silly if I left you with him."

"Something silly like what?" She arched her brows questioningly at me.

"Something silly like hugging him just the way you hugged Danny the first time I introduced you to him." I replied, and she rolled her eyes at me.

"I only gave that asshole a friendly hug the first time you introduced him to me. That wasn't silly." She said.

"And you'd have given Brad that same "friendly hug" if I left you with him an didn't drag you inside." I replied, sarcastically.

"Whatever." She rolled her eyes at me. "And are you sure you aren't already in love with Brad?"

"For Pete's sake Tatiana. I am not in love with Brad neither am I catching feelings for him." I replied in frustration. "I only see him as a friend and nothing more."

"I hope you only see him as a friend because I'm already in love with him." She said and my eyes went wide.

"What?!" I almost screamed, and she covered both her ears with her hands.

"Why the fuck did you scream like that when I said I am already in love with Brad or whatever his name is?" She asked with a slight frown on her face as she slowly removed her hands from her ears.

"I didn't scream. I only exclaimed" I replied, looking away to avoid her questioning gaze.

"Oh! Is 'exclaiming' now the new word for screaming?" She asked, sarcastically, and I rolled my eyes without giving her a response.

"Barbie doll, I know you're catching feelings for Brad but you just won't accept those feelings." Tatiana said, and I shook my head in disagreement.

"No, I am not catching any fucking feelings for anyone."

"Yeah you are."

"And what makes you say that I'm already developing some stupid feelings for someone I recently met, huh?" I asked, and she smirked.

"When Brad brought you home, I looked out the window and I saw when the both of you almost kissed." She replied, and I felt my cheeks heating up in embarrassment.

I looked away to hide the embarrassed blush on my cheeks.

"Barbie doll, If it were any other guy who tried to kiss you earlier and not Brad, you'd have punched the guy's face or kicked his dick." Tatiana said. "But I saw the way you closed your eyes when Brad wanted to kiss you. Meaning that you also wanted a kiss from him, and you can't possibly want a kiss from someone who you don't have feelings for, right?" She asked.

"For Pete's sake, Tatiana. I don't have any fucking feelings for Brad." I replied.

"Really?" She asked with a smirk across her face.

"Yeah. And what are you even doing at home by this time? I thought you left for work in the morning, so shouldn't you be at work right now?" I threw questions at her in order to change the topic.

"Yeah, I went to work in the morning, but I was worried about you when you weren't feeling well in the morning, so I told my boss that my younger sister is sick and he gave me a leave." She replied.

"That's so nice of you, but you shouldn't have taken a leave." I said, and she chuckled.

"I'm glad I took that leave because if I didn't, I wouldn't have meet Brad today." She said, taking the TV remote which was not far from her reach, then she switched on the TV.

"Barbie doll, I love Brad already without even knowing anything about him, but don't worry. I'll give you time to think about your feelings for him, and if it turns out that you don't love him, then I'll shoot my shot." Tatiana said, before diverting her gaze to the TV screen.

"Am I really developing feelings for Brad?" I inwardly asked myself as I took my gaze off Tatiana.

★BRAD'S POV★

After dropping Selena off at her apartment, I drove straight home and I got home after driving for thirty minutes.

After parking my car in the garage, I got down from the cat and proceeded into the mansion.

"Welcome home, young master Brad." Our only maid, Mrs Pamela, greeted me as I walked in.

"Good afternoon, Mrs Pamela." I replied.

Mum was sitting on a couch in the living room, staring at her phone.

She raised her gaze from her phone and when she saw me, she immediately dropped her phone on the couch, then rose up to her feet.

"Welcome, Brad." She said, and moved closer to me.

I ignored her and made to walk past her but she held my hand, stopping me on my tracks.

"Brad, for how long are you gonna keep giving me this silent treatment?" She asked, and I turned to look at her.

She had a sad look on her face and her voice sounded like she was about to cry.

"Let go of my hand, mum." I said in a mean and cold voice.

"Please Brad. I already broke up with Ivan so stop giving me this silent treatment. It's killing me." She said in a pleading tone and I scoffed.

"Do you know how hurt I was when I saw the both of you sleeping together on your bed, huh?" I asked in a low voice so that Mrs Pamela would not hear me.

Mum gave response, instead she hung her head low without letting go of my hand.

"I felt really hurt when I saw you and that asshole sleeping together on your bed yesterday afternoon, and whenever I replay that image in my head, I feel really disgusted." I said, and I saw tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I mean, how could you have sex with someone who is far younger than you? You're married and yet you still had sex with him? Do you know what that means?" I asked, angrily.

"Brad, I know I made a grave mistake and I cheated on your father, but I'm feeling bad about it. My conscience has been judging me since yesterday and the silent treatment you're giving me is worsening it for me, so please, just find a place in your heart to forgive me. Please." Mum said in a pleading tone and more tears streamed down her cheeks.

My heart softened when I saw the tears on her face and my anger suddenly vanished.

I let out a soft sigh and took my right hand to her face, then wiped her tears with my thumb.

"I've forgiven you, mum. But promise me you won't repeat that mistake." I said, and she nodded.

"I promise you, Brad. That mistake won't repeat itself."

"That's good." I pulled her into a warm hug which lasted for about two minutes.

"I have two classes this afternoon so I have to leave." I said as I disengaged from the hug.

"Alright." She replied with a smile, then I turned around and went upstairs to my room.

Immediately I got inside my room, I grabbed my black bag which contained the books I'd need at college, then I went downstairs to the living room.

"See you later, mum." I said as I began walking towards the door.

"Goodbye son." She replied.

I walked out of the house to the garage and I clambered inside my vehicle, then I drove out of the compound.

My lips curved into a smile as I recalled the moment I spent with Selena. She was the most beautiful and jovial woman I had ever seen or met, and her was the prettiest smile I had ever seen.

I had never developed feelings or felt drawn to a woman before, but I was drawn to Selena's confidence, her pretty smile, and the way her eyes crinkled when she smiled.

I was literally drawn to everything about her, and I made up mind to ask her the next time we meet whether she has a boyfriend or not. If she doesn't have one, then I'll shoot my shot and I hope she'll say yes to me.
