Chapter 49: Annoying

Adam paused, looking at Vivian with surprise. He hadn't expected her to suddenly change her mind, especially since she and Emily had never gotten along.

Of course, deep down he was actually dying to have Emily come back. After thinking about all of Emily's good qualities yesterday, he realized just how important Emily was to him.

This household really couldn't function without Emily. He really hoped Emily would come back home. Of course, Emily would have to apologize to him first.

"You really agree to let Emily come back? You two have never gotten along. Every time she comes back, you two end up in all kinds of conflicts, making the whole house chaotic. How can I trust what you're saying?"

"Adam, I know I was wrong. I really regret what happened before. I never thought things between Emily and me would end up like this. I feel very guilty."

Vivian lowered her head and spoke with a guilty expression, "I know Emily might not forgive me so easily, but I promise you, if she comes back this time, I won't provoke her anymore. I'll keep my distance from her!"

Seeing her being so well-behaved and sensible, the bit of dissatisfaction in Adam's heart gradually disappeared.

Vivian was indeed the most sensible one. Even if she couldn't cook or do housework, at least she didn't make him angry!

Besides, Vivian was a rich young lady after all. So what if she couldn't cook? It wasn't a big deal anyway!

So his opinion of Vivian improved, and his expression softened a bit. "Alright, I'll call her when I have time and ask. This Emily is really too much. Every time you two fight, I can see she's deliberately bullying you. Don't worry, if she dares to provoke you this time, I definitely won't let her get away with it!"

"Okay, I knew Adam was the best! With you saying that, I feel relieved and have nothing to worry about anymore."

Vivian's eyes sparkled as she looked at Adam. Adam proudly lifted his head, looking very pleased with himself.

But Vivian was sneering inside. This time when Emily comes back, the drugs she ordered will have arrived too. This time she would completely ruin Emily's reputation, so she'd never have a chance to compete for Adam again!

She wanted to see if Adam could still accept Emily after Emily slept with someone else!

After breakfast, Adam even took the initiative to greet Nola, which made Nola feel flattered.

Although she also ran a small company, it only had a few people, so she didn't need to stay there all the time.

"How was breakfast? If you think it's good, I can come cook for you every day."

Nola said with a smile. Adam nodded slightly, "Sure, if you're willing, you can stay permanently."

Adam was in a good mood, so after saying that, he turned and went back to the living room. He was a bit anxious now, wanting to call Emily and get her to come back quickly.

He had already decided to take the initiative and lower himself to get Emily back. Emily should at least show him that respect.

The call went through quickly. Emily looked at the unknown contact on her phone, frowning slightly. She had already guessed who might be calling.

"What do you want?"

Adam was delighted to hear this. "Emily, you knew it was me? I don't have anything major, just wanted you to come back and live here!"

Emily rolled her eyes. "What gives you the right to say something like that? Why should I go back?"

"Emily, can you stop being so stubborn? Do you know how bad your reputation has gotten lately? Everyone knows you've been involved with other men! With a reputation like that, do you think anyone else would want you?"

Adam mocked irritably, "Emily, right now only I'm still willing to take you in, still willing to give you a chance to come back and live at my place. Instead of being grateful, you dare to talk to me like this? Don't you know that besides me, no one else would be willing to take you in!"

"Well, thanks so much, but I don't need it! Stop being so full of yourself and saying these disgusting things to me!"

Emily's words were full of sarcasm. She really didn't know how Adam's brain worked, why he was so certain she could only come back to him.

Adam didn't deserve it!

Besides, reputation meant nothing to Emily. She only cared about what her family and friends thought, and now maybe Noah too.

So what other people thought was completely meaningless to Emily!

"Emily, you're really too much!"

"Shut up! You want me to come back? Dream on! You want me to come back and continue being your servant? Stop daydreaming! Even if my reputation is completely ruined, I'd never come to you!"

Emily finished speaking and hung up directly.

Hearing the busy tone on his phone, Adam angrily smashed his phone on the ground.

"Damn it! Emily, how dare you treat me like this? At a time like this, you're still throwing tantrums at me. Besides me, there's absolutely no other man who would want you. Since you're rejecting me, I'll wait for the day you come begging me! When that happens, I definitely won't agree easily. You'll have to beg me desperately!"

After hanging up, Emily immediately felt refreshed.

Adam just deserved to be scolded. He came looking for it every few days, so she couldn't be blamed.

Besides, scolding Adam every once in a while felt pretty good. Adam asked for it himself without any shame, so she wouldn't hold back!

Emily hummed a little tune as she put away her phone, not caring at all about what others thought or how they talked about her.

She wasn't living for those people anyway. Always caring so much about various evaluations would be too exhausting, like living for others. It really wasn't necessary!

Just then, the phone rang again. Emily picked up her phone in surprise - it was Noah calling.

She thought so. That idiot Adam probably wouldn't be shameless enough to keep pestering her. Then she pressed the answer button.

"Emily, are you busy lately? My friend invited me to go camping. If you're free, I'd like to take you along."

Emily's eyes lit up. "Camping? Sure! I was just thinking about getting out for a bit."

"Great, then I'll come pick you up, and we can go buy some camping gear."

Noah's expression was gentle as he drove directly to The Hart Manor to pick up Emily, and the two went to the mall together.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they arrived at the mall, they ran right into Noah's mother, Eileen.
