Chapter 7 She is hiding something
Rex
If I hadn't witnessed it, I would have considered all that a lie if someone else had told me. I have been racking my brain trying to digest what I saw. Was this something new or she had been witnessing this for a long time? From how she looked frightened and scared, it was obvious that she didn't have any idea what was happening to her. She was human and I could tell that she was no ordinary human.
I didn't let Calix and get friends go far. I had followed them. It happened that, after school, they didn't go straight home. There was a place close to Xylos where they met other students for a smoke. The rich ones always had something up their sleeves. Her father owned the Sandalwood high. I halted behind a tree with a large trunk that was in front of a building that looked to be under construction.
I decided to wait outside to confront them. No one had to know what happened. I felt the spark. And it told me just one thing. However, it seemed she didn't understand all of that. However, I was ready to let her know and it would start here. She had been in danger, if words got out. I waited for almost thirty minutes for them to come out, but none of them did. I couldn't wait any longer, given that I had other places to visit before nightfall.
My patience was wearing out. I couldn't stand outside and wait. I decided to go inside. I fixed the brown ski mask on my face. It had just my eyes and mouth visible. I took a bend to the back and came to an opened window.
I looked around for the door and found it across the room. There was a single wooden bench inside the room. Calix sat at one end. One of her friends was between the tights of a boy who looked like he had spent a good amount of his life dragging weed. The other friend was on the floor. A piece of cloth spread out in front of her with different items on it. She wrapped something in a small paper and handed it to the boy. Weed of course.
He lit up and took a drag and puffed the smoke in the air, “Good shit.” He said as he slapped the side of his head.
"She almost strangled me." Calix whined, as she flung her hair to the side and puffed a smoke from her own weed.
"You should have seen her hands. I'm sure I saw her hair change color."
Her friends said.I didn't have their names yet. But I was going to find out.
"Do you think she might be one of them?" The other one with long braids reaching rolling on the floor asked in a low whisper. She was the one rolling out the weed.
"I doubt that."
"Then how do you explain what she did earlier?"
"Maybe you should report it, you know. We don't know what else she is planning." The weed guy offered.
My hands balled into fits. They were not about to do that.
I bent over and walked to the door so that they couldn’t see me. Once at the door, I stood up to my full height, my hands in my pocket. This was after I made sure that the black mask was well secured around my face.
One of them noticed my present and turned to the others. The guy moved forward.
Yeah, tough guy.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" He asked, rage clouded his eyes. I guess no other person was allowed into this place.
"What are you waiting for, ED. Take him out."
Calix ordered and the tough guy threw a limp fist towards me. I grabbed his hand. I used my other hand to throw a hard punch in his face.
And he fell down like a bag of spoiled tomatoes.
"Who are you? What do you want? I'm going to call my father."
Calix said, pointing her phone in my direction. Her friends scurried to stand behind her like she was going to protect them even if I wanted to kill them.
Without wasting time, I used my Alpha command on them. I needed to be quick in order to leave this place.
"A word of what happened earlier today should not be heard outside. Naomi’s name should not be heard from your mouths.”
They struggled to stand, but eventually gave up and knelt down.
“Oh, I see what is happening here. She sent her boyfriend after us. Who knew such an innocent looking girl would have a boyfriend?”
Calix kept running her mouth. I would have taken her out. But not yet. That would eventually be after I got to her father. He was the target here.
"You would listen to whatever I tell you to do. If not, I will kill you and your families."
I blew a light breath across their faces. I didn't have the right to their entire memories, but just what happened earlier. They would not be able to think about it for a short period of time.
I left the room after giving them my warnings.
My eyes glanced at the scheme of work that had been sent to my office. The office the previous teacher used. It didn't look that bad. A small table with a desktop on it. Hanging on the walls were frames and pictures showing different body exercises. My eyes moved to the side of the window. My jaw clenched. There was a picture of a werewolf against it with an X sign on it.
It was no news they hated werewolves. I ripped the paper apart.
When the bell went off, I made my way to class. Their form of training wasn't the same as we used in Aetheria. I had to give them notes from the book the previous teacher left behind.
The students greeted me when I entered the class.
"Good morning, Mr. Rex."
Some of them squealed while others spoke in low voices. Calix sat behind the class with one of her friends. She waved with a little smile on her face. I guess she had no idea who confronted them yesterday.
My gaze moved to the far end of the class.
Naomi. On instincts, our eyes met. She quickly looked away. I walked to stand in front of her desk.
"Why are you sitting on this side all by yourself?"
Her desk was the only one on this column. It was like she had been stigmatized to stay away from the rest of the class.
Why?
"That's where she belongs. All to herself. " Calix bit back. I didn't spare her a glance. I looked around. There was a seat in the middle with just one student occupying it.
"Get your things and sit on that desk."
She shook her head without a word leaving her mouth. Fear in her eyes like she was scared of what would happen if she left her seat. I wanted to pull her off the seat, but I refrained from doing so, given what happened yesterday. She was still in a state of confusion. And getting her to relieve that experience , could get worse.
"Don't make me repeat myself, Naomi. Do as I say." My tone came out commanding, almost making her shrink. She nodded and picked up her things from the desk.
I went on to continue the class. I gave them lessons in different sport exercises, what they needed to do while in a fight against their opponents.
When I was done, I looked up at Naomi. "I want to see you in my office, Naomi. "
She arrived at the office door, ten minutes later. I didn't ask her why she came late. I watched with curiosity as stood at the door fidgeting with her fingers like she was waiting for an invitation. I moved to the door and waved her inside. I locked the office door and immediately turned to face her.
"Please, don't..." She pleaded, trying to step away from me. What she didn't understand was that she could not run away from me. She walked backwards until her back was pressed against the table, making some books to fall down.
"Please, What Naomi…?” My hands pressed on either side of the table, trapping her in-between.
"This is inappropriate, Mr. Rex." Her voice was low and small. She sounded so innocent. I leaned in and sniffed her. I heard my sleeping wolf stirred inside. Too broken to jump up for any excitement. But I was glad he was making some improvement. He recognized her first. I was doubtful, given that she was a human. But I was beginning to see this differently, especially what she did to Calix.
She wasn't just human. This doubt prompted me to ask my next question.
"Do you know who you are?" I stepped away from her, giving her some space.
"I'm Naomi." She said, making her way to the door. The corners of my lips quirk. Any one would say that.
If she was my mate, then I needed to find out exactly who she was. But for now, I needed to keep her close to me. She could be the source of redemption I had been looking for. Humans and werewolves were forbidden to be together. Aside from that, I hated humans with everything in me. If she was who I was assuming, based on what I saw, I would have to cajole her, take what I want from her and let her go.
My hands reached out to her cheeks. I lifted her face so that she was looking at me. Then, I noticed some overlap in her pupil. Black over red. It looked like she had eye contacts on.
Why would she be using contact lenses?
She was definitely hiding something.
