Chapter 10: The jade stone market
"It's nothing. You may go back first." As soon as the Dean came back to his senses, he told Myra enthusiastically. He had already figured out something. Despite the fact that Myra looked indifferent, it seemed like that man had his eyes on her. It wouldn't do him any good if he treated her poorly.
Myra looked at the dean's change in attitude and felt her lips twitch. She didn't know what was happening, but wasn't the change in attitude a little too sudden? She was definitely not expecting such a thing. Anyway, she couldn't care less about what was going on in his mind. She still had a few lecturers to attend. She headed to class as soon as she got out of the dean's office. What Myra liked about her class was the fact that everyone always minded their own business. That's because they were mostly busy. Either doing research or doing experiments. They didn't have the time to gossip about others. This is what Myra liked. She hated noisy places and hated drama, too. Thankfully, her class had none. She breathed a sigh of relief because no one came over to ask her about yesterday's incident. Speaking of which, Myra also felt frustrated. That man knew he was always the talk of the town, yet he still showed up and stood outside his car. Was he trying to show off his good looks? But he wasn't the kind to do that, then, what was he trying to do? Myra knew she couldn't read him or figure him out, and she felt a headache just thinking about it, so she decided to let go of the matter first. She had started conducting another research after the other one bore the fruits she had more or less anticipated. She was looking forward to more of those, and her eyes couldn't help but twinkle at the thought of that. A guy on the side saw the twinkle in Myra's eyes and remained frozen and in a daze. He had never seen anyone as pretty as Myra on their campus. Coupled with her twinkling eyes, she looked so ethereal that the guy found it hard to withdraw his gaze. Myra had no idea that was happening. Even if she knew what was happening, she wouldn't give a damn. She didn't care about men anyway. To her, they were all like Reed.
Within no time, it was already evening, and Myra knew it was time. She packed her stuff and left the class. Myra knew where to meet the guy. She had told him to keep a low profile. Sure enough, she saw the car as soon as she got out of school. This time, he wasn't standing outside. Instead, it was the chauffeur who was leaning on the car, as if instructed to wait for someone. Her lips twitched. Couldn't they just keep a low profile? As she sighed inwardly, she made her way to where the car was parked.
"Miss." As the chauffeur said this, he went ahead and opened the door for her.
"Thank you." Myra thanked the chauffeur with a smile.
"Your phone." As soon as she sat down, the man said.
"Huh?" Myra still didn't quite catch what he was saying, so she looked at him in confusion.
"Give me your phone." He stretched out his hand. He was still leaning casually on the car seat. He looked so lazy and bewitching at the same time. After giving him the phone, Myra turned her head to look at the scenery outside. She didn't want to get attracted to a man. Men were all liars. She'd rather look at the pretty scenery outside than look at a man.
"Here." After fiddling with it for a few minutes, he gave it back to Myra. Myra took it and looked at him suspiciously.
"I was making up an excuse for your mom." The man said and closed his eyes.
Myra looked at her phone and opened the messaging app. There, she found the text he sent her mother. He had explained that there was an experiment her class had to undertake, so she would be a bit late. It made sense. She marveled at his quick wit. Not everyone could think so quickly of a feasible excuse. She wanted to thank him, but seeing that he was sleeping, she decided against it. Myra couldn't be bothered by anything else and logged into her game to play. She had been so busy that she barely played. Now that she got the chance, she immediately started playing. Although her phone volume wasn't high, the man beside her heard it. He couldn't help but raise his brows. He wasn't asleep. He just wanted to rest with his eyes closed. He wondered why she was playing such a difficult game.
"We are here." The chauffeur announced, and the two looked up at the same time.
"Let's go." After getting out of the car, the man said to Myra, who nodded. The chauffeur suddenly felt that the two looked so good together. He couldn't help but envision them together in the near future.
Just then, Myra was knocked to the side. If it wasn't for the man beside her, she would have fallen and injured herself.
"Careful." The man held her by the waist and warned. Then, he instantly turned his head to look at the culprit. His eyes turned increasingly cold. It was her cousin. The man had an impression of her when he saw her at the ball that day. He instantly knew she had done it on purpose. Lana shrunk her neck when she saw the cold look the man was giving her. It was so scary that she almost regretted pushing Myra.
"Are you okay?" After retracting his gaze, he looked at Myra. The lady seemed a bit traumatized. It was as if she didn't expect such a thing to happen as soon as she entered the market.
"Mm. I'm okay." Myra nodded and said.
"Let's go then." As the man said this, he let go of her waist. Before Myra could heave a sigh of relief, he held her hand.
"What are you doing?" Myra struggled out of his grasp to no avail.
"Protecting you." The man said as a matter of fact. The girl was small and delicate, and any slight push could make her injure herself in a fall.
When Myra heard what he said, she stopped struggling.
"Sir, this stone I can guarantee has jade of the highest quality. You won't lose out. I promise." The man followed the dark lycan and flattered him. His attitude was so respectful. Of course, who wouldn't respect the wealthiest and most ruthless man in the country unless they wanted their whole lives ruined?
Everyone had their attention on the dark lycan. Rather, they had their attention on the Stone. They were tempted to purchase it, but they couldn't because the dark lycan was the one expected to purchase. Myra looked at the stone and frowned. She didn't know why, but she felt otherwise. She looked up at the man beside her and noticed that he seemed deep in thought. She stood beside him silently. All this while, he had not stopped holding her hand. Myra could feel all kinds of gazes directed at her, but what could she do ? She had agreed to accompany him.
Just as she was lost in her own thoughts,
"What do you think?" The man asked. His actions made the crowd gasp. Why did the dark lycan ask such a little girl for advice? Was he kidding?
Myra thought for a while before she shook her head and said;
"Don't buy it."
