Chapter 62: THE ROGUE ALPHA'S UNEXPECTED MATE
Zanian POV
“Okay so I will start from the beginning.” I said and just received amused looks from the Council members who has been looking at Chrystal and Julian and then me with so many questions in their eyes that I’M confused.
Three hours earlier.
Chrystal POV
‘They are coming. They are really coming.’ I thought to myself as I help to set up the conference room at the top. We got everything snacks, drinks water if they prefer as far as we know the council only exists out of five, three males and two females other than that we have no idea who they are or what they are.
Julian still hasn’t recovered fully from almost killing me so he has been a bit distant for which I don’t blame him I just wish he would stop being so hard on himself.
I stand back and stare at the table making sure we have everything. Most of the wolves and vampires who had their tents in the front had to move them to the back. the rooms on our floor has been cleared out and cleaned for the council and the kitchen upstairs has been fully stocked, As well as the bathrooms in each room.
We have no idea what to expect from the council or if they would even stay.
“how is everything here?” Zanian asked as he came up hugging me from behind.
I relaxed and laid my head on his chest. “When all of this is over we need a vacation” I said and felt his chest shaking as he chuckled. He kissed the top of my head and left again.
After an hour and a half of setting everything up it is finally done. I looked at my watch and it’s an hour and half before they arrive.
The house has been cleaned from top to bottom everyone jumping in to help. Maggie has been behind pots the whole day saying she is going to make something special for the council maybe it would soften their hearts. I laughed at that, because I doubt that food can do that.
Whatever she is cooking smells amazing and mouth-watering. I tried to have a peak, but got chased so I left running out the front door.
When I stepped outside training was in full swing and the numbers grew. Everyone was in training now even the vampires who volunteered. Tracy was the trainer yet again and Zane her sparring partner.
I smiled at them and went off looking for Julian. The way he just disappears is beyond me.
I searched for about half an hour and then I finally found him.
“what are you doing?” I asked when I saw him meditating. I had to take a deep breath as to not laugh out loud. I have never in my life heard about a vampire meditate.
When he looked at me he’s eyes were a deep gold. I swallowed audibly and took a step back groaning internally. “again.” I asked and just received a laugh from Julian.
He blinked for a few times and then his eyes turned back to normal.
“I really did scare you.” He said and his laughter died down. he looked at me and sadness passed behind his eyes.
I walked up to him and said, “scare yes, but you are not asking me the right question.” I said and I was serious for a second. It took him a few minutes and then he asked, “are you afraid of me.”
I looked at him and smiled, because I know that I’m not afraid of him. “no Julian I am not afraid of you. Everyone loses control every now and then and for us it’s perfectly normal.” I said and I really meant it. we are after all wild animals who shouldn’t even exist, but here we are.
“are you two done?” Zanian asked as he stepped forward with a smile on his face.
“what are you smiling about?” I asked crossing my arms over my chest.
“I know you are tall but when you stand in front of Julian you look short.” Zanian said and walked up to us.
“well it’s not my human form that matters because I still beat your wolves size and I tower over Julian too.” I said and smirked at them when both their faces dropped.
“You’re still not faster than me.” Julian said smiling.
“that’s true I’m not but Raven is and Roxy is even faster.” I said and yet again saw their faces drop.
“we can go around and around the whole day guys. Just admit it you have an awesome mate.” I said and waited for them to admit defeat.
I was staring at a smirking Zanian when I was picked up and thrown over Julian’s shoulder. “Now who is defeated?” he asked and I smiled.
One think they don’t know is I have been training with Roxy mastering her abilities while in human form. “not me.” I said and teleported myself away from them and onto the roof. Before my training I wouldn’t have been able to do that without taking Julian with me, but Roxy told me how to teleport myself even if I’m touching someone else.
I hid my scent and watched them from the roof. They are looking around with wide eyes.
“okay you win.” Julian and Zanian admitted simultaneously.
I looked down at them with a satisfied smile on my lips. “gotcha.” I said and jumped down landing in front of Zanian.
He reached to grab me but I sidestepped only to be blocked by Julian. I sigh and said, “what is this? do you to have some silent language or something?” Zanian looked at Julian and nodded his head. I narrowed my eyes at them and with speed I crawled out between Julian’s legs and made a run for it.
I know he can catch me is he wants to so I called for Roxy and shifted mid-air when I heard him running towards me. when I landed I was fully shifted into Roxy. She hasn’t been out in so long that I sat back and let her take over for a while. She shook out her fur and looked at a stunned Julian.
“that is cheating.” He said and pouted like a small child. Roxy gave a strange laugh and walked towards him. she isn’t very tall though Roxy is about the same size as an Omega wolf not a wolf made Omega and actual born Omega which is why she can move faster and she is so light. When she starts running it’s almost like she is flying, She reaches Julian’s hips that’s how short she is.
She looked up at Julian and c****d her head to the side. When Julian reached down to touch her she got down on her hunches and ran. When she looked back Julian was just standing there with Zanian now next to him.
“she wants to play.” Zanian said and tapped his back. I saw Julian’s eyes change to gold and he came running towards us. Roxy bent down and took off running towards the woods. We played like this for a while until she grew tired of winning. We waited for Julian to catch up, but we never saw him and then all of a sudden we were tackled and rolled downhill when we finally stopped someone landed on top of us and we were looking up into a smirking Julian.
“gotcha.” He said and got off me. Roxy got up and shook her fur out glaring at Julian.
Zanian POV
I just chuckled to myself when Julian and Roxy ran toward the forest. I haven’t seen her in a while and every time I see her she takes my breath away. i watched them disappear and made my way to the house. The council shout be arriving any minute now.
I looked up at the darkening sky getting even more nervous. I rubbed my hands together and looked over at Tracy giving training. She changed the times so now training is from six to eight in the morning and again at five to eight in the evenings. Blaze started getting on edge pacing up and down in my head with his ears down. I looked around and that is when I smelled the different scents. “they are here.” I said and walked off to where they would enter.
I waited for a few minutes and silently played that Chrystal and Julian would be back soon.
I saw first one figure and then another stepping out from behind the trees and stopped in front of me. the two men that looked at me are very intimidating and I had to fight against blaze as not to fall to my knees in submission.
Feeling very nervous I said, “welcome to our home.” I said and bowed my head out of respect.
“ohh my.” A woman said which caused me to look up. A woman with long brown hair approached me. “you look just like him.” she said and then hugged me. yes, this strange council lady hugged me.
I was too shocked to do anything so I just stood there until she let go. “my name is Clarissa and this is Vivian she pointed to the woman next to her. she has shoulder length black hair.
And that is Derek he is the head of the table and then beneath him is Cameron and Charles.
I bowed my head slightly and said, “please come in.”
Charles spoke up and said, “there is vampires here and a lot of them.” He looked at me with a raised brow which caused everyone to look at me.
“well it’s a long story, but they are friends and I assure you no one will be harmed.” I said and the guy named Cameron laughed. “we’ve never heard of wolves and vampires being friends.”
I found that statement offensive and said, “well if they make you uncomfortable now, wait until you hear the rest.” I said.
“I would love to stand here all night, but we’ve had a long journey so if you don’t mind I would like to know why you requested an audience with us and then I would like to get some rest.” Derek said which caused Charles and Cameron to be quiet.
I lead them inside and up to the conference room where everything has been set up.
“what is that smell?” Clarissa asked me while sniffing around. “that would be my mate’s smell.” I said and looked at them.
“we’ve never smelled something this interesting.” Charles commented and he is getting on my nerves.
“and where is this mate of yours?” Vivian asked taking a small chocolate from the table.
“she went for a run, I’m sure she’ll be here soon.” I said looking at her.
“well let’s have a seat and start.” Derek said taking the head of the table as everyone sat on his left and right side.
I told them everything that has happened and about Donovan I told them about the kingdoms corruption and I told them how we came across the vampires and that they are here to help.
“who is the leader of the coven?” Clarissa asked looking at me.
“his name is Julian Carmelo.” As soon as I said that everyone’s eyes snapped to me.
“As in THE Carmelo the first ever royal family?” Derek asked shock evident in his voice.
“Yes, as far as I know. But his mother gave the throne up when another family threatened the lives of innocents. I said looking at them confused.
“yes, we are aware of our history I just didn’t think you would know it since Julian is supposed to be dead.” Cameron said glaring at me.
“where is he now?” Derek asked looking at me.
“he is with his mate.” I said trying not to smile.
“he has a mate?” Clarissa asked shocked.
“it’s a confusing story.” I said and started explaining, “his first mate died during the mating proses, then he found his second mate on one his long lost friends whom is mated to a wolf named Zane, but then everything changed and the mate bond died between the two of them and a new mate bond was formed with someone completely different.” I said and I’m sure I must sound crazy and I think they think so too by the way they are staring at me.
I took a deep breath and exhaled loudly there is no going around the bust with this.
“he is mated to my mate, or at least a part of her.” I said and looked around the table at their open mouths and shocked faces.
Just when I was about to say something the door opened and Julian and Chrystal came in.
When their eyes landed on me they both smiled and then Clarissa stood up.
“this can’t be.” She said staring at Chrystal through narrowed eyes which caused Julian to take a protective stance in front of her baring his fangs.
“mating between two species is forbidden.” Derek said to me standing up from the table.
Chrystal came out from behind Julian and looked at Derek.
“so is killing innocent people yet here we are.” She said and sat down.
“what is your name young lady?” Vivian asked her.
“I’m Chrystal Stone and I if I may, may I see your hand?” she asked Derek who extended his hand to her.
She took his hand and closed her eyes. I knew what she is doing and there is nothing could do to stop her.
She did that with each and every one of the council members and when she was done she sat back and opened her eyes. “it’s nice to meet you Derek, Charles, Cameron, Clarissa and Vivian.” She said and smiled at me.
“I can see Zanian has already tried to explain the situation so I will tell it to you as it is. I have two mates because I am a hybrid Zanian is the mate of my wolf.” Chrystal said and her eyes flashed blue green, And this time without the purple. “her name is Raven and she is a white wolf. Julian on the other hand is mated to my fox,” Chrystal said and her eyes flashed purple casing the council to gasp.
“as far as I know I’m the only fox left.” Chrystal said and looked at me.
I looked around the table at everyone’s shocked expressions and said,
“Okay so I will start from the beginning.” I said and just received amused looks from the Council members who has been looking at Chrystal and Julian and then me with so many questions in their eyes that I’M confused.
Zanian POV
“so that is the whole story.” I said and looked around the table at the elders.
“how do we know you are speaking the truth?” Derek asked and stared at me.
“because I have no reason to lie.” I said and looked over at Chrystal. She has been quiet throughout this whole meeting and Julian was just staring at everyone.
“how is it that your pack is the first pack in over 2000 years that unites two species even though it’s punishable by death?” Clarissa asked and by the looks of it she is the one who has more brains than the lot of them combined. I thought to myself and saw Julian trying not to laugh.
I looked at her and said, “I don’t know. “Strange things has been happening to my pack ever since I started forming it.”
“yes we picked up on the scent, although everyone here is a rogue no one looks or smells like a rogue how come?” Derek asked.
“I don’t know.” I said and I wish I did because I was hoping they could give me the answers I wanted.
“does anyone else know about everything that is going on?” Vivian asked and for the first time I had an answer.
“only those within these walls and on these grounds knows what is going on.” I said and she just nodded her head.
I looked at Clarissa and said, “when you saw me for the first time you said, “I look just like him” did you know Odin?” I asked waiting for her to answer.
She looked at me and smiled, “I was there the day he found his mate. Believe it or not I was so happy for him, but something seemed off and when I went back a couple years later they told me he died and his mate ran away. so I left it at that. We never knew he had a son.” “Clarissa said and looked at me with a sad smile.
“we used to be very involved with the kingdom before the war happened and the species were still co-existing but after the war the council split up and we became a target to those who want’s all the power.” Derek said and crossed his arms on the table.
“we are well aware of our history, what we just don’t understand is how you Elder could have missed the fact that innocents were being murdered for knowing too much.” Chrystal said and stared at Derek.
“you know, I grew up being bullied and hated, then I got rejected by my mate and I died. if my mother was still alive that would have never happened, but she got killed for protecting her mate in a fight against rogues in the kingdom, the same kingdom you expect us to have respect for. So excuse me I it may sound a bit disrespectful, but where were you when all that happened?”
Chrystal asked looking around the table.
“careful young lady, you might be a fox but are still superior to you.”
“actually you are not. foxes are the superior species that is why they were hunted down, because their nature was to rule and not be ruled.” Chrystal said and I could feel the tension building in the room.
Vivian stood up and looked at Chrystal. “we are sorry for your loss and we cannot change the past, we can only better the future, but trusting a fox is a bit too much to ask.”
“well you should know since you have fox blood, but no fox.” Chrystal said and gasps were heard around the table.
Vivian stared at Chrystal and if looks could kill then we would all be dead. “what is she talking about?” Derek asked.
“you know what the problem is with our superiors? They have too many secrets.” Chrystal said and stood up walking around the table.
“what are you talking about?” Derek asked
“well you see when I asked for your hands I saw everything, every memory, every though, and every action. That is one of my abilities to see memories. So I know everything about each one of you and let me tell you, it’s shocking of how many secrets you keep from each other. As the council you should be able to tell each other anything to have that trust and none of you do. so this is how we are going to do things. I just need to get close enough to the queen without getting killed and you will do that for me or I will start a war and you will be the first ones.” Chrystal said and everything went downhill. Derek jumped out of his chair and took a protective stance, “is that a threat?” he asked his eyes turning darker.
“no, it’s a warning.” Chrystal said and stood behind Julian.
“we came here to listen and make a decision not threatened into submission by a fox.” Clarissa said looking at Chrystal and then at me.
“while you were hiding and playing house games we were here in the real world watching our mates die, faking our deaths to start a new life, waking up from the dead remembering that my mate hated me so much that he killed me. and I can tell you the story of each member in this pack. you are supposed to be the protectors and all you did was hide.” Chrystal said and I could feel her emotions are all over the place.
“what do you want us to do?” Clarissa asked walking over to Chrystal.
“I want you all to support us and stand with us.” Chrystal said and she calmed down a bit.
“and how do we do that?” Vivian asked.
“we don’t want a war but one already started, Queen Eliza sent royal wolves and rogues to attack our pack and that alone declared a war.” Chrystal said looking around the table.
“okay we will stand with you but if this turns out to be a war then you will bare full responsibility for it.” Derek said and got up from the table. “you can count on our support, as for now I’m tired.” Derek said and moved towards the door.
“your pack is truly an interesting pack Zanian.” Clarissa said and they all followed behind Derek with Chrystal taking them to their rooms.
Chrystal POV
I didn’t mean to get angry and talk so rudely to the elders but they need a wakeup call to realise what is happening. my anger got the better of me and my mouth just would stop talking I realise that threatening the council could have deadly consequence.
I was speaking the truth, I smelled Vivian even before I took her hand. She has fox blood in her, but she doesn’t have a fox.
I was shocked when Clarissa spoke up. And I see now that she has more brains and emotions than the rest of them.
Derek had a straight face throughout the whole meeting where as Cameron and Charles kept looking at us strangely almost like they are judging us.
After the meeting I showed the elders to their rooms and said goodnight. I was about to leave Clarissa’s room when she asked to speak to me for a second.
I followed her in and closed the door behind me.
“so you are a fox huh A very special one at that.” Clarissa said and I just looked at her confused.
“I will explain. Do you know the history of foxes and how they came to existence?” Clarissa asked.
“I know some of it, but I didn’t even know I had a fox until a year ago. I always thought I just had a split personality.” I said. Clarissa looked shocked for a moment and I explained about my father and what he did to supress my fox making my wolf dominant.
“wow, you really have a story and a half to tell don’t you?” Clarissa asked rubbing her temples.
“tell me Chrystal why is this so important to you? I mean you have a wonderful pack here and you have a life what else could you want?” Clarissa asked and I thought for a moment,
“I want to make sure that what happened to me and the people in or pack will never happen to anyone else, I want to give my daughters a life of safety and I want the truth more than anything.” I said and saw Clarissa smile at me.
“for a fox you are very sincere and you put others above yourself.” She said and I laughed.
“a fox is only as strong as the human allows it to be.” I said.
“well Chrystal I wish you all the luck and don’t worry, you won’t be harmed because of your vampire mate. We were waiting for something like this to happen for 2000 years and now that it has things will be changing.” Clarissa said and I thanked her, because that was our biggest worry.
When I left Clarissa’s room I felt somewhat better. The meeting didn’t go as we planned it went better. The elders have been filled in on what happened and hopefully they will not go back into hiding as they are our superiors.
I made my way back to the conference room where Zanian and Julian is waiting for me.
I swallowed as I walked in knowing that I’m in trouble.
I looked at Zanian and his expression was serious. I played with my fingers waiting for him to say something.
“so talking didn’t work so threatening them did?” Zanian asked and I didn’t dare look up at him. “what were you thinking C?”
“I wasn’t.” I said honestly.
“what if they left?” Zanian ask and only now do I see the seriousness of the situation I could have caused.
“well they didn’t.” I said and looked up at him. “we have been sitting for hours I mean it’s after midnight and we were going nowhere.”
“still we could have been sitting here for eternity it a matter of respect.” Zanian said.
I looked up at him and narrowed my eyes. “do not talk to me about respect Zanian. Because of me we have their support, because of me they are staying. You can’t always be afraid to speak up even if that id against the elders.” I said and looked at Julian. He was just shaking his head with a smile on his face.
“do you even realise what could have…” Zanian started saying but I cut him off
“I know what I did was wrong, but I wouldn’t change how I spoke to them, they have been hiding while wolves were suffering and they needed a reality check.”
“which you gave them.” Julian said and smiled at me.
“well you two were no help, so yes. I gave it to them. And Clarissa said nothing will happen to us.” I said and saw Julia’s smile growing wider until he smiled so wide I’m afraid he might pull a muscle or something.
I looked at Zanian and he was just staring at me, “you mean the council approves?” Zanian asked open mouthed.
“I don’t know if they approve. Clarissa just said we won’t be harmed and that they were waiting for something like this for 2000 years.”
Zanian pulled me into him and hugged me. okay more like squeezed me to death.
We cleared the conference room and put everything in bowls that wasn’t eaten as for the chocolates. Well don’t ask about that.
After we were done I was dead weight on my feet. I walked to the room and took a hot shower then got ready for bed.
As I walked into the room I saw Zanian was already on the bed waiting for me and just then Julian came in wearing only a pair of boxers.
I looked at the two of them and saw that they have showered.
“we didn’t want to join you because our room isn’t sound proof and we have guests, so we showered in the girls room.” Zanian said before I could ask.
I crawled to the middle and fell down. Zanian chuckled at soon I felt the bed dip as Julian made himself comfortable behind me. I felt two sets of arms wrap around my body and snuggled more into Zanian’s chest which caused Julian to move closer and bury his face in my hair.
“goodnight mates.” I said and let sleep take me.
