Chapter 123: NIGHT OF SACRIFICE

The Prince and his people held out their weapons as they looked around, analyzing the level of mess they were in. The Legion had transformed into their wolf state, making them even more vicious.

The men formed a circle, with the ladies in the middle, to keep them safe for as long as they could.

Prince was still holding Cal, who was already losing consciousness due to the loss of blood, and excessive pain, thinking of a strategy to use for their defense and attack. But the number of werewolves was overwhelming.

He decided to lay Cal on the floor with the ladies, so he could fight properly. He transformed partially, with his eyes glowing, as he snarled, angry.

One of the werewolves roared, signaling that the rest attack. They roared in response and charged at the Prince and his men.

Prince Tristan shouted, and the Rebellion shouted in response and began fighting, defending themselves, and attacking.

Prince Tristan didn't find it easy fighting them, as they were fully transformed and he wasn't. But he fought valiantly. His men also displayed their swordsmanship against their attackers, in as much as they were humans.

But the battle was beginning to overwhelm them, and the humans were being injured. A werewolf rushed at the ladies and Cal when suddenly, two werewolves jumped right into the midst of the battle and gutted the attacker through the chest with its hand.

The other skillfully killed other werewolves that attacked the humans, and they stood beside Prince Tristan, barely panting in exhaustion.

Prince Tristan looked at them and recognized they were Lieutenant Silka and Commander Glenn. They came to help out.

Prince Tristan nodded at them in appreciation and got re-energized by the presence, ready to keep on fighting.

The first set of attacks by the werewolves stopped, with some of them dead, and the humans injured and exhausted already. It was a strategy by the one leading The Legion, to wear them out.

The werewolves stepped back, regrouping. Then the one leading them roared, signaling another attack, and they charged at the Prince and his counterparts again.

They held their weapons ready to fight, when all of a sudden, all the werewolves fell to the ground and began to whimper. Their heads began pounding them terribly.

Prince Tristan's men looked in surprise at what was happening. But the Prince looked round, trying to see who was doing that. He looked and saw a scarlet-robed individual. He knew who exactly that was.

Roweena slowly walked in the midst of the werewolves, holding up her clenched fist.

They all transformed back to their human state and cried out in terrible pain.

"I hope I wasn't too late?" she asked as she met them.

"Your time was perfect," he replied. "Let's get going before reinforcements return."

The men helped Cal up and hurried away from the midst of the werewolves. As they left, Roweena who still had her fists clenched, stopped.

"What is it?" Prince Tristan asked.

"You just go on ahead, and head to the ridge. There are horses there waiting already. I'll catch up with you soon. There's something I need to do," she replied.

Prince Tristan nodded and caught up with the rest of the people, leading them to the ridge. As they progressed, he expected to meet some resistance, but he was surprised to find none at all.

The streets were clear, as all the people ran into their homes, hiding so as not to get caught in the crossfire.

They safely walked out of the city gate, heading to the ridge.

Meanwhile, within the city, Roweena tortured the Legion, with not a single iota of remorse.

"You think it's power when you take on innocent people beneath you?" Roweena asked, fuming. They all kept crying in pain, not being able to answer her.

You all will now learn what true power is," she said, clenching her fists tighter, thereby intensifying the pain. They all began bleeding from their eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.

They all died a very painful death. Roweena sighed, satisfied with what she did. She turned to leave and staggered, a bit drowsy. The power it took to take on that number of werewolves was overwhelming. But she didn't mind, as long as she gave them what she thought they deserved.

Gaining some stability, she hurried and caught up with the rest, as they awaited her. She got on her horse, and they rode off.

Prince Tristan briefly looked back at the First Kingdom, and also at the palace. He felt really bad that he had to leave his home because of his stance against evil.

As they got to a certain point, away from the First Kingdom, Cal fell from the horse he rode on with the Juror. They all halted quickly and got down from their horses.

"Cal," the Juror called with concern, as he got on his knees beside him.

"Roweena, can you please help?" the Juror asked. She came close and examined the wound. She stretched her hand, trying to use magic to heal him.

"It's not working, am sorry. The weapon used was most likely laced with something unusual," she said feeling terrible.

"It should be a True Blood's blood. I do- I don't know how, but I can feel it in me," Cal said with a strained voice.

"Save your strength, Cal. You're going to be fine," the Juror said holding his hand firmly. They all surrounded him, watching him helplessly.

"I believe in a better future for us all, with you on the throne, your Majesty," Cal said the Prince.

Tears ran down Prince Tristan's cheeks, as he looked at Cal.

"It wa- was an honor, ser- serving, with you all," Cal said, as he drew his final breath.

Prince Tristan shut his eyes, as more tears flowed from it. The Juror and everyone else cried, feeling deeply pained at the death of a dear one. Even Blossom and her maid felt bad despite not knowing Cal.

"We need to get to keep going. We'll bury him properly when we've gone a safe distance between us and them that mean us harm," Prince Tristan said.

They got clothes and wrapped Cal in them, mounting him on the same horse that the Juror rode.

"So, where are we going to go to? We'll be branded traitors and they'll be on the hunt for us everywhere," Prince Tristan asked.

"Let's head to the only place where people like us are accepted," Roweena responded.

"And where is that?"

"You'll know when we get there," Roweena replied.

"I'll need to go alert the others so we can rejoin you all, your Majesty," one of the men said.

"You'll know where to find us when it's time," Roweena responded to him. He nodded and rode off in a different direction, while the rest rode off with Roweena taking the lead.
