Chapter 15: Chapter Fifteen: Kai's Brother

AUTHOR'S POV

"What are you saying, Jonas? Are you trying to dissuade us from the urgent matter of you trying to kill us?" Nate spoke up, with a sneer as he looked at Jonas. He wasn't willing to back down and he would make sure Jonas went down for his deceit.

"Who is our enemy?" Jonas asked, ignoring Nate. He looked at the other rogues, who were patient enough with him. This attitude of his got Nate irked and his hands clenched into tight fists.

"You know our enemy, Jonas. We were all exiled unjustly by the Alpha King of the Kingdom. Alpha Donovan Drew." A rogue spoke up and everyone went silent. Their heads were bowed as they reeled about what had gone down in their lives. They were accused of crimes they didn't commit.

"Yes, he is our enemy and so what? He is going to die by our hands by all means." Nate spoke up as the mention of the Alpha King's name sent his brain into overdrive. He was livid.

"Do you have the means to?" Jonas asked, directly at Nate. At this point, he faced the angry Nate, squarely.

"What do you mean?" Nate spat out, in anger.

"If you go against the Alpha King, do you have the means to conquer him? We were just commoners in the Pack and we had no interactions with the royal family. However, we were handpicked and made to pay for the crimes of the government officials!" Jonas spoke up, while he looked directly at Nate and then at the other rogues.

They had gone quiet and all of them looked at Jonas with a bewildered look. They didn't know what Jonas was driving at. They were being reminded of their lives in the Pack and how they were ridiculed in the Pack's square. That day, they lost faith in the Pack and the Pack members.

"What are you driving at?" Nate stepped forward and asked with a frown on his face. He had calmed down, visibly and Jonas let out a smile and then looked at Aria. On the other hand, Aria who had been leaning on a tree looked back at Jonas. They were finally going to put their plans into action. They meant well for the rogues but then it was a slip-up on their part, not to inform them of their plans.

"What I'm driving at is, we need to have someone who can stand head to head with the Alpha King in strength and capabilities." Jonas finally explained with a serious look on his face.

He took a deep breath and then continued to say, "None of us, can stand against the Alpha King. If one woman can defeat us all, do you think we can stand the Alpha King's warriors alone? Do you?" Jonas put that question to them and all the rogues had a look of realization on their faces.

All this while, they only knew to use their fists to get what they wanted. However, they are still not even capable enough.

"You are right!" Nate let out, with a look of realization and all other rogues nodded. Though he hated the fact that he had to agree with Jonas, he couldn't deny the facts.

However, he wasn't willing to back down as Jonas hadn't explained what he had to do with Anna.

"What do we do then? What is this all about? If this is what you meant for us, what has Anna got to do with us?" Nate asked and Jonas nodded.

"She is a Hybrid. She has abilities and powers even the Alpha King does not possess. However, she doesn't know that yet. Now, we will help her hone her skills while she helps us in defeating the Alpha King." Jonas dropped the bombshell and the rogues went into an uproar.

They looked visibly uneasy by Jonas' words and they weren't willing to accept his suggestion just like that.

"No! We can't do that! How can we collude with someone who tried to kill us all?" A rogue spoke up and his face was filled with so much anger and anguish.

"She killed Ski! We cannot let her in with us!" He continued as his eyes turned red. The one whom Anna had killed when she fought against the rogues was Ski.

"I understand you, Kai. Ski's death was painful to us all, especially to you. He is your brother, after all." Aria spoke up, in a meek and weak tone. She was concerned about Kai, knowing he was still in pain about his brother. However, she knew they couldn't continue to dwell on what wouldn't benefit them.

"But we need to look on the brighter side. We need to defeat the Alpha King before he gets to us. The forest is just like a prison he has put us in and he can do away with us, anytime." Aria continued to say and Jonas nodded.

Nate had gone quiet as well as the other rogues as they reasoned what they had been told. However, Kai was having none of it.

With eyes, red in anger, he pointed at Jonas, "You are doing this because of how selfish you are, Jonas. You can never tell how much pain I feel by just knowing the one who killed my brother is alive! And now, you want me to watch that person live every day!" His voice resonated through the whole forest and the skies bore witness to his pain.

"Kai, you have to..." Aria tried to explain to him again but he cut her off immediately.

"Shut up! Just shut up, Aria. You were stabbed in the chest all because of that monster. Are you so gullible to forgive her and watch her live?" Kai asked and his words were a bit insensitive. He didn't even fault Nate who had been the main cause of Aria's injury.

"You all do not know what it means to lose a close person." Kai said while he pointed at everyone.

While Jonas was confused about how to deal with Kai, he dropped another bombshell.

"It's either I die or she dies! That monster will never become one of us!" Kai declared and Aria gasped while the rogues went into an uproar again.

They weren't willing to lose one of them again but how would they defeat the Alpha King with their minuscule strength?
