Chapter 13: Chapter Thirteen: Been Played
ANNA'S POV
"You both are joking, right?" I asked, with a look of disbelief on my face. I looked from Aria to Jonas, however, they had serious looks on their faces.
"No, we are not." Jonas replied as Aria leaned on the wall close to the bed. She looked tired but then I wasn't going to stop talking until I got the hang of what was going on.
"What do you mean you are not joking? I'm a monster! You both consider me that. Everyone else out there thinks that I am a monster. How then do you want me to join you all? How?" I asked, in a bewildered tone as my heart started to beat rapidly. I didn't know why I was this emotional about the whole thing but then I didn't care.
"Well, this is a decision between Aria and I. No one else knows about it." Jonas replied, in a stern tone and Aria nodded. I realized they weren't just lovers as I had noticed but they were planning things behind the rogues' backs.
At this, I burst into a peal of mocking laughter. At this point, I saw Jonas like a clown and he didn't know what he was getting at.
"Do you know what you are saying, leader Jonas?" I asked, as my laughter came to an abrupt end. My face started to morph into an angry one as I thought they were making a joke of me.
"Of course, I.." He started to speak up but then I cut him off, rudely.
"What will become of the rogues when I join you? They have not agreed to this and then when I join, finally, I'd be treated like thrash. Is that what you want? A monster being treated like thrash?" I asked as I felt hurt a little bit. He had no sympathy for me at all.
I wouldn't be in my right senses if I joined them. I would just be taunted and abused to no end.
Also, I'd be forced to use my powers when I'm in danger. An action I would regret later. The rogues were bound to attack me and my survival instincts would surely take over.
"That is not what we want, Miss." Aria spoke up again in a meek tone but I wasn't willing to listen to her this time. She would always support Jonas anyway.
"We need you. That is why we want you to join us." Jonas said as soon as Aria finished speaking. However, I snorted in disbelief instantly.
"You need me, huh? Why?" I asked, in a mocking tone while I looked at Jonas like he was a clown. Immediately I finished my words, my eyes narrowed, in anger as a thought crossed my mind.
"Ohh, I get it now." I spoke up as I was filled with sudden realization.
On the other hand, Jonas looked at me with a frown and he asked, "What? Do you finally want to join us?" At his words, Aria perked up and I looked at them with a look of realization.
"So, you both want me to join you so I can kill off the rogues, huh?" I asked, in sudden anger. My voice was raised a notch higher and they both looked at me, with wide eyes.
But then my heart suddenly clenched in pain as I continued to say, "You both looked all over the forest for me, huh? Why? The rogues would definitely attack me and I would definitely attack them as well. Is that what you both wanted?" I yelled, in anger as I looked from Aria to Jonas.
They had a look of disbelief in their eyes and I laughed out loud.
"You both definitely think I'm a fool, right?" I asked but they shook their head.
"No, Miss! You are getting it all wrong! We do not want fights, war battles. We do not want to spill blood! Just listen to us, please." Jonas spoke and he moved closer to me, with an urgent look.
"Get away! Do not come any closer!" I said, through gritted teeth as I pointed at him. I couldn't believe I was feeling all sorry for Aria. They had all planned this! How do you expect someone to stand in for you in the face of death?! It was all planned.
I felt really hurt and even though Jonas asked me to listen to him, I couldn't. Even if he had good intentions, the bad blood between me and the rogues would never allow us to coexist. We would end up fighting to death.
"This is the end of it! Don't come looking for me. Otherwise, I would do worse than I had already done!" I said as a tear leaked from my eye and immediately, I turned and dashed out of the tent.
The rogues who were outside were standing alert as they all had bewildered looks on their faces. They had all heard what we were saying but then I didn't care..
Swiftly, I started to walk away not caring to look back. I didn't want to care if the rogues felt heartbroken like I did. All I knew was that I was played. As I walked away, I made eye contact with Nate.
Was he in on their plan as well? I wondered if he really wanted to kill me or if it was a calculated effort.
"Never mind! They are all the same!" I said to myself and immediately, I dashed into the forest, running. I wanted to go far away, where the rogues wouldn't be able to find me.
"We are on our own now, Kyra." I said to my wolf as I continued to run.
"Do we need to join a Pack now? Or maybe you should have listened to Jonas. He could have a good reason." Kyra said to me and I went still in anger.
"No! Jonas is just as evil as everyone out there." I yelled and my voice resonated through the forest.
"We are joining a Pack!" I decided and Kyra whined within me.
What was wrong with her?
