Chapter 193: Drop your gun

June sat in her office chair when Lucy hurriedly entered her room.

"We have to leave!" She said with urgency in her tone.

June blinked in confusion. "Why? Is there a problem?"

"Yes! The president is coming to visit the South City project site with some key investors."

"The president has requested you to take them on a tour on site. We don't have much time."

June got on her feet, gathering her phone and some other essentials, alongside the project blueprints.

"How long do we have?" She asked.

"Three hours." Lucy said, "According to the news, you are to get something with the investors before heading to the site."

"The president has assigned our makeovers. We need to leave immediately."

"Makeovers?" June asked with a frown. "Why would we need makeovers?"

"We don't have time. I'll explain on the way."

Just like that Lucy dragged June out of the office for a makeover. They arrived at a hotel just close to the airport and while June tried to gather her thoughts, the hired team of professionals did their wonders, transforming them both.

With Lucy being a part of the process, June didn't suspect a thing and worked hard to perfect her communication skills, prepping for a perfect job delivery.

A few hours into the makeover, Lucy received a call and stepped out to answer.

"You must delay her from coming." It was Liam. "Make sure she doesn't leave the hotel room until I say so."

Lucy's eyes narrowed. "Are you in South City? You didn't RSVP."

"I'll explain later. Do as I say." He said and before she could say a word, he ended the call.

Lucy returned into the room with a skeptical feeling but decided to obey. When she entered, June was getting dressed in her white fitted gown that stopped well above her knees.

The plan was to get her to the venue dressed in the dress and place a detachable train to compliment the outfit and make it into a wedding dress.

"Is there a problem?" June asked when she saw the look on Lucy's face.

"The president's team called me. Apparently, the flight was delayed and we wouldn't be leaving until thirty minutes later."

She said, creating a perfect expression between offended and concerned. June stepped in her direction with a kind smile.

"Not a problem, it gives me more time to prepare."

Meanwhile, April sat in a car beside the hotel waiting for June to come out. She hired some members of the Cordel pack who were to pose as June's drivers and take her to a secret location.

Although April wished to handle things herself, she couldn't risk exposing her identity as she was fairly certain her sister might see through the guise.

Her heart skipped when a woman dressed in a white dress, looking awfully like June stepped into the car.

She couldn't believe her eyes. Her stupid sister fell for her trap! A wicked smile drew on her lips as she trailed the car to a secret location prepared for the occasion.

Far away from civilization.

April watched with glee as she saw June get dragged out of the car with a bag over her head. She quickly parked the car and got inside the old, empty and dilapidated warehouse.

As soon as she saw June tied to the chair, an immense wave of joy filled her heart and she stalked over to her without pulling off the bag over her head.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" She taunted, walking around the chair. "If it isn't my beloved sister."

There was no response and April didn't care. She was so consumed with the fact that she finally caught her slippery sister that she failed to see or realize anything else.

"I've always known I'd have the final laugh," she taunted. "I was always going to come up top. I knew I'd be the one who gets her happy ending."

"You know why? Because I deserve it. After all my hardwork all these years, trying to get you out of my way, I deserve to finally have my happy ending."

April chuckled. "And in case you didn't catch on, my happy ending has always consisted of you ending up as a failure, wishing for death while I enjoyed the fruits of my hard work."

"But you've refused to accept that fate, June. You refused to be miserable and somehow always bounced back from hell and dragged me down every single time."

"I never thought I'd have to do this but since everyone else has failed epically in their jobs to take you entirely out of the equation, I decided to do it myself."

April held who she believed to be June tightly on her jaws as she spoke. "I will get my happy ending and that happy ending involves you lying dead in a pool of your own blood, sister."

She took out a gun from her waist and pulled off the bag that covered her head. April staggered in shock at the sight of the woman before her.

"Y-you!" She pointed with shaking hands, then turned to the men around. "H-how? She isn't -"

"The right person?" Lydia said, loosening the ropes around her wrists with a crooked smile.

"Nice speech by the way. It's priceless how well you've rehearsed your last words."

"You set me up..." April said with wide eyes, hands shaking. "You set me up..."

"I'm glad your brains are still working well. So I'll jog your memory a bit." Lydia said. "Remember the last words I said to you when you cruelly stabbed me in the back?"

April's heart doused in fear but she bravely held on to her gun, pointing it at Lydia.

"I don't know and I don't care." She gritted. "You will let me go, Lydia. Or I will blow your head. Trust me, I never miss."

Lydia laughed out loud. "You are indeed the devil. I admire the fact that you never give up, but I'll give you a timely advice. Drop the gun."

April held it tight. "I will pull the trigger, if you don't let me go. No one needs to die, Lydia. Let it go."

"No one needs to die?" Lydia asked, stepping forward. "A few seconds ago you went on about how one person needed to die for the other to get a happy ending." Lydia tutted, "You turned on me. Are you turning on yourself too?"

"I could end your life this instant, Lydia. These men may be on your side but they won't count when you're dead." April was sweating. "Let me go."

"I'm afraid I can't." Lydia said with a crooked smile. "Drop the gun."

"Do you want to die?!" April said with a threatening countenance.

"I already died." Lydia said with an equally frightening look. "You have one more chance, April. Drop the gun."

"See you in hell." April pulled the trigger and a clicking sound ensued.

Shocked, she looked at the gun and tried repeatedly until she was certain there was no bullet in the gun.

It was as good as a toy!

"Lydia...." She begged, dropping the gun, "please,"

"Now that this episode is over," Lydia smirked. "Shall we begin?"
