Chapter 8: 2

"I told you that I don't feel like eating anything!" I said, exasperated. I could even smell the blood; it was disgusting! "I'm sick and tired of you being adamant! Fine! If you don't want to eat anything at all, then starve!" he shouted. Suddenly, looking at the blood reminded me of an incident concerning Colin. I gasped. "You monster!" I yelled. He stared at me menacingly. "What!" he shouted, furious. "What did you do to Colin?" "Who?" "Colin! The father of the child! The one who invaded the van behind mine!" I yelled, glaring at him. "So that's his name." "What did you do to him?" "Let's just say that he will survive... Somehow." he replied, taking a sip from his glass that contained blood, without a worry in the world. I grimaced at the sight. "How could you even drink so calmly when you killed over thousands of people? Don't you feel the guilt at all?" I whispered. I noticed that his eyes were blazing in fury. "Why did you even do it? Why are you so...cruel?" "If you want to continue to live, don't say a word," he hissed threateningly, slamming his glass down without breaking it surprisingly. If I was Sertia, his soul mate, I knew that he wouldn't harm me, let alone kill me. But I stayed quiet. Having nothing better to do, I stared at the beautiful view of the bright city. I could still feel his aura of fury and his glares but I tried to ignore them. "I want you to leave," he ordered. I looked at him and saw that he stood up and walked over to the railings of the balcony, looking at the view. "Gladly," I stated, standing and walking into the dining room. I saw Gertrude standing next to the doorway. "Miss, let's go to your bedroom," she said, escorting me to my room. When I entered my room, I saw the digital clock on the bedside table and it read '02:14' in the morning. Groaning and tired, I walked into the bathroom and changed back into the white dress. When I exited the bathroom I saw Gertrude standing next to my bed. "I prepared your bed and I left some midnight snacks, in case if you're hungry since I barely noticed you eating anything, Miss. I will now leave and if you need anything, please call me anytime by pressing the button next to the bed frame." "Okay. Thank you." "Good night, Miss." "Good night," I replied. And with that, she left my room silently. I locked the door and turned off the lights, leaving only the bedside table lamp on. I entered my bed and became comfortable. Lifting the pillow, I opened the dark green diary and I flipped the first page, reading the touching quote again. 'If you were not there for me, I would've been long gone. You taught me how to live, smile and love. I will love you forever and ever'. I could tell that Sertia was referring it to her love of her life, her dear soul mate, Prince Nathan. I then flipped the page and it read; 'It was my turn to work at uncle's bakery shop yesterday. When I was cleaning the kitchen, uncle came in and told me that I had to bake a two pound, chocolate cake. Uncle also told me that I was not supposed to mess this cake up since we were not very well off financially and it was difficult for us to afford the ingredients, especially the eggs and the milk. I knew that if I did something wrong with this cake, I would be punished by Auntie. So, I started to bake the cake. Everything was going well and I was very careful not to spill any of the batter. After adding coco powder and mixing it more, I placed it in the already-heated oven. Removing my apron, I went to wash my hands and change my shirt in the wash room but the twins had just arrived at the bakery when I left the kitchen. When I returned, I saw that the evil twins were fiddling with the settings of the oven which caused the cake to be overcooked. Seeing my shocked expression, the twins left the kitchen hurriedly. I turned off the oven and took out the blackened, overcooked cake. The smoke diffused to the fire alarm and, detecting the smoke, it started to ring, causing the sprinklers on the ceiling to release water. Unfortunately uncle entered the kitchen and saw the mess. I tried to tell him that it wasn't my fault and that the twins were the ones who messed up the settings of the oven. But, as usual, he didn't listen and he was furious. Then, the front door bell rang, indicating that a customer had entered the bakery. Uncle left the kitchen and greeted the customer, informing me that he would continue the discussion once we got home. I gulped helplessly and started to clean the mess. When I heard the customer's voice I noticed immediately that it was him. Entering the kitchen, Nathan saw the mess and he saw me all drenched with water. He didn't look pleased and he turned to my uncle. He asked my uncle how much the cake was supposed to be. Uncle replied that it was worth twenty dollars. Nathan took out his wallet and took out one hundred dollars. He gave the money to my uncle calmly and uncle was just standing there, shocked. Overwhelmed with happiness, uncle ignored me and Nathan and walked over to the counter probably celebrating. I guessed that meant I won't be punished. Yay! When uncle left, Nathan walked closer to me and started to laugh loudly at my appearance. I frowned but when I saw his face, it was like magic. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. His blue eyes were more bright and his laugh was like some sort of melody that I could never get over with. His black hair was a bit ruffled but he looked handsome. I started to laugh as well and I thanked him immensely. He cut a piece out of the burnt cake and put it in his mouth even though I warned him not to. When he swallowed, he said that it was 'delicious' but I highly doubt that. I realised from yesterday that he is an important friend to me and that he really did care for me. That was not the first time he helped me and I feel so lucky right now that I have him in my life. He turns my dull, boring and forlorn days into something more... Colourful and vivacious. He is an amazing friend and I don't believe at all that I could find another friend who could be as good, as friendly and as funny, as him.' I had no words to describe how I felt at that moment. I couldn't believe that Prince Nathan was a caring type and that he had a side that was very friendly and childish. I almost spilled a tear since it was just so beautiful and romantic; the whole incident. A small part of me was, however, jealous of Sertia since she got to witness a side of Prince Nathan which was completely gone for good.
