Chapter 43

Billy" Wild Bills" POV

After leaving Darren to give his final discussion regarding his daughter, I went to check on Shawna. Ingrid had said that she had woken up and was resting right now. I went in and checked on her. Ingrid was still fussing over her, telling her not to get too excited and that everything would be fine. I told her I was glad she was okay. Even though she still looked pale. I guess the sight of blood had given her an upset stomach and overloaded her brain. She had grown up sheltered. This was because of her parents' wishes. I bet her real parents never thought that I would be her mate.

My father had been friends with her father. Then, when they were killed, my father felt it for days. One thing about our packs is that we are from ancient bloodlines. That is why we have been hunted down and killed by both humans and werewolves alike. It was only about 20 years ago that the council had started to enslave humans in Romania. Which was surprising when they said what they were doing. She assured me that she was fine. However, her tone told me differently; she was not fine. I also thought she had made a decision she was not telling me about; however, she would not tell me until the time was right. I did not feel anything bad coming from her, so I let the subject be. She then looked at me.

" Bill, is she still alive?"

" Yes, she is."

" She is going to be sent to Romania."

The look on her face told me that she was surprised that she was still alive. When I fired the shot, I had the muzzle of the gun towards the ground by the side of her head. I did that because I really did not want to kill her. She was a heartbroken teenager, not a ruthless killer. She was a human, not a werewolf. I told her from day one not to fall in love with me. It was all because she was a time-passer. Somebody to pass time with. I was not cold-hearted, but I did not let myself develop feelings for Lottie. If she had gotten pregnant with my pup, she would have died giving birth to it.

Humans can not have werewolf babies. From day one, it kills their body. I had made sure that she could not get pregnant with my pup. I would give her the morning-after pill. I was sending her away because it was the safest thing for her. A lot of the pack members were already calling for her death. She had endangered their Luna and Alpha. Alot of the pack members would not stand for that. Her companions have already been punished and let go. They were promised things that she could never deliver. They were more or less whipped and set free.

" Bill, I know this is probably a question I should not be asking, but do you still love her?"

" Shawna, she was just a piece of ass to me."

I could tell by her reaction that was not the answer that she wanted. But it was the truth.

" I never loved her."

" She was just there to pass the time."

" I have several to pass the time with."

I have slept with a lot of women to pass the time. I did have hormones and needs that needed tending to. I am the alpha of the pack, and we have insatiable sex drives.

" OH."

I knew that was not the answer she wanted either, but it was the truth. I was not going to start lying to her. There was no reason to do that. I wanted to be as honest with her as possible. There was one thing that was for sure: Shawna was not someone to pass time with. She is my mate, and therefore nothing would come between us. Even after learning what she had just learned about me, if she needed time to process everything, I would allow her that time. I could tell that she was getting tired, so I left the room. But not until Big Dog and Rabbit came and apologized to her. It was up to her what happened to them. They came in, bowed, and apologized. She forgave them, and they left.

They knew that they were still in trouble. So I will give them the night and day watches. I think punishment should be enough to make them understand the severity of their actions. I walked out of our room, and they were on their knees waiting for me. That was the custom.

"Alpha, we are so sorry."

They knew that I could have them killed for what they did. But that was not going to happen to them.

" Your Luna had forgiven you; I, however, order you to do double shifts for the next three days."

"Yes, Alpha."

I then went outside to my favorite tree to sit and think. My brother and the werewolf council will be here in the next few days. I needed to make sure the cabin was clean for them. On this land, there are over twenty cabins on this place. They all have running water and places for everyone. All my pack members live here. I have a house for all the single wolves, and then I have the warriors' quarters. The house I have in town is for married couples who want to send their kids to school. But when they reach thirteen, they have to come here to learn how to fight and watch people shift and things like that.

That was the rule that I had. They needed to be able to defend themselves. The humans and the pack. We were not just here to rule over them, but even to protect them. The cops looked the other way when we conducted our illegal business ventures. That was how we got money to do a lot. In fact, tomorrow evening we have a gun run. That would take us to the border of this state, and then we would be gone for a few days. I'm taking Shawna with us. I'm going to put her in a motel while we do business. I was lost in thought when Shawna came up to me. I pulled her into my lap. It was then that I noticed she had a change of clothes with her.

" What are you doing, princess?"

" I want you to train me, then help me shift again."

Even after a trying day, she wanted to do this. I was honestly shocked. The color had come into her cheeks.

"Alright, let's go."
