Chapter 135: Pheromone Storm
Ronan POV
The moment Elias let go… the world broke.
It wasn’t just a scent.
It was a storm.
It hit me first, hot, sharp, and overwhelming. My knees almost buckled as raw Omega pheromones tore through the hall like a tidal wave. The air turned thick, electric, alive.
“Elias…” I breathed.
His back was to me, shoulders straight, head lifted. But the power pouring out of him… it was nothing like before.
This wasn’t the gentle Omega scent I had memorized.
This was wild. Ancient. Terrifying.
Around us, the battlefield reacted instantly.
One of Darius’ guards gasped and collapsed to his knees. Another Alpha staggered backward, clawing at his throat like he couldn’t breathe.
“What…what is this?” someone shouted.
“Control yourselves!” another barked, but his voice shook.
Too late.
The pheromones intensified, crashing into every Alpha in the hall. Some dropped their weapons. Others fell completely, bodies trembling as their instincts went haywire.
I felt it too.
My wolf surged forward, roaring in my chest. Every instinct screamed at me to kneel, to submit, to claim, to protect, all at once.
“Damn it…” I pressed a hand to my chest. “Elias, slow down.”
He didn’t answer.
The floor beneath us vibrated faintly as his power kept rising. A faint glow surrounded him, subtle but unmistakable.
Kael staggered back behind me. “Ronan… he’s going to tear this place apart.”
“He won’t,” I said quickly, even though my voice came out strained. “He’s in control.”
But was he?
“Elias!” Mira called from the side. “Can you hear us?”
He inhaled sharply.
“I… I can hear you,” he said, voice low and almost breathless. “It’s just… louder now.”
I stepped closer carefully, fighting through the crushing force of his pheromones. Each step felt like pushing through a storm.
“Talk to me,” I said. “What are you feeling?”
He let out a shaky laugh that didn’t sound like him at all.
“Everything.”
He turned slightly, enough for me to see his face. His eyes glowed. Not faintly. Not subtly. They shone with raw, untamed power.
“I feel… strong,” he admitted, almost in disbelief. “Stronger than I’ve ever felt without the suppressants. Ronan… it’s like I can breathe for the first time.”
Relief and fear twisted together inside me.
“That’s good,” I said gently. “But you need to anchor yourself. Don’t let it consume you.”
“I’m trying,” he whispered. “It’s just… so much.”
Another wave surged outward.
Across the hall, more of Darius’ men dropped. Some Alphas fully collapsed now, overwhelmed by the pheromone pressure. Even trained Ascendants staggered, their perfect formation breaking apart.
“This is impossible,” one of them hissed. “An Omega can’t….”
“Shut up!” another snapped, falling to one knee. “Just….just shut up!”
Their strategy was crumbling right in front of us.
Kael let out a low whistle. “Well… that’s one way to destroy an army.”
“Stay focused,” I said, though a small part of me almost laughed. Darius’ perfectly controlled battlefield was falling apart because of one Omega.
My Omega.
The thought sent a fierce, possessive heat through me.
Elias swayed slightly.
I moved instantly, grabbing his arm. “Easy.”
The moment I touched him, a surge of energy shot through me. My wolf roared, reacting to his power like it had been waiting for this all along.
“Ronan…” he breathed, gripping my sleeve. “I don’t know if I can hold it steady.”
“You can,” I said firmly. “You’re not alone in this.”
His gaze locked onto mine, desperate and wild. “It feels… good. That’s the scary part. It feels too good.”
I understood immediately.
Power like this could become addictive.
“Listen to me,” I said, lowering my voice. “Don’t fight the strength. Just guide it. Let it flow through you, not out of control.”
“How?” he asked, almost helplessly.
I stepped closer, ignoring the chaos around us. Ignoring the collapsing enemies and the trembling hall.
“Focus on me,” I said.
He swallowed. “I am.”
“No,” I murmured. “Really focus.”
I closed my eyes briefly and let my own Alpha energy rise, not to dominate, not to challenge, but to stabilize.
To match him.
A deep, steady current pushed outward from me, weaving into the storm of his pheromones. The moment our energies touched, something clicked.
Elias gasped.
“Oh….”
“Breathe,” I said softly. “Take it in. Then release it slowly.”
He inhaled, shaky at first. Then deeper.
The wild surges around us steadied slightly, no longer exploding outward in chaotic bursts. Instead, they began to move in controlled waves, still powerful but less destructive.
“That’s it,” I encouraged. “You’re doing it.”
He gripped my arm tighter. “Ronan… I can feel you.”
“I’m right here.”
“No,” he said, voice trembling with awe. “I mean… I can feel you. Your strength. Your wolf. It’s… anchoring me.”
A faint smile touched my lips despite everything. “Good. Then use it.”
His shoulders relaxed just a fraction. The glow around him steadied, becoming less erratic.
Behind us, Kael exhaled loudly. “Okay. I can stand again. That’s a good sign.”
Mira wiped sweat from her forehead. “Remind me never to make Elias angry.”
Even I let out a small breath of relief.
For a moment, it felt like we might actually turn this around.
Then… Slow, deliberate clapping echoed through the hall.
Every instinct in my body snapped to attention.
Darius.
He stepped forward through the pheromone storm like it was nothing more than a light breeze. His expression held mild interest, almost amusement.
“Well,” he said calmly. “This is… impressive.”
My grip on Elias tightened. “Stay behind me.”
Elias shook his head softly. “No. He’s here for me.”
Darius stopped a few feet away, completely unshaken by the chaos that had destroyed his forces.
Around him, Alphas still struggled to stand. Guards remained on their knees. The air was thick with Elias’ overwhelming scent.
And yet…
Darius stood perfectly straight.
Unaffected.
“How are you still standing?” Kael demanded hoarsely.
Darius ignored him, eyes fixed only on Elias.
“So this is your true power,” he said quietly. “Magnificent. Raw. Exactly as I imagined.”
A chill slid down my spine.
Elias’ voice came out steady but wary. “You’re not affected.”
“Of course I am,” Darius replied smoothly. “I can feel it. The pressure. The command. The beauty of it.” He tilted his head slightly. “But unlike the others… I was prepared.”
My wolf snarled inside me.
“Prepared for what?” I asked coldly.
Darius’ lips curved into a faint smile.
“For you.”
The air shifted.
Danger slammed into my instincts so hard it felt like a physical blow.
I stepped in front of Elias fully now. “Don’t move.”
But Darius took another step forward, utterly calm within the raging pheromone storm.
And for the first time since Elias unleashed his power…
I felt something close to fear.
