Chapter 45 Two Days Absence
"Into the bed, Isabella."
A cold shiver ran through Isabella's nerves as she heard his cold chilling voice that added to the already cold weather.
Her feet stuck to the floor, unable to move as she looked at the bedsheet that had the proof of the activity that happened this morning.
She swallowed hard, and took a step back.
She didn't want what happened in the morning to repeat itself, although a part of her wished the opposite but she shoved it away.
"I will sleep on the couch." She said and turned to walk away,
"You will do no such thing." His deep icy tone gripped her bones and she paused involuntarily.
"Don't make me repeat myself, Isabella. Get into the bed." His voice was edged as he placed one of his arms on his forehead as if irritated by her behavior.
"I don't want to." She clenched the sides of her night dress tight, "what if I roll to your side again? I don't want to inconvenience you."
"When did I ever say you did?"
"You didn't but your actions—" she bit her lips, refusing herself to relive the yearning and hunger in his tone when he had begged for a kiss.
"You're here to satisfy me, Isabella. And as I promised, I won't take your lips. Matter of fact, squash that memory in your brain because that was a mistake from my part and I wouldn't request such from you anymore." He groaned excruciatingly.
A sharp pain exploded in Isabella's heart as she listened to him speak like it meant nothing to him but she ditched it.
It was for the best, since she knew that she was never going to kiss him even if he begged for it again.
"But what if—"
"Enough! Into the bed, Isabella. Unless you want to get dragged into it.
And I promise you, it will be the way you never expected. Now, get in."
With the little flutter of the lamp and the obscurity of the moon, she couldn't see the expressions on his face.
She bobbed her throat and sat at the edge of the bed, and pushed all her hair to the side of her left neck before she laid down and covered herself with sheets.
The silence stretched between them, despite the cold air, Isabella felt his warmness at her back and she couldn't stop her insides from aching from emptiness.
She could still feel the sense of his tongue on her sex, the way his fingers glided into her wet entrance like they belonged there.
She closed her eyes, forcing herself to sleep but now, they never came even though that was her intentions before seeing Nikolai on the bed.
"How did the shopping go?"
What?
Her body tensed upon his question.
"I bought lots of clothes and accessories. Anya, said it was okay to spend as much money as we wanted."
Isabella waited for him to say a word but he didn't.
She turned to face him and caught him already facing her.
His eyes low and broody as if trying to see through the sheer piece of her nightwear.
When she noticed a gaze similar to the hungry primal ones he had in the morning, heat instantly marred her cheeks and she turned right back.
She clutched the chest side of her dress in an attempt to calm her erratic beating heart.
Isabella, why are you acting like a high school girl who just had her first crush?! She questioned herself.
She bit her lips and pressed her eyes shut as long as possible.
This was indeed the first man her body was reacting this way for.
Did she seriously have to go check her body?
It couldn't possibly be true right?
She wasn't slowly having a carnal feeling for Nikolai right?
She hoped in her heart that even if she was, it would be nothing more than a fleeting feeling that would soon pass away with time.
She directed her mind to the memories of her mother.
Since, she couldn't sleep, she imagined her mother singing to her, the memory faint in her head but the little she remembered, she cooed herself to sleep.
.
.
Isabella woke up the next morning, to find the side of Nikolai's bed empty.
Nikolai had woken up before the chirping sound of the bed.
Isabella had rolled towards his side whilst sleeping but he didn't wake her.
Instead, he slipped away from her slowly and pushed her carefully to her side so she wouldn't notice.
He felt his dick poking him through his trousers and when he looked down, he was fully erected and active to devour the girl sleeping soundly in front of him.
'It shouldn't happen again!' He shook his head and walked out of the room.
Isabella, stared at the empty side, longer than expected and pushed herself up from the bed.
She didn't let her mind wander around and care for what she wasn't supposed to.
She freshened up and wore one of the new clothes she bought.
A flowery pastel blue dress.
Although, it looked not too extravagant but when gazed upon by a fashionista it was sure to catch attention.
She tied her golden blonde her in a messy bun so they wouldn't get disturbed by the blowing wind and stepped down for breakfast.
She wasn't surprised to not see Nikolai present.
'He must have ran off somewhere.'
Two days passed and Nikolai didn't return to the house.
Isabella felt his absence but she didn't want to think much of it as she spent more time with Anya and visiting the library.
During her time with Anya, she vaguely learnt that Nikolai and Aleksandr were like biological brothers.
Actually they were three but they both fell off with one who had distanced himself from them.
They weren't enemies but as Isabella listened to the vague story, she couldn't help but think about Nikolai's ambush.
"Was the third person, 'Lavrentiy'?'' She thought inside unable to ask the question because Anya was purposely giving her vague answers and story.
She focused back on a book.
It wasn't her business on who had planned to attack Nikolai. This, she constantly told herself.
Away from there, Nikolai was with Aleksandr in one of his clubs.
He had tempted himself by going back there at night and he wished to stay away from her as long as possible until he had control of his body.
"Have you heard anything about Sterling Corporation?" Nikolai asked Aleksandr who was sitting across him.
"Not really. If you want I can get information about them. Anything specific you wanna know?"
"Yes. I need information from 20 years ago. Was the CEO ever married and was there a time he was married or rumored to have a daughter."
Aleksandr chuckled as he drank from his glass, "Would you let me in on why you need this information?"
"No."Nikolai answered immediately. "I would need the document to be ready by noon."
