Chapter 21 021

Chapter 21 021
Danica's POV

Bianca and I decided to talk through the entire night. We literally shared all the funny, weird, and scary experiences we had while we were apart and how she'd gone crazy thinking I was really gone for good and she hadn't gotten to see my corpse.

That's how crazy my dear friend could be.

She had risked her own safety all the way here to see my corpse. It sounded crazy and we'd practically laughed it off but deep down, I knew I would do the same. Hell, mine might be even worse than just climbing the tall secured windows of the Pack house.

About how she found me or how she knew I was in here, apparently, she had been around here not too long after I walked into a bittersweet trap. She had been stuck trying to sniff me out but had failed for hours. Just as she gave up… or decided to give up, she'd started to leave with slumped shoulders to find a place to sleep safely until the next day when she planned to confront Alpha Alexander himself.

“You're crazy, really, Bee! You were actually going to do that?” I half yelled and she blinked.

“I know, I am. No self denial anywhere like someone right here” she muttered, indirectly attacking me after I shared my whole twisted experience with Alexander.

“Next time, I won't let you in on a TMI,” I said sternly, giving a playful promise.

“That guy obviously likes you, Danica. Why won't you let him in on the big secret” she asked for the third time in just three hours and sighed inaudibly.

Call me a coward, but a man with class like Alexander, the king of all wolves in this powerful pack would never accept the wolfless omega his subordinate rejected and humiliated publicly. I became a celebrity long ago… but in a pathetic way.

“After spending years to build a reputation, I doubt a person like Alexander would want to stain it with the rumors of him being mated to the Pack's pushover. The one who loves to seek attention by pretending to know about being a doctor— as they all say.”

“Who the hell said something like that? That you're an attention seeking pretender?” She asked immediately, sitting up on the wide bed.

“People. Everyone who knows the truth about the wolfless and useless Omega” I responded and I saw her fighting the emotions that rose to her throat.

“I hate it when you talk like that, Danica. You know that's not the truth but you think doing this would give you the sense of peace you want? Of course not! It would only bring withdrawal. You've been withdrawn from everyone for literally all your entire life, I don't want to watch you do that again” she muttered and I blinked back the tears that brimmed beneath my eyelids.

She's right. This was only a way I invented to keep myself immune to every condemnation I faced out there. By accepting everything people said about me.

“The Danica I became friends with was always positive even when her world began to fall apart. She was strong, kind, always full of spirit. She would encourage a friend who had her wolf to be strong even when she doesn't have hers… And I know she's still right there, hiding under the mask of countless excuses” she muttered, pointing at my heart and I sniffled back my tears as I sat up in bed to hug her.

“You're saying all these to show me your perspective in this situation, but why don't I feel convinced?” I muttered, my devastation evident in my tone but she wrapped her arms around me reassuringly.

“That's because I haven't beaten some sense into you” she muttered in the same tone and I giggled despite myself.

“I love you, dear friend” I murmured sweetly, snuggling my face conveniently against her shoulders.

“I'm hungry, dear friend” she responded and as if in cue, her stomach grumbled to back up her words.

“Right. Talk about being a bad host. But then again, this ain't no home of mine”, I told her and she gave me her usual ‘dont-tell-me-that-nonsense’ look.

“You know what? I think it's time to use that ‘call me when you need anything’ card” she said without hesitation and I frowned, slightly confused.

“Come on, didn't he say you should tell him when you need anything else?” She added and I shook my head quickly.

“And then what? Go out in search of him by this time of the night? Because I need food? I won't be the only one dying, it would be both of us”

“Fine. We can always sneak out and look for the kitchen. It can't be so hard to find, can it?” She suggested immediately, almost as if she'd been expecting me to refuse her first suggestion.
