Chapter 80: Azrael
Chapter 80: Azrael
“My name is Azrael. I am the Alpha of the Moon Goddess White Moon’s warriors.”
Oh, dear Goddess!
So this is the legendary White Moon’s warrior called Azrael.
Marcus looked at Azrael as he said, ”It is truly an honor to meet you as we all heard so many stories about you and your warriors how you freed the lands from tyrants and brought peace to us all.”
Azrael silently nodded his head as he kept his eyes on him, watching him carefully.
“You said you came here seeking for our help. Why do you need our help for?” Azrael asked.
"I am not sure if you heard of the Law that was placed upon every shifter in this world, preventing us to be with the one that the Moon Goddess has paired us with," Marcus said to him as Azrael showed no emotion or way for us to know whether he knew or he didn't about this.
Marcus didn't lose his hope as he continued, "Because of such Law, my mate Olivia and I, we were brought to Elders council court and if we haven't been rescued and escape from there, they would have forced us to reject each other then."
Azrael's eyes looked away from him as he looked down at me for a moment before looking back at Marcus, "No one can force a rejection to happen especially if the mating is completed, so I am guessing you two at that time weren’t mated.”
Marcus nodded his head as he continued, "Yes at that time, we didn't fully complete it as it is now, but because of our escape, now we and our friends are hunted down by Elders and their warriors."
A snort came from the brown hair man that was all this time silently standing next to Azrael.
“And why are you here then?” Azrael asked with narrowed eyes.
"We need your help as I said earlier, to take down the Law and give freedom to all shifters to freely accept their given mates and be happy together as they all should be," Marcus said to him.
There was a moment of silence as everyone waited for Azrael's decision.
My heart was racing in my chest as I was holding my breath, feeling like hours have passed by before he finally spoke, “I admire your courage but unless the Goddess herself tells us to get involved we cannot interfere in such manners as we are created to serve her and her will.”
I felt as my heart stopped beating hearing his words, feeling discouraged as he denied to help us.
Marcus was silently for a moment watching at Azrael, I could feel his hand slip into my own as he turned his head towards me and said, "Come, my love, we have no business here left."
Azrael was silently watching us as we all turned around and started to walk towards the passage that was showing a little further ahead of us.
“Hold him.” I heard Jessabelle speak in my mind making me scrunch my brows above my eyes.
“What do you mean? Hold who?” I asked her silently.
“Azrael, touch his hand and he will see me and hear my words.” She said to me.
“Why can’t he see or hear you without me touching his arm? Isn’t he your warrior?” I asked confused.
"They are down here for far too long, with your touch my connection with my warriors will grow once more. Now hurry and do as I said." She said in a rush.
Taking out my hand from Marcus's hand, I turned around and ran back towards Azrael, who was still silently standing in the same place where we left him and his warriors.
His eyes looked at me in confusion when he saw me running towards him, and I could hear Marcus and my friends calling my name as they rushed after me.
Before anyone of them could catch me, I sprinted towards Azrael.
Azrael extended his hand and was about to speak when I jumped and grabbed his arm, closing my eyes.
I could see the moment after I held Azrael's arm, that we were at the same place where I have to meet Jessabelle.
“What are we doing here?” Azrael said as he turned around, looking everywhere until his eyes landed on me.
"What? How?" He asked, watching me with thoughtful eyes.
I saw Jessabelle appear behind his back, as she slowly approached us.
"Look behind you," I said to him as he raised his brow in question but did as I told him.
As he slowly turned around, I heard his breath hitch as he said, “My Goddess.”
He kneeled down with his head hanging down, not daring to look up at her or to speak.
Jessabelle walked closer to him not stopping until she was right in front of him.
She held his chin making him look up towards her, "Stand up my dear son."
He stood up, as she continued to speak, "It has been a while that we have seen each other, but now the time has come and, you, my dear son are needed to go out into the world and fight the injustice that was ruling over for far too long.”
“What do you need me to do Goddess?” he asked her as she caressed his cheek.
“You and my warriors are to help Olivia and Marcus fulfill their destiny that they are brought to this life for.” She told him.
“But Goddess, are you asking of your warriors to fight with those Elder’s?” Azrael asked her.
"You, my son, will know when the right time for all of my warriors to fight is, but I want you to protect my children that are suffering because of this Law. Take the Law down and reclaim the rights for mates to be together as they should be." She told him as he nodded his head.
"How can I see you again? I tried to seek your guidance for so long and I couldn't reach you until now." He asked her.
She exhaled before she answered, “Because I have kept you all locked for far too long that it was needed, but now our link is repaired and you can reach me as you always could before.” She answered as slowly she started to retreat into the light from which she appeared.
“Azrael! Two Alphas cannot lead my warriors.” Her voice was heard only as her body disappeared, making us both look at each other at her words.
Taking a deep breath before blowing it out, Azrael asked into the sky, “What am I to do?”
“You will fight for the position against Marcus.” She said making my eyes grow wide while Azrael was silent for a moment.
"As you wish my Goddess," Azrael said as he turned around towards me and walked slowly.
“Shall we return back now?” he asked me as I silently nodded my head.
He extended his hand as I placed mine in his and the gust of wind lifted us up until in the next moment it placed us gently down onto the ground.
"Olivia!" I heard my name being called, making me open my eyes to see Marcus shaking my shoulders as worry was shining out from his eyes.
I turned my head to see where was I and I could see I was in the same what seemed to be training ground that I was a few moments ago.
Azrael was standing up from the ground as his eyes never left mine, closing his eyes he nodded his head.
I stood up, wrapped in Marcus's arms as he said, "Let's go my love. Hold onto me."
Marcus started to turn us around when Azrael said, “Wait!”
We stopped and turned to look at him, waiting for what he was to say.
Azrael looked at us all as he turned around and spoke to his warriors, “I’ve seen our Goddess, and she wants us to go and help them take down that Law and reclaim peace again in the world.”
Warriors made a stance as they one by one stood next to each other, listening carefully to their leader.
Azrael turned around towards us and said, “My warriors and I will help you in your quest and fulfill the wishes of the Moon Goddess. Injustice will be put down starting with that Law.”
"You will go with us to the Elders?" Damon asked him as he walked next to Marcus and me.
Azrael nodded his head, “Yes we will.” As his eyes looked over Marcus for a second before he continued, “The White Moon’s warriors can be led only by one Alpha…”
Damon and Marcus looked at him confused, as everyone silently waited for Azrael to continue and say what he meant.
Marcus said, “Yes we all know that, and no one is here to try to take over your lead, which is nearly impossible to do.”
Azrael chuckled, "For others, it is but you are different, and as Goddess has said, you and I will have a challenge for the position of the White Moon's warrior's leader Alpha."
"A challenge?" Marcus asked feeling bewildered as everyone else gasped at hearing the news, wide-eyed listening to what Azrael will say.
“Yes, a challenge. You can warm up and soon as you are ready, the challenge will start.” Azrael said as he turned around and walked towards one of the training rings.
