Chapter 8

Bryn's POV

After the phone call I handed back the Luna's phone with a smile. It was nice to talk to Nick, even after all this time. The Luna smiled at me, "Thank you" I say and she nods, "Your welcome" She says and I smile, then I remembered Jennifer. "Oh, can you take me to see my daughter?" I ask and she nods grabbing my hand and leading me down that stairs.

"I'm sorry but I don't know your name?" I ask her considering I had no idea what her name is. "Call me April" She said and I nodded allowing her to drag me through the house and into a smaller lounge filled with kid toys. I saw a young boy playing with Jennifer, and I assumed he was April's son. When Jennifer saw me, she jumped and ran over to me, "Mummy!" She squealed jumping up into my arms and I hugged her close to my chest.

"Hey sweetie" I said kissing her little checks and she smiled. "When can I see daddy again?" She asks and a frown immediately settles across my face. "Soon I hope sweetie" I say brushing the stray hair out of her cute little face. She looked so disappointed and it hurt my heart. "I hope you don't mind me asking, who is her father?" She asks and I place Jennifer down on the ground and walked out of the room with April following behind me. Once we were out of the room, I turned to face her, "Her father was part of the group of rogues that kidnapped me, but he was nice and we've been friends for 10 years. I loved him as a brother and he loved me the same, Then of course I went into heat and without a mate and without a wolf the heat would have killed me. But instead he helped me out and I gave birth to Jennifer" I say and she nodded absorbing the information.

"He didn't mate with you, did he?" She ask and I shook my head, and her eyes widened in surprise. "Wow it's extremely hard for an un-mated male in love with a girl not to mark her during heat, he must have a lot of self-control" She told me and I nodded never actually realizing how much control he really did have. Even if he didn't love me romantically, any kind of love would trigger his wolf.

"Yeah, he knew I had a mate so he just did what he had too I guess" I said with a shrug and she nodded. "So, when is your mate coming?" She asked and I smiled, "He'll be here soon I hope" I said and she smiled nodding. "April!" Matt shouted through the house and she ran down the hall back into the main living room. Starting to panic I grab Jennifer from the playroom and ran after April.

Back in the living room the room was swarmed with guards and everyone was shouting. I ran over to April "What's going on?" I ask and she frowns, "Our neighbouring pack been trying to take over for years, and they’re currently attacking" She snarls and I sigh, crap what's with wolfs these days! Just leave everyone the fuck alone!

"Everyone get into attack positions!" The Alpha commanded and everyone in his pack ran out to defend the pack. The Alpha turned to his mate and looked unsure of what to do, and I instantly knew what he was thinking. "Don't worry I promise to protect April with my life, your pack needs you so go fight" I told him and he looked unsure for a moment, but he nodded before running off.

April turned to face me with a frown, "You can't risk your life to protect me!" She snapped and I growled, "I was a warrior way before I was a Luna, even without my wolf I can fight better than half those idiots now follow me" I order and she obeys following me down the hall. I open the kids’ room and tell April to grab the kid and she grabs her child and follows after me.

I run up the stairs and opened the door and stashed the Luna and the future Alpha inside. "Why are we in here?" She asks and I shh her. "Your room is so filled with your scent it would be obvious to where you are, in here your scent will be fresh but not as easy to detect" I told her and she nodded with a smile.

"You're smart" She said and I nodded, I went over to the window and opened it up and looked around. Luckily, we were on the second floor, with no trees nearby so no one could get in through the window. So, I keep it open for an easy exit if a wolf breaks down the door, I could only hope I could protect the Luna. I'd never forget myself if she died under my protection.

I could hear that the fight had already started and it was vicious. I could hear the growls and snarls from here. I listened silently and heard someone break down the pack front door, and their scent definitely didn't belong to the pack. "April get over by the window and if someone breaks down the door jump out the window and run into the forest, I'll fight them off" I told her and she went over by the window and shook her head. "I can't let you do that" She said and I stared at her, "Nothing you can say will stop me from my duty, it's always been my job to protect other pack's in need" I say and she sighed knowing there was no way she could convince me otherwise.

I once again listened quietly and frowned when I heard the footsteps from downstairs getting closer. In a flash someone was barging into the door trying to break it down. "April take the pups and jump out the window" I ordered but I never heard a reply only the sound of her feet hitting the grass and the sound of the door breaking off its hinges. Two large werewolves entered the room and snarled when they saw me.

I felt an itch crawl up my body as the men took intimidating steps forward. The itch continued upward like a thick hot rash, as the feeling covered my whole body it's like I snapped. A dormant gene hidden far away in my soul snapped and I felt my warrior strength emerging from within. The men growled before lounging, and it was like I had no control over my body. I dodged #1 hit and punched him in the head making him stumble backwards. While he was recovering guy #2 came at me punching my gut and it was as I didn't feel the pain as I spun around and sent a strong kick to his head and he collapsed to the ground. I heard a loud crunch as I landed and he stopped breathing. He was dead, while I was distracted guy #1 creeped up from behind and had me in a head lock. I elbowed him in the gut causing him to loosen his grip enough for me to escape from his grip turn around and knee his family jewels. He growled dropping to his knees and my hands gripped his neck before snapping it.

The wolfs both laid on the ground dead and I sprinted to the window diving through it. I landed on my feet and ran off following the Luna's scent to where she ran off into the forest...
