Chapter 31: Thirty-one
Waking up in Zach's apartment wasn't what Maisie had in mind the next morning she woke up, but she must have been stupid to think that she could have just kissed him, and it would end at that, kissing. After Zach had sex with her the first time, he took her to his car then his apartment. Where her brain went to while all these were happening, she would never know but she did know that she didn't regret one minute of it. At least Zach left the issue of making her tell him where they met. And she might be able to distract him whenever he brings up the issue.
“My ego is bruised.” Zach's sleepy voice said behind her as the arm anchoring her to a hard male body behind her tightened. “You are in my bed and your mind is a thousand miles away.”
“You are asleep, jerk.” Maisie said with a smile as she turns to face Zach who was slowly becoming awake.
“Morning.” Zach whispered as Maisie used her hand to touch Zach's face. “Morning.”
“I can't believe that this is real.” Maisie whispered still using her hand to stroke along Zach's jawline.
Zach's face pulled into a grimace. “Was that how much of a douche I was?”
“You were perfect, I knew that nothing could happen between us but that didn't stop me from falling. I tried to hide it the best I could, but I just couldn't.” Maisie said with a shrug.
Zach smiled at her, “tell me how we met.”
Maisie froze, she was dumb. He wasn't asking anything about them, and she had to open her mouth to start that conversation. “I need to be more comfortable with you before I can open up about our past relationship.”
Zach stared into Maisie's eyes and he could see the worry in them. She was keeping something from him, and he would get it out of her but for now, he would be content to just enjoy his relationship with his girlfriend. Zach felt happy about addressing Maisie like that, it was better than addressing Vivienne like that. Thinking of Vivienne as his girlfriend left a bad taste in his mouth. “Of course! Don't worry about me forcing you to open up. I know you will when you are ready, and I will be here for you when you do.”
“Thank you, Zach. We have only started dating less than 24 hours ago but you have become the best boyfriend I have ever had.” Maisie said jokingly knowing that Zach's next words would be those of bragging and she was not disappointed.
“Of course, I am the best. I am always the best when it comes to anything.” Zach said in a completely serious tone that made Maisie laugh out loud.
“Come on, we need to get up. I am famished.” Maisie said as she stood up and walked to Zach's bathroom to get a robe, she tossed another robe at Zach and saw him smiling. “If that smile is there because of what I think it is. You better remove it.”
“I was pretty awesome," Zach said and quickly used his hand to cover his face as Maisie threw a pillow at him. “One day you will admit that.”
“Maybe but that one day isn't here. Come in, let's go eat. I do hope you have food in your apartment.”

After eating, Maisie went to search for her bag and when she saw it, another call had just ended. She went through her phone and saw that it was Anthony. She quickly read the messages that he sent to her and then she noticed the time and day. “Zach.” Maisie called out.
“We are late.” Maisie said as soon as Zach came into the sitting room
“I thought that we would spend all day lazing around.” Zach said with confusion in his voice.
“Why would I do that. I have a job.” Maisie said with her voice a higher pitch than normal.
“I know you do. But we woke up late and I thought that you might not want to go in late.” Zach said with more seriousness when he noticed that Maisie looks like she was on the verge of panicking.
“We need to talk about this Zach, just because I am dating the boss doesn't mean that I will take special courtesies. I would prefer it if we keep the relationship a secret in the office.” Maisie suggested but Zach was already shaking his head.
“I understand why you don't want special courtesies but there is no way I will purposely hide my relationship with you at work.” Zach said already thinking about Anthony. Yes, it would do well if Anthony got to know that she was taken. He had only been dating her for 16 hours, he knew that he couldn't start telling her what to do and not to do. Nothing will make them split faster and he’d rather have her in his life as his girlfriend. Nothing will show Anthony that Maisie was his more than PDAs, and that was what he wanted to do.
“Zach be serious.” Maisie snapped.
“I am serious.”
“The human resources team frown against romantic relationships in the workplace.” Maisie reminded Zach.
“Then it is a good thing I am the boss. All they can do is to frown. They tried to say anything I will kick their asses to the curb.”
“Zach, I am serious.” Maisie groaned.
“So am I. I wanted to touch you in public. I want to hug you when you are having a hard day, I want to be able to have conversations with you that are not work-related. I want to be able to kiss you and watch you laugh with a smile. I don't want to hide my expressions when you do things that amaze me. Neither do I want to act like we are just co-workers.” Zach explains.
“Fine, but can we just act normal not going all out with guns blazing and a sign that announces that we are dating.” Maisie asked
“Fine, I will try. But if I do have an impulse of kissing you. I will go with it.” Zach said.
Maisie thought about it for a while. “I guess that this is the point which we agree on. Since you won't accept anything else.”
“You are right, I won't.” Zach replies.
“Fine, now get dressed so that you can take me to my apartment.” Maisie said.
“Don't tell me that you still want to go to work.” Zach groans.
“Of course, I do. Half-day work is better than none.” Maisie replied as Zach grumbled but moved to his room to change his clothes.
