Chapter 47: Wrong Time

Lucian's POV

Tears started to fall from her eyes without control.

She tried to speak, but no sound came out except choking gasps.

She clawed at my hand, slapping at my fingers weakly, trying hard to save herself but the more she struggled, the weaker she became.

Her body trembled violently, her legs kicking helplessly in the air as she struggled against my grip.

She was losing strength too quickly, and her hands grew weaker with every passing second.

Slowly, her arms fell to her sides, and her body went limp in my grip.

Seems like the fight had just drained out of her.

Even as I noticed how limp Tessa's body had become, I still didn't let go of her—I couldn't. I was just too consumed by my rage. I didn't realize I was about to take the life out of her.

It was at that moment Dominic stormed forward. Without hesitation, he rushed at me, grabbed my arm, and yanked me back with brutal force.

“Lucian! What the hell are you doing?!” he shouted, holding me back to keep me away from the unconscious woman.

Tessa on the other hand had already dropped to the ground, coughing violently like someone who swallowed a spoon.

“FUCK, Lucian! She could die!” Dominic yelled angrily. “Are you insane?”

My eyes were dead red and I looked like I didn’t even recognize myself.

Tessa was still on her knees, coughing hard, and clutching her throat so hard.

She gasped for air like someone who had just come back from drowning.

Tears mixed with blood on her face.

I glanced at her on the floor, I can't believe I was just seconds away from hurting a woman.

If Dominic hadn't come at me, so that's how she could have just died like it was nothing.

No, this is not me.

This is not my best.

What have I become?

What am I becoming every single day?

It feels like I'm only getting worse day after day.

I kept staring at Tessa on the floor, shocked at my own actions.

I didn't even know when the word left my mouth, “I’m sorry,” I muttered weakly, confused, breathing hard.

I didn’t even know who I was apologizing to—maybe Tessa. Maybe Dominic. Or maybe myself… for finally losing control and hurting someone close to me, someone I was supposed to protect, someone who has done nothing but always followed my orders. These people, I owe them protection, and yet look at me—becoming the very thing I hated.

Dominic stepped in front of me again. “You need to get a hold of yourself, man,” he said firmly. “You don’t hurt other bitches because you were hurt by a bigger bitch.” His voice had suddenly gone harsh now.

He didn’t give me a break. He continued, “Riley hurt you, yeah. She betrayed you. But that doesn’t mean you destroy everyone else.”

Dominic shook his head sharply, disappointment thick in his expression. “Anger won’t fix this. Violence won’t bring answers. It won’t heal anything. You think choking her will change the past? It won’t.” He stepped closer. “Control yourself before you become someone you can’t come back from.”

I looked around slowly, like I was just waking up from a scary dream.

I looked completely terrified and my breathing was still heavy—it refused to slow down.

Without saying anything, I suddenly walked past Dominic and matched toward the door.

“Where are you going?” Dominic turned around and asked sharply.

“To the restroom,” I replied coldly without looking back. “And don’t you dare come with me. Stay here.” I fired

And with that, I walked out of the waiting room and slammed the door shut behind me.

I was furious at myself. Disgusted by what I’d just done to Tessa. I was never supposed to treat a woman like that—it was wrong.

And yet… I still couldn’t believe I had.
