Marcelo betrayed her
He was no different from Mary. He was in no way different from her mother who had kept her in the dark.
"She had to, for your sake, she trusted you to me" Marcelo continued. And Theressa scoffed, swallowed, gazed up at Marcelo.
"And you…knew?" Theressa questioned, her voice barely above a whisper as she seemed betrayed.
"I thought you care about me?" Theressa muttered.
"You would have atleast told me what my mum is up to" Disappointment settles over Theressa like a heavy blanket as she stared up at Marcelo that could say nothing, do nothing just stare down at her with pity and Theressa hated that look.
Theressa got to her feet, wiping the tears off her cheek as she turned her back to Marcelo.
"I'll get a report done after tomorrow's activities" Theressa muttered with her back facing Marcelo before she proceeded to ascend the stairs.
The night had passed by with Theressa reminiscing every moment with her father, with Mary, her mother.
Mary had dated a gangster before Theressa father, Theressa had no detail about her mother's ex relationships but they had killed her father just because Mary tried to leave their gang, because her mother had left their leader to build her family.
And Theresa's could only wonder if her father was aware of her mother's past.
Theressa wanted to know more, needed to know more, if no one was going to give her a clear answer she would search for it, she would search for her father's killer and so immediately after her business with one of the mafia members in charge of smuggling the next day, she left for their home.
She has to find something, something useful, something related to her father's death.
It hurt Theressa a million times more to discover her father's death was a planned one, he died unjust fully. An innocent man dies unjust fully.
A tear tricked down her cheeks as she wiped the family picture on her bed side with her palm.
She really was searching for a clue, something useful to get to her father's killer left over that caused her to let out bitter tears, bitter sobs. She wanted to relive those peaceful happy moments.
Theressa had turned every room in the house upside down but still she was yet to find anything not even a single information. It was getting dark and she was still yet to find anything, she sank down to the floor, her head bent low as she felt useless. She can't do anything, she can't even think about how, where to get a clue.
She sat with the invisible weight on her shoulder before she made an attempt to stand on her feet.
Theressa couldn't even bring herself to cry anymore her feet kicked through the paper as she proceeded to leave the house.
However, her eyes had caught something, something on the floor, a document, a paper document with a male's passport, he looked like he was in his late fourty's but Theressa could not recognize this man he was in no way familiar.
She picked up the document to read the content, it was a receipt and a passport laid on it. Though the passport was not pinned to paper, Theressa guessed it had something to do with the receipt.
Her eyes went down the paper, eyes squinted, brows furrowed as she struggled to understand the content.
It was a reciept from the cemetery. It had the same location as the one she and Mary had gone to the day before. But the grave plot was not assigned to her father.
Theressa's brow furrowed more, her heart beating faster with every passing second as she tried connecting the dot. This wasn't her father's grave.
Theressa went on her knees searching for something, something related to the receipt, fortunately she found a certificate of burial, a space at one end of the certificate, clearly the passport space.
The burial certificate wasn't her father's, own the name was different.
Theressa's mind had reeled back to their visit to the cemetery, she recalled the words her mum used to whisper, the words she thought was gibberish because she never understand.
"He's. Not. The. One"
Her father wasn't the one in that grave. That grave plot belonged to someone.
There was no sound in the whole house but Theressa didn't find it creepy. She didn't find anything creepy until the entrance door creaked open and someone walked in.
Theressa was still, every of her bones frozen aside her hand that slowly made its way to her denim jeans back pocket, she refused to look up at the intruder as she pulled out the pocket knife slowly. This person steps were slow and steady walking towards Theressa, from the shoes Theressa could tell it was a man. And suddenly he came to a stop, then he attempted to take another step and Theressa sprang to her feet, knife swinging to the male's throat before Theressa finally got a look at the male's face. His eyes widened with fear, hands up in air.
"Justin?" Theressa brow furrowed.
"Yes please…the knife" Justin pointed at the knife aimed at his throat scared to move an inch.
Theressa did retreat the knife but still wondered why he was here.
"Why are you here?" She questioned without hesitation.
"I've been looking for you, I went to the hospital but your mum was already discharged and I came here but no one was ever around" Justin explained, worry laced in his tone but it only pissed Theressa off more.
"I don't live here anymore" Theressa stated as she made her way outside the house with a relentless Justin following.
"Why, where do you stay now? Can I see you more?"
"Can you stop!" Theressa scolded
Six months ago, when Theressa was still in love with Justin, still wanted to atleast save their friendship. If this was six months ago, she wouldn't feel this disgusted, Justin's voice will sound soothing to her ears and not like an insect that dusturbed her day.
"I'm genuinely sorry, Just give me a chance to explain" Justin pleaded. Theressa finally noticed the dark circles under his eyes, he looked stressed.
"And what about Eunice?" Theressa finally asked, she had been curious about her since Justin met her at the hospital.
"She left, I couldn't be with her, I couldn't stand her because I couldn't forget you" Justin confessed and Theressa…
She laughed. She laughed so hard as she opened her car door. One of Marcelo's best cars.
"Are you with him? You know he doesn't love you right?" Justin blurted. That pitiful look wiped off his face as he stared at Theressa causing Theressa to shiver.
Justin looked so creepy. Theresa's almost flinched at his switch, but she drove off leaving him to stand alone in the dark.
Just like he did to her
