Chapter 29: Chapter 0029

"Bloody shit. You will regret this, Antonio. You will regret this," I muttered to myself as I paced around the room.
The door creaked open, and I turned around with a shocked expression when someone walked in.
"Who are you?" I asked the strange guy as he closed the door behind him, and placed his hands over his stomach.
Since Melo was dead, this was probably another Melo sent to watch me in case I planned another escape.
"Morning, Miss Albero. I am Kyle. Mr. Rodriguez instructed me to be your bodyguard and your chauffeur," he answered.
"My chauffeur?" I asked as I walked toward him.
He nodded. "Yes."
"I want to go somewhere right now. Will you take me?" I smirked, realizing Antonio was giving me another chance to escape.
When Antonio left a few hours ago, he was determined to keep me locked up in the house for as long as he wanted me to be.
I didn't know what had changed his mind, but I was happy he did. It didn't make sense that after what I had done for him to find him, he'd turn around and make me his prisoner again.
"Yes," Kyle answered. "I can take you wherever you want to go in Atlanta."
"Good," I answered, smiling. "I want you to take me somewhere right now."
I already had my bath and only needed him to take me to Sarah. She and I had a lot to discuss even though she was probably still tired from her shift at the club.
When we reached the car outside the driveway, Kyle took a package from the backseat and handed it to me.
I opened it with curiosity and found a cell phone inside.
It was as if Antonio knew that Dante had taken my cell phone when he was holding me hostage.
I smiled and turned on the cell phone. As soon as it was on, a text came through.
Antonio: "Don't make me regret it, Isabella. This phone is for your personal use, and not for you to conspire behind my back."
I chuckled softly as I archived the text and quickly slid the cell phone inside my pocket as the car took off.
When we got to Sarah's apartment, Kyle hopped out of the car and followed me inside.
"Bella, hey!" Sarah squealed when she opened the door and saw me. "My goodness, I was so worried about you. Please don't scare me like that again."
She and I hugged for a brief moment before she opened the door and let Kyle and me inside.
"Who is he? And why is he here?" Sarah whispered to me as we headed to her living room couch while Kyle followed behind us.
"I have a bodyguard now," I whispered back. "He follows me around like a hawk."
"What happened to you?" She asked when we sat down on the couch.
I turned to Kyle. "Hey Kyle, can I have a little private moment with my friend?"
He nodded and went to stand far off down the hallway.
"You were right about Dante. If Antonio hadn't shown up for me, his brother Enzo could have killed me. Can you believe that Tom's father killed their parents?"
She looked at me with eyes wide open. "What are you going to do now, Bella? Dante and his brothers will come after you and Antonio. They won't stop."
"Something else happened."
"What happened?"
"They killed Diego, his brother," I answered.
"What? Fuck, Bella. You're screwed. Dante will—"
I interjected as I rolled my eyes. "I know, Sarah. He will kill me when he finds me. Which is why Antonio hired Kyle to be my bodyguard, I think."
"What's the plan now? Are you going to stay with him?" She asked.
"No, I am planning to talk with my father and see if he could help me pay off the 75% of the money that Antonio paid him. I want nothing to do with him anymore."
"Do you think your Father will agree?"
"I am sure he can spare 75% of the money he got. He couldn't have spent more than 10% of the money."
Sarah sighed. "I hope he will be able to help you. He's your father. And if he does, please promise me that you will get out of this place until the dust settles and the Conti are gone forever."
I placed my hand on top of hers. "I promise, Sarah."
My day with Sarah went by very quickly. She made lunch for us, and we ate before she had to prepare for her shift again at 5 PM.
When she headed to work, I asked Kyle to drive me to my father's house.
After hopping out of the car, I stood outside for a moment and stared at the house.
I tried to suppress the thought of my father selling me to Antonio and headed inside. I was so surprised to find it quiet. It looked like no one was home.
"Dad!" I called out from the hallway, staring down at the floor with empty beer bottles.
No one answered. I checked the living room, but there was no sign of him.
I decided to go up the stairs to his bedroom but when I got there, the bed was made up and there was no sign of him.
"Dad?!" I called one more time before deciding to head down the stairs to leave.
But before I could take a step on the staircase, I heard muffled sounds from the bathroom.
I rushed to the bathroom when I realized that it was my father. When I got to the bathroom, I found him lying on the cold floor with bruises on his face.
"Dad, what happened?" I asked in horror as I knelt beside him, trying to inspect his bruises.
"They came back," he muttered as I tried to get him off the floor. "They came back to finish what they had started."
It was very cold and he was not wearing any warm clothes.
"Who came back?" My chest tightened when I remembered that Dante did mention that my father was there when Tom's father killed his parents.
"You have to go, Bella. I am so sorry for everything, but you have to go," he muttered. "They can't find you here when they come back."
"Kyle!" I called out for him.
I wasn't about to let my father die.
"They killed your mother," he whispered. "They killed her and my unborn son."
