Chapter 7
Everything returned to normal.
I went to school as usual, my grandfather continued to see patients.
Kevin never appeared again.
But on several evenings when I returned home from school, I felt like someone was following me.
But every time I turned around suddenly, there was no one behind me, only a few screams coming from the alley.
“Lately, there have been several vicious incidents in this area, people have died...” my optimistic grandfather frowned, “If you want to go home, come back during the day. If you really want to come back at night, I'll come pick you up.”
“Oh. Okay.” I basically stopped going out at night.
Actually, I thought of one person, but I never sent him a message to ask.
It wasn't until Katie's birthday, when she invited classmates to go to a bar, that I finally went out at night for once.
And on that one occasion, I ran into my ex-boyfriend, Timothy Adams.
Timothy was an exemplary student in our school's police academy, coming from a family of policemen. When his mother heard that we were together, she immediately made him break up with me.
“Timothy is already from a single-parent family. This is my lifelong regret. I checked and your family only has one grandfather.” Timothy's mother faced me and hesitated, “Your mother was violated and gave birth to you, she has always denied you. If someone were to find out about your background... I don't want my son to be ridiculed.”
“What does he think?”
“He can never say harsh words, wasn't it because you liked this about him that you pursued him relentlessly? Let him go.”
Oh, so my silent liking for him from high school to college for six years was considered relentless pursuit by him.
