Chapter 23

When I got back home, I called Kevin.

We chatted for a while, and I felt that he was a bit distant towards me.

Why is he angry again?

Thinking about how I had just lied to him, I still felt a bit guilty and wanted to appease him, “Can I see you?”

“Aren't you ignoring me? What do you want to see me for?”

See, he's still upset.

“You mentioned that your wound had gotten infected, how am I supposed to know if I don't see you?”

“Wouldn't it be better if I died? You can go on dates with other people without anyone bothering, now you care about me?”

He replied sarcastically.

“Fine then, since you don't want to talk to me, I'll call my classmate instead.”

“Which classmate? A guy or a girl?”

“A guy.”

“Just hang up and see what happens!”

“You're overseas, what can you do to me?” I suddenly wanted to tease him.

“Then you try... fuck.”

As soon as he finished speaking, I could hear some commotion on the other end.

“Mr. Grant, are we still not opening yet?”

“We're not.”

“What about the banquet?”

“Cancelled.”

“What are you...”

“Everyone, go home.”

...

He was in a meeting? I immediately hung up the phone in fear.

No wonder he was acting so indifferent just now, was it because many people were watching him in the meeting?

In order to calm him down, I quickly sent him a text message.

“Kevin, I was just joking, don't be mad, focus on your meeting, I'll go to sleep first.”

But he replied with, “What about you?”

His tone didn't sound right, so I quickly replied again, “Nothing, Kevin, I'm really tired, let's talk tomorrow.”

He replied, “You should get some rest, because you won't have any later.”

Seeing his message, my heart started beating heavily.
