Chapter 11

“Kevin, we're about to get married, and you're still fooling around. Aren't you afraid I'll break off the engagement?” the girl rushed in.

“Afraid,” Kevin said sarcastically, “afraid you won't break off the engagement.”

Uh oh, this is getting serious. Their wedding plans are going to be ruined.

“Um, sister, actually, there's nothing between him and me, believe me.” I quickly explained. I didn't want to provoke any hostility.

“Do you have any right to speak here?” the girl seemed like she wanted to come over and hit me.

“You, get out.” Kevin lost his patience.

“Fine.” I was about to leave, but he pulled me back.

“Not you.”

“Me?”

“Is what she said true?” The girl saw him getting angry and calmed down, pulling him.

“Oh, yeah, there's nothing.” Kevin shook off her hand, finally clarifying the situation.

But the next second, I felt a lightness in my body as Kevin confidently carried me out. “It's okay,” I said, “there's nothing.” “Kevin!” The girl behind me went crazy. “Kevin, what situation you have put me into? I feel like she wants to kill someone.”

“Don't worry,” he stared at me, “even if you die, you won't die at the hands of others, only mine.” Can I trust him? “Is there any way to not die? ” I asked, trembling. “Of course,” he lowered his head to look at me, “I won't kill ‘our own people’.” ‘Our own people’? Does that mean I became ‘our own people’ after becoming his girlfriend?

Should I try to seduce him? “Kevin,” I lowered the collar of my shirt slightly. He glanced at me and asked with a smile, “Hmm, what do you want to say?” “What do you think of me?” I was embarrassed and pulled my shirt back up. He was silent for a few seconds, then smirked. “Too flat.” “Me?!” I was furious. If I try to seduce him again, I'll be acting dumb.

“Go back to school and be a good student, don't think about unnecessary things, ” he dropped me into the car. “This place is not suitable for you.” He patted my head, and just as he was about to leave, a lot of people in black clothes suddenly appeared.

“Master, there are people waiting ahead,” one of his subordinates said. “It never ends,” Kevin was a little impatient. “They can't see her,” Kevin turned his head and I had already bolted a hundred meters. If I don't run now, will I get shot later? “Stop. ” “Goodbye!” Only an idiot would stop.

As a result, Kevin's long legs didn't disappoint, and he quickly caught me. “Kevin, let me go,” I pleaded with him. “What's the benefit of letting you go?” he didn't want to waste time talking to me and carried me back.

“The benefit is... next year, I'll burn more paper for you, so you can be reborn as the son of a rich man, okay?” He laughed again because of my words, “Do you curse me every day?” “Kevin...” I was about to cry.

“Without me, you would only die faster,” he looked at me coldly, “Listen to me, if you run again, I won't take care of you.” Gunshots sounded suddenly from behind us. So, I was led by Kevin, escaping all the way.

Kevin always protected me, but I was barefoot and couldn't run fast at all. In the rain of bullets, I didn't know how long we ran until we finally arrived at a hidden tunnel. “Are you bleeding?” He finally stopped and noticed my calf. I hadn’t felt the pain until he mentioned it. In fact, I was hit just now, but I didn't dare to say.

“Does it hurt?” He squatted down to examine my wound, a little angry. “Why didn't you say anything earlier?” It doesn't hurt, really.” “I'm asking why you didn't say anything just now?” His strong oppressive presence made me cry uncontrollably. “I was afraid... if we stopped, we would be caught.”

“I don’t want to die.” I sniffed, “My grandfather is still waiting for me at home.”

“It's not that easy to get caught,” he stood up impatiently, looking around. He pulled me into a hole in the wall and covered it with something.

“Stay quiet inside, don't make a sound no matter what you hear.”

“Mhm.” I nodded.

“Don't be afraid, I won't die for sure, I'll come back to get you, why don't you take a rest for now?”

“Mhm...”

At this point, I had no choice but to trust him unconditionally.

After a few minutes, I could only hear the chaotic footsteps outside, occasional gunshots, and cries of agony.

I was terrified and wanted to see what was happening outside, but I couldn't see anything.

“That brat killed so many people, what about the woman he was with? Where is she hiding?”

“Find that woman, I don't believe he will let the woman go missing, hurry up!”

My heart skipped a beat, and I suddenly felt all the hair on my body stand up.

I clenched my fists tightly, suppressing any sound from escaping.

Just then, someone's cellphone rang.

It was mine...

I held my breath and frantically pressed the phone off in the darkness.

But the call came again.

It was my mom...

A minute later, I was dragged out by someone, and my head slammed hard against the wall. Before I could recover, I was kicked several times.

And at this moment, my mom was still yelling on the phone.

“Christina, how dare you hang up on me?”

“You went out with some wild man, and now your grandfather's been calling me.”

“You've never been good since you were young, spending the night with a man, you might as well die outside, you won't have a good future.”

When I was in extreme pain, I heard her voice, and it only made me feel desolate.

She dreamed of me dying.

I whispered to the air, “Wish your dream comes true, Mrs. Hayes.”

Now I really am going to die.

I was being dragged by my hair through the dark tunnel.

Strange, the pain on my body wasn't as excruciating as the pain in my heart anymore.

Just when I thought I was about to die, Kevin arrived.

He fought with them.

Ten minutes later, he ran over and shouted, “I told you not to come out, why didn't you listen?”

I looked at him without saying a word.

“What's wrong? Where does it hurt?” He anxiously checked my body.

“It doesn't hurt.” As soon as I spoke, tears suddenly streamed down my face, “I'm sorry.”

I didn't listen to you.

“Why are you crying?” He panicked.

I didn't know either. Even though those people were pulling my hair and hitting my head, kicking my stomach, I didn't cry.

Maybe it's because I've always been a child with no one to love, so I've always been able to endure, but when someone suddenly asked me if it hurt, I couldn't hold back anymore.

But just as he bent down to hug me, the person lying on the ground suddenly rushed at us with a knife.

Kevin, trying to protect me, couldn't react in time and got stabbed in the back.

He quickly regained his composure and dealt with that person.

But then, he also collapsed.
