Chapter 54: Fifty four

ERICA'S POV

The next day came crisp and clear. I woke up gently and yawned, before I rubbed the bed and realized I was on Kyle's bed.

Well, I wasn't surprised.

My eyes scanned the whole room, but I didn't get a sight of Kyle. But then, I found out something. I got up from the bed and walked to where the picture of Bella and Kyle I saw yesterday was.

Surprisingly, there was no picture at all. But how come?

I stroked my chin and looked around again. What happened to the picture? I couldn't help but inquire from myself inwardly.

"Did Kyle realize the picture was the main reason why I cried, or that it was uncomfortable to me?" I knitted my brows into a frown, as I muttered an inaudible question to myself.

"Is that why he took away the picture?" I asked myself again, but immediately shook my head.

No, that's impossible. Kyle would never do that. He doesn't even care about me. I refused to accept this possibility as it didn't make a sense to me, and I was really sure I misinterpreted it.

Adjusting myself, I took a deep breath and pushed the picture issue to one corner in my head. There are better things to think about. And without any hesitation, I opened the door and quickly went back to my room. On getting there I moved straight to freshen myself before I went ahead to prepare myself.

I remembered I was having dinner with my friends this night and I was happy with this and thought of it as a perfect way to cool off my sad feeling. As I put on my dress and dolled myself up in a very elegant manner, I wore a smile throughout.

After I was finally done, I looked up at myself in the mirror and couldn't help but admire myself. The woman in the mirror appeared totally different from the woman I knew. I look more sophisticated and elegant. A very rare look.

My smile widened, and I turned around, checking myself properly. I was wearing a sleeveless kneel length gown, which was yellow in color. And it was paired it with a thigh high black boot, which was perfect for my straight legs. My hair was packed in a ponytail, giving out the full view of my pretty face.

I decided to be in a good mood today, and that was why I picked a yellow dress. I beamed, knowing yellow was the perfect color to give out my good mood and vibe. I knew yellow was an energetic color, associated with warmth, happiness, hope and cheerfulness.

After making sure everything was perfect, I walked out of my room, but didn't expect what I saw. This was the last thing I was anticipating!. I was astonished to see Kyle was having a coffee in the dinning room, when I thought he had already left the house a long time.

Kyle who was gradually sipping his coffee, seemed to notice someone was close to him, so he raised up his head. He raised his brows, and his eyes bored into my outfit. He had to admit inwardly, that the dress I was wearing really made me appear stunningly beautiful.

He was suddenly interested in my outfits, and he began wondering where I was going. But his eyes were still glued to me.

"Where are you going?" He inquired curiously, with his eyes staring closely at me.

I immediately grew alarmed and feared that Kyle might ground me if I tell him where I was going. So, I decided to lie.

"I'm going to visit my grandfather. " I bit my lower lips.

I wasn't used to lying. But I was deeply hoping for Kyle to believe me. Kyle narrowed his eyes at me and curled his lips upward. He couldn't believe I wasn't being sincere with him.

"Why are you lying?"

Hearing this, my face fell and I clicked my tongue. I knew there was no escaping now. So, I sighed helplessly and let the cat out of the bag.

"I have a date with my friends."

Kyle nodded and stood up. He was interested in my date, so he walked closer to me.

"Can l join you guys?" He asked politely with his bass voice.

"No!" I refused him immediately with a firm voice.

"You can't join us."

"Why?", Kyle crossed his arms over his chest and raised his brows.

"Because of nothing. You can't join us, and that's it." I shook my head and turned away from him, wanting to walk away.

"I'm going with you Erica!" Kyle insisted on going with me and wanted to trail after me.

"I said no! I have to go now." I refused again, getting slightly annoyed as I excused myself.

"I'll be coming with you to the date. At least, I've to make sure that you are fine and all is going

well. You should understand what I'm talking about," Kyle said with worry in his eyes but that didn't move me one bit. I didn't need him to be worried about me when I wasn't some ten year

old elementary school child.

I rolled my eyes with indifference and then cleared my throat to speak.

"Kyle, l insist for the up tenth time that you cannot accompany me to this date to my friends. You just can't. It's absurd and thinking about it alone irks me so much that I feel like throwing up,"

I began and then paused a while to catch my breath.

My eyes darted from left to right to be sure I didn't have the attention of everyone. And when I was sure I didn't, I continued.

"How do I explain what you're going there to my friends or who do I tell them you are? It's just so

strange and I need you to understand me. The more you Insist, the more difficult you're making it to be. Let's not do this. We don't need to argue all the time, do we?" I asked in a low whispering voice like one that was on the verge of tears.

There was a moment of silence and the only sound that could be heard at that very moment was the ticking of the clock on the wall. I fixed my gaze on him as I fiddled with my hands, awaiting a response from him, hopefully a positive one. He took a deep sigh and raised his head to me.

"Fine then, I'll let you go on your own but please stay safe. I do not want any harm befalling you

and do not hesitate to phone me if anything goes wrong," he went on to say all at once like one who had some hot yam in his mouth.

I flew up in excitement, glad that I was finally able to convince him into letting me go on my way. I was still about thanking him for his kind gesture when he rose to his feet and sauntered off. He looked a bit angry as he went off and I couldn't help but wonder what it was that was making him upset. Or perhaps, I was the one hallucinating.

Anyways, I rolled my eyes with Indifference and rose my feet.
