Chapter 63 Secret gathering
Chapter 63: Secret Gathering
Unknown pov
Inside an underground chamber built like a war bunker, a large table was placed at the center, covered in red clothes that looked like something that was soaked in blood. But that was not the only mysterious thing about the whole room. Surrounding the table were hooded figures that stood in silence around the table, their focus on their leader that had a lean body stature, covered from head to toe with only their eyeballs that gleamed in the dark like torch lights in the night.
The air around them was filled with invisible tension, enough to be cut with a knife, as the group looked up to their leader, who continued to drum on the table with a thump…thump sound.
A large tattered map was sprawled on the table, filled with symbols and sigils that represented different routes, packs, and important landmarks located in the neighborhood. At the center of the map was a clear and glaring sigil of a half crescent moon, stabbed by the side with two silver daggers.
“It is time,” the leader's voice boomed through the silence. “The Gathering of the Unrighteous Alphas draws near. We have gathered today to discuss our way forward. We will need to hear from reliable sources to know what next.”
Murmurs rose within the gathering, but it quickly died out. When their leader looked up, from the map
"Magnus," the leader suddenly called.out one of the hooded figures, "you have encountered him, tell us if the rumors are true?"
A figure called Magnus stepped forward before bowing slowly. “I have seen it with my two eyes. The rumors are true, He is a True Alpha, it is not just a meaningless title… he is a full fletched true alpha”
Silence descended among the circle, each member descending in their individual thoughts.
“If what we are hearing is true, does that mean he is capable of…controlling other Alphas.” One of the hooded figures questioned.
“Yes” the initial voice answered, his voice barely a whisper.
“If he’s as powerful as you say, then why has chosen to go awol from everybody else? Choosing to hide in his pack like a scared kitten in need of its mother.” Another voiced out his aggressions.
“I strongly doubt what Alpha magus just said, my queen, let's not put all our hope on what he said, out of fear.”
“Are you saying that I am his puppet?” the one called magnus yelled, his hands clenched into fists.
“It is likely, let's not forget you went on the purpose of him lending you his arm unit to fight up the rogues…,”
“You dare mock my pack predicament…” Magnus' anger exploded, but the leader immediately came to his rescue.
“It doesn't change our plans. We will still strike now it's hot. So that the mafia king would not realise it until it's too late.” The leader's voice filled with ruthlessness and cold finished her attention going back to the map. This stopped the fight between them for now.
“They will be too busy looking at each other,” a woman’s voice purred from the shadows, “to see the hand sliding the blade into their backs.”
Another figure leaned forward, his hood slipping a little to reveal a smile that was sharp and cruel. “And what of the boy?”
A murmur rippled through the group, but it died instantly when the heavy doors to their chamber swung open.
A person equally hooded from view stepped inside like a shadow.
The leader at the head of the table sat straighter.
“You are late. And you kept us waiting.”
The newcomer lowered the hood, revealing young, sharp, unreadable eyes that didn’t flinch despite the leader's glare.
“Traffic,” they said dryly. “And a few… delays, you know…”
“The mission” The leader started, and all attention in the chamber focused on the newcomer
“It Failed”
Everybody exchanged looks. It seemed like the revelation hit them harder than anything else they had heard.
“The Alpha has… a tight leash on the boy. I don’t know why, but for some reason, he is suddenly behaving too invested and clingy towards the boy. He’s keeping him close…too close for me to move without drawing suspicion.” The newcomer explained.
The table stirred with whispers and different opinions based on what the newcomer said.
Another voice that was beside the leader, asked “And the boy? Is he the one from the prophecy?”
The newcomer paused before he continued,
“The boy is… more than anything dangerous I have ever seen. They think of him as nothing but an omega that is barely worth their notice. That will be their greatest mistake.”
Someone scoffed. “An omega cannot…”
The leader’s hand slammed onto the table, silencing them. “This one can do a lot of things. And if what I have heard is true… he may be more of a threat than any of the Alphas we intend to use.”
“Then perhaps… he should be eliminated before the Gathering begins.” A deep voice from the farthest shadow spoke for the first time.
“No,” the leader said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “We will let him grow. We are yet to be sure of the full prophecy. Let him think he is free for now. It will make his fall… so much sweeter.”
“There will be a slight change of plans. You will get more men and operatives. Finish the mission. This time, no more mistakes.” The air in the chamber became even colder, as if all the elements were responding to the will of the leader.
The newcomer nodded, taking a small satchel from the table. Before slipping back into the shadows.
One by one, the elders left. When the last of them had gone, the leader remained at the stable with only one hooded figure remaining in the chamber. The tension in the room was no longer intended like before.
“So, what now?” The hooded figure removed his cloak to reveal a face reddled with scars of past wars. “The boy survived our first plan.”
The leader turned, pulling down the hood. She was not an old looking evil man. Everyone thought she was. Noo, she was a very beautiful but fierce looking girl. She had a very young face, but her eyes burned with authority and power. She was the one everyone called the messiah of the world. Their savior, as was said in the prophecy
She traced a claw-like nail over Milo’s name on the map, her lips curved into a cruel smile that was not fit for someone her age.
“He is a nut crack right from childhood. Surviving our first plan was a mistake. I don’t make mistakes twice.”
She smiled faintly at the parchment she was holding.
“The world doesn’t need two True Alphas. The first plan failed. But the next... the next will gut him before he even realizes I have drawn the blade."
“And what better plan than to use his dear beloved pet to do all the work for us.” The scared figure chipped in, laughing like a maniac.
Her voice lowered to something almost tender. "And when Milo falls, so will the Alpha."
“But my queen, he is your…”
"Nonsense," the leader snapped, cutting him off rudely, her face twisted into an ugly expression. "If push comes to shove… I will not care about any past relationship between us…”
“I will kill him!”
