Chapter 41 The arena remembers

Chapter 41 The arena remembers
The Arena Remembers

Milo’s POV

“Milo, don't go out there. It's dangerous,”my wolf lior continued to bark in my head, but I didn't listen.

James had said I should stay here, but I won't stay here when I didn’t know what was happening outside.

"Stay here, Milo," he said…” I blocked my ears, moving quietly through the long corridors.

Why must the buildings in this pack be filled with long winding corridors?

I kept on wondering as I tried to find my way, following the trajectory of the noises I was heating ahead. I didn’t even know where I was going. Hell, I might even get lost in this building. but it was better than being choked up in the room, while we were under attack.

“Stop!” Lior barked,

I stopped suddenly, my ears twitching as I heard the sound of boots and voices drifting closer to me.

Without thinking twice, I hid myself behind an opposite wall, pressing myself into the shadows.

“…can’t believe we are still on damn patrol duty,” one of the boys said, his tone filled with resentment. After years of practicing for this day to come, we are told not to leave the training grounds.”

“It's a direct order mordecai, ” another replied to the first person who had grumbled, “if you had problems, you could have voiced it out to the Beta.”

“That's bulshit. What are they even afraid of?” The former voice who was mordecai said again.

Another scoffed. “Because he’s still alive. That’s why. Everybody is living in tension and fear. They are too scared to let us fight in case we come across the abomination. and The worst is that the Alpha refuses to say anything about it.”

My heart skipped a beat, hearing those words.

I have heard people whisper it like hushed secrets among themselves. When I asked James, he dodged the question. That only points out that there is something fishy going on.

“It’s an insult,” a third voice muttered. “We should have killed it that day.”

A pause.

Then someone spat on the floor.

“Next time I see it…”

“Quit whining like small children. If you can't even take on a simple patrol duty, what makes you think that you are ready to face the caliber of enemies that are attacking us.” A bored, and calm voice berated all of them. The authority and power in the voice were unmistakable. It was dangerous and sharp, like a poisonous snake.

I began to tremble… They were now taking their jobs seriously after the quiet voice spoke. Getting closer to my hiding spot.

I backed away, stepping into the shadows. My shaky hands clutched over my chest.

At the moment. A rat ran out from the opposite direction. Coming directly to where I was hiding.

And that was all it took for my cover to get blown away.

I gasped, a little too loud that caught their attention,

“Hey! Who’s there?”

Boots shuffled closer. They were now coming towards my direction.

“Hey Cornel, somebody is eavesdropping on us.” the one closer shouted at his mates, of voice laced with amusement.

“Common kiddy cat, we won't hurt you”

They stepped into view, four boys grinning like they had caught a stray dog. but that was not what caught my attention. It was the one with the dangerous aura in the middle.

It was the dangerous group of boys I had met, and he was looking at me with a dangerous knowing look.

I gasped, I didn’t wait to see their surprised expression on their faces or the wicked knowing smile that spread through their leader's face…

I ran.

The corridors blurred as I bolted through the darkness. Going deeper into the underground training facility.

I could hear the noisy group behind me, as they kept taunting and joking around like I was already a dead meat.

My lungs burned. My tired heart continued to force blood into my system.

“Common kitty cat, come to daddy…”

If my mind was not occupied with the danger I was under, I could have noticed the sudden change in temperature as I continued to run faster than my legs would carry me.

The Walls outline changed, I could feel the ground caving upwards.

Then I saw it.

A large door at the end of the corridor.

“Noo you morron, it's forbidden” the one called mordecai shouted in fear, but i was not hearing whatever they were saying. If it was the only way to escape from them, then fine…

Their noises and shouts of anger faded in the distance as the door shouted behind me.

I had stepped into a long tunnel. Not wasting time, I quickly followed the tunnel that continued to ink upwards, and the light continued to be brighter until I saw the light at the end of it.

I was finally outside.

Laughter escaped my lips. I couldn’t believe that I had escaped the mysterious group. Who for God knows what they didn’t pursue me further.

I walked quickly towards the light, but my face fell when I walked through it, coming out of a large arena like hall.

Or what was left of it.

The place felt like a meteorite had crashed from space.

Claw marks could be seen on the walls. Chains dangled from cracked pillars. The stands where the people sat were filled with broken chairs and destruction.

The Arena was where I was whipped. I could remember my body spasming in pain as the sound of the whip tearing through skin.

“What is this?” I asked my wolf.
