Chapter 68 Traitors
DONALD
“Do you know how impossible that is? Killing Alpha Elijah? He’s basically untouchable!”
“I thought you wanted to prove yourself.” One bastard sneered and everyone else laughed.
I ignored them. When I finally got my powers, they were going to be on their knees begging for me.
“But grandmaster, you know how he is. He is heavily protected and I can barely even enter his pack. How am I supposed to kill him?”
“I don’t know, Donald. You were the one who wanted the special wolf’s powers so why can’t you work for it? You should know that nothing good comes easy. Everyone who has those powers paid a heavy price for it so why shouldn’t you?”
I looked at each of them.
“A heavy price? What price?”
He continued.
“I gave up my family before I became grandmaster. I was the one who set fire to the house while they all slept and I still hear their screams till this day. Luke there had to give up his three day old child. Malcolm will never have kids, Ezra cannot show his face in front of women. Everybody has to pay a price for greatness and you think it’s your right?! You’re lucky I didn’t ask for your daughter.”
My eyes immediately widened.
“At least that would be better than having to kill Elijah. He’s a wild bastard. He’ll kill me in a minute.”
“At least that daughter of yours has the guts to get into his pack. It seems she has more balls than you.”
“What are you talking about? She did what?”
“She infiltrated his pack and wounded his son. It seems you are even more clueless than I thought.”
Everybody laughed. They could keep laughing at me. In just a little time, I’ll deal with each of them.
Lisa did what? And she didn’t say a thing to me? How did she manage to get into his pack?
“How do you know this? Did she come to you?”
“Do you think there’s anything that goes on that I don’t know?”
I was going to tell him that he still doesn’t know the identity of the special wolf but I let it slide, not wanting to mess things up more.
“Be reminded, Donald. You have one month to do as I say. Or else, you will pay for it.”
How was I going to kill Alpha Elijah? Just thinking about it made me uncomfortable and I didn’t even know what to do.
As soon as the meeting finished, I made my way home, my mind filled with questions and worry.
Had I made a mistake in challenging him? It wasn’t my fault. He wanted to rob me of what belonged to me and I would be a fool to let him do so.
But I had no idea that they would ask me to do such a thing. In fact, I had no idea that they were asked to sacrifice anything at all.
This was a sticky pickle. What was I going to do now?
Lisa had a lot of explaining to do. I should have known better when I saw her sneaking around with a guard a couple of weeks ago.
How did she get them to do what she wanted and even more, how did she get into their pack?
“Lisa! Lisa! Get down here!”
It took a couple of minutes before I heard her steps coming down the stairs.
“What is it dad?”
“Why on earth did I have to hear it from a bastard that you invaded Alpha Elijah’s pack?! How the hell did you even do it?!”
She started scratching the back of her neck.
“You did what?!” I see Landon too had no idea from his scream.
“Speak young lady! Don’t get me more angry than I already am.”
“It’s all Landon’s fault. I know you’re still in love with that bitch so I went over there to get her out of the way. I mean she’s not here and she’s still causing problems for me.”
I took a deep breath.
“You’ve not answered my question. I’ll ask you again, how did you get into his pack?”
“I had a little help.”
Help?
“From who?”
“From—”
A guard ran up to me.
“Alpha, he’s here. There’s someone here to see you.”
“Who is that?”
“Alpha Elijah.”
What? That had to be a coincidence right?
“Where is—” he walked right in like a bull, charging towards me. “Alpha Elijah, let me explain.”
He stopped right in front of me and his Beta charged towards Lisa.
She grabbed her hair and held on tight to it despite Lisa’s screams.
“What’s going on? What did she do?”
Had he already found out?
“Alpha Elijah, please don’t punish her for my sins. What did my daughter do? Take me instead.”
“Your daughter has the guts to enter my pack without my knowledge and she didn’t just lead a group of animals in. She had the guts to attack my son! She stabbed him!”
My mouth dropped. She did what?!
“I didn’t mean to. He wasn’t my target, it was a mistake, I swear.”
I gave her a look to tell her to shut up but she didn’t catch it.
“Alpha, please let’s sit down and discuss it. I mean, there’s nothing we can’t discuss.”
“Discuss?” He started walking towards me. “Discuss? She almost killed my son! What if he had died? What if I didn’t get there in time?! She left my son and Adriana there with no help at all. What did you expect to happen?”
“That bitch is lucky I didn’t kill her instead. It was my plan to kill her and not your son.”
“Shut up Lisa! Don’t you have any regrets?”
“No! Why should I? She ruined my life and took everything I had so why should I shut up?! I should have killed her when I had the chance. That’s my only regret.”
She was just making things worse.
“Take her away. Lock her up.”
Hazel dragged Lisa out while she screamed and kicked. Elijah turned to me, his eyes cold and deadly.
“You have one week to figure out how you’re going to make this right, Donald. One week before I come back and destroy everything you hold dear.”
He left without another word, leaving me standing there, my mind racing, wondering just how I was going to kill him.
