Chapter 351 The Ones That Know

Chapter 351 The Ones That Know
ADRIANA

I didn't even know what to say. I didn't know if sorry was a word appropriate to make up for what had happened to her. I mean, she had endured so much. Losing a mother, a father, and her sister. Talk about my life story.

"Anita, you've gone through so much, and I have to say that you're a very strong woman. It's not easy to talk about all these things. I assure you that it's going to get better."

I looked down at my feet like I could see his body still on the floor. I hated bastards like that.

"Anita, we wanted to ask you if you knew about Alisha's pregnancy, but since you say that you were separated, we don't know if you'll know anything about it."

The tears had stopped, but the pain remained.

"I know about the baby. I found her again after a few years, and we reconnected. It felt so good seeing her, and I couldn't tell if things were better or worse, but on the outside, they seemed to be. My sister seemed to have healed from everything while I was the only one who was holding on to everything. I was so happy to see her, and then she told me that she was getting married and she was pregnant. I was so happy for her. She also told me about going to the Olympics. You need to see how glad I was that she made something of herself. It was like her life had changed for the better. I was still stuck in this house, in this place."

I knew what that felt like. When Stacy got all the good things and I was stuck scrubbing the floors. It felt like the whole world was against me. And my father wasn't making things better.

"What happened to the baby? I mean, I don't see her carrying him around."

"She left. She left the kid and the man. I don't know what happened. It was like once that baby was out of her, something changed in her. I remember being in the room, and she refused to carry the baby. Her fiancé didn't know what was going on, but I assured him that it was fine. And then one day, he called me and said that she was missing. I didn't understand what he meant, so I rushed over, and she wasn't in the room. The baby was just there. I called and called, but she didn't reach out. Everyone looked for her. The police were very involved because she was one of theirs. But we couldn't find her."

Why did that sound familiar? She packed up and left? Just like that?

"Until she reached out to me ten years later. She just appeared on my front door with a new face. She had plastic surgery done. She had changed her face entirely. She said that she thought our stepfather's ghost was coming after her, and that's why she left. She begged me not to tell her fiancé. She said that they were better off without her. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. That man had gone through so much because of her. I begged her to stay, to go back to him, that he'd take her back, but she refused and said that there was no hope anymore. She left before I could call him. I haven't seen her since."

This was a lot. Alisha's baby was still alive and with the father? I had a lot of questions.

"Anita, the thing with ginger tea… who started that? Was it Alisha?"

She nodded. "I don't know what made her like it so much, but she couldn't seem to let go. It wasn't harmful, so I didn't see it as an issue."

So the pot of ginger tea found in Lucy's cabin had definitely been made by Alisha. She had been there.

"The baby, what happened to him or her? Where is the baby now?"

"He lives with his father. He grew up to be a very handsome young man. You wouldn't believe it. He's finishing high school soon."

Okay, so at least she knew what happened to the baby. All of this was such a shock.

"It broke Alisha. When she first told me that the pig's ghost was after her, I knew it was bad. I mean, I knew she needed help, therapy or something, but she refused to get it. She said that she was fine and she didn't want to spend money on therapy. She refused to get therapy. She stopped speaking to people, she was always at home, she dropped out of the Olympics lineup, and she just holed up in that house. It was like she was losing it, but she held on for the baby."

"Are you saying that she was schizophrenic?"

She nodded. "She was bordering on it. My sister is a sick person, and I really hope I can find her again so I can reunite her with my family. Her husband and her kid miss her. He's spent all this time looking for her. I need to ask why you're asking about Alisha so much."

I looked at Hazel, and I knew it was time to tell her. She seemed like she was very close to Alisha, and I couldn't stand the thought of telling her what exactly had happened.

I opened my mouth, but Hazel beat me to it.

"We want to do an interview about her, and we were hoping to get information from someone who really knew her."

Lying to her wouldn't solve anything. What happens when she finds out eventually? Hearing all this just made me wonder if Alisha was truly dead. I mean, being schizophrenic can lead her to do something like that. I'm guessing knives in necks were her thing because Lucy had been found just like that.

"Anita, you said the police were very involved in her search. Why?"

"Her fiancé is a police officer. Actually, now he's the commissioner. Tobias Harrison. You might know him."
