Chapter 342 Bob

Chapter 342 Bob
ADRIANA

After I checked on Leo and seeing if he was doing okay, the maids brought Lana to me.

“I see the little Princess is finally awake.”

Hazel curtsied in front of her.

“My Princess, tell me to rise. My knees are weak.”

Lana, who didn't know what was going on, just laughed and clapped.

“Lana, my knees. I'm falling! I'm falling!”

When she hit the ground, Lana looked over her high chair and Hazel lay motionless on the floor. She wasn't smiling anymore and she looked at me, like she wanted me to do something.

“Bob! Bob!”

Hazel looked up at her.

“Lana, for the last time, my name is Hazel. Not Bob!”

As she stood up, Lana stretched her arms out for Hazel to carry her.

“Bob!”

“Ooh, you're so lucky you're cute. You can call me anything you want to.”

Breakfast finally arrived and I could see that Lana wanted nothing to do with it. She just wanted to be left alone to play with her toys so I put her in her toy pit.

“She’s growing up so fast. I remember the day you pushed her out.”

“Trust me when I see her I remember it more than you. I think what happened with Elijah being out, just made things move faster. It was like I was in a haze those months.”

She was growing up now and she was going to be the most beautiful girl in the kingdom.

“Have you called Tobias to let him know that I want to see him?”

”Yes, I have. He says he'll be here at noon. Is that okay?”

Yes, it was. At least, I wasn't going to start my day with work. It just meant I had a few more hours to spare.

“Now that I think about it, what did you do differently today?”

I looked at her with food in my mouth.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, the shorts, the tank, your make up. Are you trying to seduce the king?”

I had to look around and make sure that Lana was still busy playing with her toys.

“You know she's learning new words now. What happens when she says seduce in front of Elijah? What will I tell him?”

She waved it off.

“Oh, she's busy. So now, tell me what is going on.”

“Nothing is going on. I wore this because I'm not-”

“Oh, you are hot.”

I gave her a look and couldn't help but smile because of the smile on her face.

“That's not what I mean. I felt sweaty. Don't tell me you don't feel this heat too.”

That was a stupid question because she was clad from head to toe in leather, her usual wear and she didn't seem uncomfortable.

“You’re the only one. Why do you think you're sweating so much?”

I have no idea. It may be the stress giving me heat flashes. Asides that, I couldn't explain why.

I felt something grab my hair and I turned to see Lana behind me.

“How did you- Did you walk here?”

Of course, she couldn't speak properly so I didn't expect her to answer me.

But she nodded.

I picked her up and put her back with her toys.

“Lana, come.”

It took her a while to understand that I was talking to get but when she finally did, she had issues getting up on her own and when she finally found the strength in her legs, she took those steps again.

Hazel and I cheered as she made her way over to us and I almost cried.

I picked her up and spun her around when she finally came to me.

“Oh, you're so grown. You took your first steps on your own, Lana!”

Everything about her reminded me of Elijah. The way she was figuring things out by herself, at such a young age…that was Elijah.

I wish he was here to see this. He hadn't been here to hear her first words either. He was missing out on a lot of the kid's lives.

“Ooh, you're such a big girl. Let's go get some ice cream.”

As Hazel picked her up and turned around, I saw his back. He had been standing there, he had seen her. Why didn't he say anything?

I wanted to run after him and ask him why but I didn't. At least, he had gotten to see her walk.

After Hazel finished feeding her ice cream, we finally decided to do some work.

I went back to the waiting room and pulled out the board.

“Notice how everything just keeps revolving around Tim, Lucy, Alisha and Tobias.”

Well, those were the only names that we knew of right now.

“We can rule out Tim and Lucy. Lucy being the victim and Tim being innocent. We have evidence that he didn't do anything wrong. So the question now is, who did something wrong?”

I figured that she was going to answer that question for herself so I just sat back and let her talk.

“That leaves Alisha and Tobias. We know that Tobias and Lucy are just friends. Lucy was helping him find a woman. They were never romantically involved in any way. Alisha claims that Lucy came to her and said that she gave her Tobias’ picture because her husband, Tim was suspicious of their relationship. I'm starting to feel like that was a lie. What reason would Alisha have to lie against Lucy though?”

I was guessing that was for me to answer.

“Maybe she wanted to destroy her character. I mean, she was saying good things about her. I'm guessing that saying that was supposed to make us think that she had a lover. Lucy never had a lover. Do you think Alisha was the one with the lover?”

That had never crossed my mind.

“You’re saying Tobias was Alisha's lover?”

“That would explain why she had his picture. But not why neither of them ever told us that they were together.”
