Chapter 321 Talk to Me

Chapter 321 Talk to Me
ADRIANA

That's exactly what I did when I got home.

I headed for Lana's took where I saw the maid feeding her.

“My Queen.”

“Is she crying? Let me see her?”

I dropped my bags and headed straight to take her. She seemed heavier as I carried her and her face lit up as I called her name.

“Hello, my princess. Did you miss me? You seem to be going well.”

I didn't know whether I should be happy that she was doing fine or I should be sad that she probably didn't notice that I was gone.

“Maaamma!”

I just froze, not being able to say another thing.

I looked at the maid who had a big smile on her face.

“Is that her first word?”

The maid nodded.

“Yes Lana, it's me. I'm mama!”

I hugged her so tight that she squealed and grabbed my neck a bit too tightly.

I can't believe I almost missed my baby's first word. I wouldn't have been able to get that back.

I held her and went to check on the twins. Both of whom didn't seem to miss me because from down the corridor, I could hear their loud shouts and threats of war.

I was not expecting to find them on land. Both of them were in the air, flying over each other's beds.

“For once, could the both of you actually use your beds for what they're meant for?”

”Mum!”

Lana looked down at both of them as they came to hug me and she giggled and leaned down towards them.

Lorian took her first and she started biting his nose.

”Mum, where have you been? Leo said you had to travel somewhere with dad.”

What was I going to tell them?

“Yes, your father and I had to go somewhere for a meeting for a few days. It was quite far away and so, that's why we took too long.”

I forgot they were Elijah's children.

“But aren't you the King and Queen? Shouldn't they come here?”

He had a point.

“You’re right but we just wanted to step out for a bit. Is that okay?”

Elijah nodded and that's when I noticed that Lorian was struggling to breathe with Lana's attack on his face and hair.

Her saliva was all over him.

I couldn't help but laugh as I pulled her off him and she started crying.

“Mum, it's okay. I'm not complaining.”

Gosh, I had the best kids. Here I was worrying about Lana who didn't seem to care about anything else but tormenting her brother.

I was just happy that they were fine.

I called Leo to  stay with them so that they would have someone watching over them and then I went back to my room to take a shower.

I peeled off all the clothes on my body and stepped into the shower so that I could enjoy the hot water working its way through my muscles and all the dirt that had accumulated in the last few days.

I felt like I was having a deep cleanse but of my body.

As I sat there, my mind couldn't help but wander.

Now that I was out of jail, it was time to get back on the case.

I might need to call Alisha in again. Hear what she has to say about Lucy's relationship with Tobias.

It all semeed like a lie.

But what reason would Lucy have to lie that she eas in a relationship with Tobias when she wasn't?

Also, Lucy seemed older than Tobias and from what I'm hearing, she didn't seem like she had the time to go after you get men.

She was accomplished and a very busy woman.

It didn't add up.

Maybe I'll call her in when I get to hear what Tobias has to say.

Also, I need to go to Lucy's house. Get a feel of what her marriage was like and then, I need to go to the house where she was killed.

Even though the police had already gone over that, the case was still open meaning I could see the case files and go over it with fresh eyes.

Hopefully, I don't get into trouble and land in jail again. I honestly wasn't expecting Tobias to be like this.

I thought he would just be some unemployed drunk who Lucy was deceiving herself was better than her husband.

Something was telling me that Tobias wouldn't be happy enough to talk about his relationship with her.

But he had to. I had to set Tim free if he was innocent and catch the killer. Lucy needs closure like that.

I eventually stepped out of the shower when the water was beginning to run cold.

I should call Tobias and ask him to bring over the case files.

No, he was still a suspect.

Aside from the fact that he was a commissioner, he was still a suspect. I didn't want him handling the files.

I'll just get Hazel to bring them. but not now, she needed rest just as much as I did.

We'd been through so much and she was there for me.

This experience would have been so much worse without her.

Speaking of worse, Elijah was in the room when I walked in.

I stopped at the bathroom door when I saw him.

He was holding out a towel to me.

Oh so now, he wanted to be there for me.

I walked past him and went to the closet to grab my own towel.

“Adriana. Talk to me please. You can't be mad at me forever. Didn't we say we'd always talk about things when we didn't like them?”

That was before he decided to go AWOL and act like he didn't have a family somewhere.

I didn't even know what was wrong with him or where he went and when I asked, he'd told me not to worry.

Now, he wants to talk about it.
