Chapter 172 We’re Under Attack?

Chapter 172 We’re Under Attack?

Coban’s POV

The second day of the tournament started too damn early.
8 a.m.
We were all gathered together to get this second day of the tournament under way.
I leaned back in the viewing room chair, coffee in hand, watching the arena through the massive glass windows. Warriors were already gathering below in the courtyard, stretching, cracking knuckles, shifting their shoulders like today was just another day of friendly bloodshed.
Behind me the room looked more like a nursery than a war council.
Kael sat on the floor with a pile of wooden blocks, happily destroying the tower he had just built for the fifth time. Orion and Theron were crawling nearby, attempting to steal the blocks whenever Kael wasn’t paying attention.
Atlas and Cassian sat in the middle of the chaos.
Atlas was quiet as always, big dark eyes watching everything like he understood more than a child should. Cassian, on the other hand, was trying to grab Orion’s ear.
Roxie sat beside Trixie on the couch, bouncing one of her twins on her knee while the other crawled determinedly toward Kael’s blocks.
Five babies.
Five future problems.
Benjamin leaned against the window with his arms crossed while Trinity stood beside him, watching Kael like a hawk.
Caden walked past me, rubbing his jaw.
“You think Clarence is stupid enough to try something today?” he asked.
I snorted. “Clarence breathes stupid. He's going to hit one day during the tournaments. That's for sure. I just don't know when.”
Trixie didn’t even look up from fixing Orion’s shirt. "He’ll try something. Men like him always do when they’re scared. And believe me, he's scared shitless. I know darn well he's heard about the twins.” She laughs and shakes her head.
Cassian squealed happily as he looks in our direction.
Right on cue. The first explosion rocked the palace.
BOOM.
The entire viewing room shook. Every warrior in the room instantly snapped into motion.
Darien and Lucian were already moving before the echo finished rolling through the palace.
“Southern border!” Lucian barked into the comm.
Another explosion.
Then another.
Smoke began rising beyond the courtyard walls.
“What the hell. Fuck! Get the lycan unit downstairs Now." Caden ordered Kevan and Mark as he mindlinked a group of warriors himself.
BOOM.
A second blast hit somewhere deeper in the residential district inside the palace gates.
Then another. Then two more in rapid succession.
The windows rattled violently. Below us warriors in the arena spun toward the noise, chaos erupting instantly.
“Residential zone,” Darien’s voice came over the comm.
Trixie stood immediately. "Kids. That low life. How can he do that to innocent children." She seethed.
Roxie was already grabbing both her twins. Trinity scooped Kael into her arms. But before anyone could move. Atlas froze. He went completely still. The baby’s tiny hands clenched. The lights in the viewing room flickered.
Everyone stopped.
Caden slowly turned. "…uh.”
Cassian giggled.
Outside the windows, the smoke in the courtyard suddenly twisted. Like invisible hands grabbing it. The thick black clouds spiraled upward violently, ripping away from the ground in a massive cyclone of wind.
Warriors below staggered as the gusts slammed across the courtyard.
“What the hell is that?” Caden whispered.
Atlas sat perfectly still. He was perfectly silent. His eyes glowing faintly.
The wind roared harder. Then all of a sudden, everything stopped. The smoke shot straight upward into the sky like a giant column.
Gone from the courtyard. Completely cleared.
For a moment no one spoke.
Then Cassian clapped his hands happily. And every loose metal object in the room rattled violently.
Coffee cups. Chairs.
The metal frame of the glass wall. Benjamin’s watch snapped clean off his wrist and flew across the room.
“SON OF BITCH" Benjamin muttered as he sat there and watched the scene unfold in front of his eyes.
Cassian laughed, clearly he was enjoying himself. His twin, once again, helped him put on an amazing show.
Metal trembled everywhere.
Darien slowly looked back at us. "Are the babies doing that?” He asked in confusion. As he can't believe what he's actually seeing.
Trixie pinched the bridge of her nose. "Fantastic. Just another thing that's going to cause rumors and whispers."
Caden stared at the twins. "They’re just little. How the hell.”
“Yep.” I nodded. "They’re blowing up physics.” Caden says in awe as we watch what our sons are doing.
“Also yep.” I said in admiration. I couldn't form any words, just stand there and stare.
Another voice crackled over the comm.
“We caught one!” Lucian’s voice this time.
“Clarence’s man. Alive. I'm sending him to the dungeon. He's being escorted by a group of our men. He's out cold though.”
I stood slowly. Good. Very good. I cracked my neck and handed my coffee to Caden.
“Hold that." I said as I headed towards the door.
He blinked. "You’re going down there?”
I smiled coldly. “Oh yeah. I have to make sure everything is safe and gets taken care of."
Outside the palace walls smoke still rose from four destroyed houses.
Clarence had made his statement. Now it was our turn.
Behind me Cassian giggled again. And every sword hanging on the wall lifted three inches into the air.
Benjamin looked at the floating weapons. Then he looked over at Trinity.
"Uh, we’re gonna have problems.”
Trixie sighed. “No. We're not going to have any problems." She watched the courtyard where warriors were dragging Clarence’s captured man toward the dungeon.
“We’re gonna have solutions.”
