Chapter 128 They Won’t Get The Chance

Chapter 128 They Won’t Get The Chance

Coban's POV

Benjamin has drawn up a map of the cave systems like he said he would. We have been studying them for 2 1/2 weeks. We have also been planning for that long as well.
Our allied packs has knocked another one of the packs against us out with very few injuries on their parts. The River Pack was the one they took out. Over half of their army was dismantled. Leaving not enough left to even come after us.
Everyone is learning a lot from Benjamin. "That wolf has a big head now." Conan jokes as he's laughing at the way Benjamin has been. "He is very good. I have to give him that." Conan says as he lays his head on his paws. "That he is buddy, that he is."
Trixie is asleep on my lap. We just ate lunch. She was out shortly after. This pregnancy already has her all worn out all the time. She is carrying twins so that's to be expected. Caden and I take very good care of her though.
I take one hand and rub her back, slow and gentle.
We just assembled our men together and we're going over our plans once more. It's time to make a move. Word around is Melvin and Blake has got enough men together, and they are planning on making their move on the palace, on the crown.
The cave schematics burn across the screen. Every tunnel and exit mapped and with Benjamin's Sharp and deliberate hand. He added everything to his map. Warnings we should watch out for and which places to avoid. I've studied it enough to see it when I close my eyes.
"Their using the caves to stay off the grid." Caden says beside me as he stares up at the screen. "It keeps them hidden."
I keep my arms steady around Trixie, her weight, warm, and trusting against my chest.
"Their not hiding." I say as I rub her back. "Their setting a trap."
Kevan nods once. "Melvin and Blake don't move unless they think the strike will count." he says, and then he goes back to typing on his keyboard.
I lift my gaze towards Caden. "They're coming for the crown. If the talk being whispered around us is right, they have the numbers to succeed, if they do it right."
Silence follows. No one says anything to that comment. Because they know I'm right. They don't have to take out our entire army to kill Caden and I.
"They think if they take us out, the rest will fracture." I continue. "That packs will panic."
Caden's jaw tightens while he looks over at me. "They won't get the chance." He says as he shakes his head and runs his hand through his hair.
"This mission isn't about power." I say calmly as I shift Trixie slightly. "It's about survival." Kevan pauses his fingers on his keyboard. His eyes flicker between Caden and I.
"Rules of engagement." he says calmly. I don't pause. "If Melvin or Blake is found, then they are executed on sight. No capture. No delay." I say as my jaw tightens and my brows scrunch together slightly.
Caden's voice drops. "They declared war the moment they made their move. They made their choice. They will pay the price. The price is their life." he said sternly. And that they did. They have made it clear what they are after. They also made it clear that they are going for my queen. They want her dead as well. Melvin always has.
"Exactly." I say. "And wars only end one way." I say as another of my men comes into the room.
Kevan is typing fast on his laptop. "Strike teams only. Quiet entry. We need all exits to be sealed." he says as his fingers never stall once.
"And confirmation" I add "I want proof before anyone leaves the tunnels."
I glance down at Trixie as she shifts slightly. Her instinct brushing against mine, even in her sleep. My hand presses more firmly against her back, and I kissed the top of her head.
"This ends tonight." I say. "They don't get another breath to plan." Caden nods once. "I'll handle the briefing. We will have all teams in here at once. Already separated. Already knowing who they're going to be with. I'll only have time to say this once. So we'll make sure they're all together. We move tonight." Caden says as he look over at Trixie. She's stirring a little more. I think she can feel the tension. She can feel Caden and my emotions. It's making her constantly stir. She don't get to rest easy. I rub her back trying to calm her. To help her rest better.
Kevan doesn't look up. He keeps typing on his laptop. Fingers never miss a key. "Men will be ready in twenty." He says. "I already informed them, they will be on their way."
Good. We have some of the men already in here. The ones that's here now, only a couple of them will actually be part of the teams in the caves.
