Chapter 19

After a day of the guards searching the areas that had popped up, they found one that looked promising. They called Alexander, Gavin, and Damion with the news. The men met the guards at the location and looked around. Alexander and Damion almost instantly smelled Symphony’s power here, it was very faint, but it was there. The men looked at each other with small smiles, they finally found her.

They needed a plan as they couldn’t just waltz in like they owned the place; Symphony could get killed that way. Alexander told Damion to call his witch friend and have them cloaked so they wouldn’t be scented. Next, he had Gavin round up a handful of guards and look for any alternative exits that they needed to be aware of and if there were any guards stationed near them, he didn’t want anyone escaping. After everything was prepared Alexander shifted into Dax, it was time for him to have his fun, he had been waiting for this a long time. The only request that Alexander had was that Fiona be left alive, he had questions that he needed answers to.

They had everything all set to go within the hour. They were ready for whatever was in that building. The plan was simple find Symphony and Fiona and kill everyone else, after they were out set the place a blaze.

Dax was the first to go through the door. He looked around and saw no one. He followed the scent of blood through the hallways and stopped at the door that smelled the most. He burst through the door and halted in his tracks. There were two men and between them sitting in a chair was Symphony. Dax was furious when he saw the state that she was in, her hair was matted, her face bloodied and bruised, her clothes blood stained and her body covered in scars, and she had a rope around her wrists that was being held by one of the men. Dax saw red. He went after the man on the right first as he was the one holding the rope that bound Symphony’s hands, he made easy work of him, one swipe of his hand and his head was off his shoulders. He turned to the man on the left next, who was shaking so much he could barely stand. Dax lunged at him and tore his arms off his body and broke his neck. He then surveyed the room making sure no one else was in there. He called Gavin and had him take Symphony out of the house, as much as he wanted to do it himself, he had someone else to find. He went through the house room by room and on the top floor the last room he came to he found the door ajar.

He flung the door open and there was Fiona. She didn’t look at all surprised to see him there. Dax wanted to rip her limb from limb, but Alexander reminded him that they needed answers from her. Daz growled and lunged at her anyway, he was kind of surprised that she didn’t put up much of a fight considering how she had demanded things on the phone a few days ago. Dax was able to knock her out and called the guards to take her away.

As they all made it out of the house something felt off to Dax.

“That was way too easy, I was expecting more of a fight from everyone, especially Fiona.”

“I know. I was too. I just hope this wasn’t some sort of trap that we are going to regret later,” Alexander said back to him.

In the shadows, a figure smiled as he saw Alexander and his men take Fiona and the hybrid with them. This was all part of his plan. Now he could follow them and set his plan in motion. He knew who Fiona was and when he adopted her, her repayment was to make him the next king of the Lycans. He needed Alexander to sweat a little bit over his precious hybrid being kidnapped and thinking that he would never see her again. He knew what Alexander had done to the girl’s parents and he knew what Symphony was. He never told Fiona though that Symphony was a major player in this plan of his because he knew Fiona would find some way to ruin it. He never intended for Fiona to take her throne back and she wouldn’t be alive long enough to see him take it from her. Not only was Jaxson, the Alpha of the Rogues in the area, but if his plan went accordingly, he would be the king of the Lycans as well. All he had to do was wait for the right moment to strike and it all would be his. He would make Alexander pay for what he had done to his family, he would know what it was like to lose someone that meant the world to him.

When Alexander and the rest of the group made it back to the house Symphony had still not woken. He had the guards take Fiona to the dungeons as he took Symphony from Gavin and carried her up to her room. He had Damion call the doctor to come look over her wounds. As he laid her on the bed, he was able to really look at her. His heart broke when he saw what they had done to her. He saw that there was more bruising than he had first seen, the scars looked like they had been healed but then cut back open, her hair was not only matted but crusted with blood. She had cuts around her wrists where the ropes had been, Alexander figured they were laced with silver to keep them from healing. Her lips were cracked and bloodied. She looked pale and thin.

When the doctor arrived, he wanted to shoo Alexander out so Symphony would have some privacy, but Alexander wasn’t going anywhere. He wasn’t letting Symphony out of his sight again, Dax seemed to agree. As the doctor looked her over, he had a look of concern on his face.

“From what I can see, it looks like her wolf had tried to heal her but was unable to heal her fully,” the doctor said. “Although at this point it seems like her wolf may have abandoned her.”

As he said that Dax let out a low growl. Her wolf couldn’t have left her like this, something must have happened for Starlett to be in hibernation mode.

The doctor shook his head and continued his treatment of her.

Suddenly she sat up screaming trying to push the doctor away from her. Alexander grabbed her and held her tight.

“It's ok, you are safe now, Symphony,” he said trying to calm her down.

The doctor offered a sedative, but Alexander shook his head; that could wait until later.

As Alexander kept talking to Symphony she slowly calmed down. She stopped shaking and looked up at him like he wasn’t really there.

“How?” she started to ask.

“Don’t worry about it you are safe, you are home. Let the doctor finish checking you over and then we will see if you are up for talking,” Alexander told her.

She slightly nodded and let the doctor continue to look her over, never leaving Alexander's arms. She knew some part of her was still hurt over everything that he had done in the past, but she felt safe in his arms.

After the doctor looked her over and assessed the damage, he asked Symphony if it was ok if he gave her something to help her sleep and speed up her healing, she looked at Alexander who nodded, she agreed and shortly after, she was drifting off to sleep.

Gavin had knocked on her door as she fell asleep. He didn’t want to disturb her but he needed Alexander. Fiona was in the dungeons ready to be questioned and he knew Alexander would be the one to do that. He cleared his throat and Alexander looked up.

“Do not leave her side for a moment,” Alexander told Gavin as he got up “If anything happens to her again it will be your head on a platter.”

Gavin nodded and took Alexander's seat by Symphony’s bed. He hadn’t really got a chance to look at her since they rescued her, and she looked rough. He couldn’t believe that someone could be this deranged as to hurt such a kind person. He wanted to personally inflict the damage that was done to her on Fiona but knew that Alexander had that covered.

Down in the dungeon, Fiona was handcuffed to the cell walls with silver cuffs. Alexander walked into her screaming to be let out. He just smiled. He wondered how many times Symphony had screamed to be let free and she was ignored. Dax growled at the thought.

When Fiona saw him, she just laughed in his face. She showed no remorse for what she had done and now was going to pay the price.

“How is your precious little hybrid? Hope I didn’t torture her too badly,” Fiona said while laughing.

“She will heal and come back stronger than ever,” Alexander told her stone-faced.

“You on the other hand will be begging for death when I get done with you. I have questions that only you seem to have the answers to, and I will get them out of you one way or another.” Alexander said, letting Dax come through in his voice.

“I have nothing to say to you, besides give me back what is rightfully mine.” Fiona spat.

“We shall see how much you don’t have to say to me when I am done. I will show you no mercy, the same that you did to Symphony will be done to you 10 times worse.”

As Alexander questioned Fiona, he started getting angrier and angrier as she wasn’t giving him the answers that he wanted. He got worse with the torture and still, she wouldn’t talk. He wanted to continue but he wanted to check on Symphony. He had the guards cuff Fiona back up this time not just with the handcuffs, but he also wanted her tied with silver laced rope, he wanted to make sure she didn’t have a moment of comfort. He had the guards place her hand so high up that she couldn’t stand. He told the guards that every 5 minutes he wanted her to be drenched in vervain-infused water. He turned and walked out of the dungeon, while Fiona screamed in pain. Thankfully the dungeon was soundproof.

Alexander made his way back up to Symphony’s room passing Damion in the hallway.

“How is she?” Damion asked.

“She’s healing but slowly, the doc thinks that her wolf is hibernating from trying to heal her so much. She needs rest and hopefully, she will be back to her normal self in no time.”

“That’s good to hear. How is our prisoner?"

“Still not talking. I will break her and find out what she knows.”

“I will let you get back to Symphony and I will touch base with you later.”

Alexander nodded to Damion and continued to Symphony’s room. Gavin was still watching over her and she was still soundly sleeping. Gavin looked up when he heard someone enter her room, when he noticed it was Alexander, he relaxed a little bit.

“Has she woken at all?” Alexander asked.

“No, she stirred a little bit and was talking in her sleep but nothing that made any sense” Gavin replied.

“She was traumatized, it will take time for her to come back to us. For the time being, we just must be patient with her,” Alexander told him.

“I want you to guard our friend down in the dungeon, I don’t want any more tricks.”

“Understood, I will head there now,” Gavin said as he stood.

When Gavin left, Alexander sat by Symphony on the bed, he ran his hand over her forehead and told her that nothing would happen to her again, not if he could help it anyway.

Little did anyone know Jaxson had made a camp just outside the kingdom border. He was planning his next moves, but he wasn’t sure how soon he wanted to attack. Part of him wanted to strike now while they were down a wolf, but he knew that the hybrid needed to be strong in order for him to use her powers. He decided he would let them get comfortable and then make his move.
