He scanned the faces of the people who were timidly looking upstairs at him and their Luna. He could see a way of hope and bravery on their face since they have found someone to rely on now- Licia. Even though she had just become their Luna yesterday, however little it was, she had still managed to make them trust her or maybe even him.
He was curious… How can a pitiful bastard maid who was willing to trade her body for life would be able to do something like this!
That day when she was talking to those corrupt priests…
When she got off the horse without needing his assistance…
Then this morning when she was able to slide around him without him noticing it…
And even now…
She had been here only for mere three days but she had managed to do something that he, as the leader of this pack, couldn't do. With every unfolding day, he was discovering a new side to her. She was full of mysteries and he wanted to solve every single one of them.
Licia, I want to know who you really are and I won't settle till I find it out!
A mysterious grin appeared on his face without an explanation as he grabbed her frail arms. "Alpha…" The girl questioned him in a shrill voice, clearly failing to understand what was going on in his head as his thoughts were concealed behind his cold smile. He looked at the people staring at them and said in a raised voice, "What do you think you all are doing just standing there and watching our faces?"
"Don't just stand there, you were summoned to the castle to work. Do what the Luna has asked you to do without a mistake or delay." His already dangerous tone dropped by a few degrees of ruthlessness when he added, "If I find anyone lazing around, I will shut the gates on them and lock them up in this castle forever."
The men felt chis run down their spines when they heard his words and many of them visibly trembled before taking their eyes off the couple. They were very well aware of the captives who are captured in the castle; they become their slaves and no matter what your rank is, you will be lowered down to the rank of an Omega. Being an Omega and getting the worst possible treatment was every wolf's nightmare.
Not to mention the new Alpha already had a terrible reputation about being cold and ruthless.
"Yes! Yes! Alpha, we are on it." Various voices came from the crowd before they started to busily lift the loads and take them outside.
Licia saw this and pulled her lips into a thin line; she could see that these people were afraid to the core. She had everything carefully planned, calling them here was to make them comfortable with their new leaders but Enrique had managed to screw this as well by acting beastly in their watch.
His actions had added to the trauma and fear that these poor people had within themselves. Why would he do something like this in front of them all of a sudden?
Did she do something to confirm his assumptions about her? She was sensing a sort of new found curiosity and enthusiasm within him, as if he knows what he is doing and what he is about to find out.
Her eyes flared open with fear as she was dragged away by him across the corridor impatiently. She shot up her glance to see that he was taking her to his room.
His room…
Was he going to test out his doubts in there?
This wasn't going to turn out good, she could feel it in her bones that she was the one who was going to be put on test by him inside that room. Licia wasn't ready for it yet, she still needed to adjust to her operating as Liam under her newfound skin as the Luna- a woman. There was a very good chance of her exposing herself if she wasn't completely fit in this role herself.
What was she going to do? She could not end up like this, at least not now when she had just started working for the people and started to put everything back to its place.
She prayed inside her head for all this to stop, for some miracle to happen that would save her from this.
Alpha Enrique kicked the door open and dragged her in reluctantly; he then banged the door right behind him sending shivers down the whole room. Licia's eyelashes quivered as she closed her eyes, reminding herself of her mother.
Mother… What should I do now? Please help me.As soon as the loud bang of the door echoed throughout the hall, people downstairs managed to breathe freely knowing that the Alpha was now gone. But the way he dragged the Luna away was quite scary.
People couldn't help but start to chat amongst themselves about every single possibility they could think of for his wild behavior.
"Do you think something is wrong?"
"Perhaps the Alpha is not happy with the supplies being distributed amongst us."
"I- If that's the case, what should we do now?"
"Do you think the Luna will be alright?"
Polene, who had just come out of the kitchen, to find Licia saw how she was getting dragged upstairs by the Alpha and what kind of impression he had left behind on the people. The old lady couldn't help but sigh, she was the one who had assisted the Luna since the morning and she knew how careful she was, wanting to make the townsmen trust and accept them as their leader. But alas, the Alpha seemed to have ruined it yet again.
