Chapter 41

Knox POV

'I'm going to fucking kill him'' was the first thought that jumped into my mind when I saw Brett walk up to my baby sister and kiss her. Nothing else existed at that moment. I was so angry at what I was seeing, Andras burst out of my with a menacing growl before I had time to think.

Andras was livid, that much i could feel. We were getting ready To rip this SOB to shreds when Tertia stepped in front of him, protecting him. It took a few moments before her words sunk into the red mist that was currently our brain.

''He's your mate''? I asked a couple of times and she nodded. I was floored by this, so didn't see the small gesture she made to him. So when he stepped forward the way he did, Andras saw it as a challenge, and no amount of begging from our baby sister could get him to stop. I was forced to watch this unfold while screaming at Andras for control. Or at least for him to listen to what I was saying.

After we had chased Jarreth in the forest, I managed to get Andras's attention for longer than 5 seconds. He listened to what I had to say, and finally stopped when he acknowledged Brett was our best friend. We had known him since we were cubs. Brett's father was my father's Beta, so it made good sense for Brett to be mine.

And here I am now, ready to whoop his ass, cos he found out that my little sister is his fated mate.

this had the power to stop Andras in his tracks. And after taking in a shuddering breath, he allowed me to take back control. I shifted quickly and called out to Brett to do the same.

A little ahead of me, I saw a head poke out of some bushes, and this made me smile.

''You calmed down yet?'' Brett called out to me, ''Not coming out till I know you've calmed down, man''.

I held my hands up to show him I meant no harm. I could hear the rustling of the bush and when Brett exited I held out my hand so i could shake his. He gripped my arm, just below the elbow joint as I gripped his.

''I'm sorry I overreacted, you know how protective we are about our sisters. And seeing you smush face with my baby sister was a shock and Andras just reacted''. As I said this to him, I tried to put a look of remorse on my face. I was just about to show him my neck when i saw his eyes widen and he quickly accepted my apology ''Okay, okay. You're sorry. I get it. Don't you think showing me our neck was a little overkill?''. I smiled properly for the first time since hearing that Sam was missing. Clapping my arm against Brett's shoulders we turned back to the pack house. We walked in silence for a while, and I was surprised by how far we had run from the house. We even passed over the small road that led out of the protection of the pack lands.

We had just gotten to the middle of the road when i caught a scent. I breathed in deeply. ''Sam'' it was Sam's scent. I spun around to look at Brett, and I could see my own thoughts shining back at me in Brett's eyes.

Brett POV

i dont think i had ever run that fast in my life. And I genuinely believed that if Andras had caught me before he calmed down, he would either be digger my grave or Tertia and myself would never have pups. Swallowing deeply at that thought, I assured myself that Knox/Andras was indeed calm now. Not sure how it had happened, but grateful for it none the less.

I was about to ask his permission to claim Tertia as my mate when I got the lane that led out of the packlands. Straight away, I was aware of a familiar scent lingering in the air. I couldn't place it for a few seconds, then I realised why it was so familiar to me. It was the scent of our future Luna. I looked at Knox, who stared back at me. We were on the same page, thank the goddess. I instantly became my Alpha's Beta.

Lumos POV

After what seemed like forever, I finally had the link to Knox I had been waiting for. But hearing what he had to say surprised me. I looked at Tertia, who was trying and failing to look relaxed.

''Knox said he has picked up Sam's scent on the small road leading out of here. He thinks that Sam used a car to escape from here. You got to admit that's clever''.

Tertia nodded in agreement, but still had the nervous energy about her. I decided to put her out of her misery and tell her that Brett was okay. She squealed loudly and ran toward the front of the house ready to meet Brett when he came back in. Much to her annoyance, we discovered Knox had sent him to follow the scent and report back to us. I rushed over to her so I could comfort her. She didn't even try to push me away for being too soppy. She just accepted it. Pulling her into my arms, I started talking softly to her. She was trembling, and it hit home that she didn't know if she would see Brett ever again.

At that thought, the door burst open and in walked our brother. Once again, Knox's inability to read the room left him open to an attack in the form of our baby sister's new Lycan. She was simply gorgeous. Magnificent even. She was the same colour as Tertia's hair. Her body was rippling with muscles, and even though her hind legs were currently wrapped around our brother's waist as she laid into him. Knox desperately tried to withstand the assault, so I reluctantly stepped in and broke it up. The Lycan was now standing in front of Knox and myself. We stared back at the beautiful creature in front of us and waited for an introduction. Which never came. Before Knox or worse, Andras kicked off at the rudeness of our sister. I interjected and asked what her name was. Looking at me puzzled for a few seconds, you could see the cogs turn in her head as she worked out what she had done wrong.

''OMG, I haven't introduced myself. How foolish of me. I am Onyx, Tertia's soulsharer''

I just looked at her for a few moments, then pulled the powerful creature into my arms so I could hug her. ''Hello Onyx, we are your sister and brother'' I said tearfully. When she pulled back from the hug, I could see she too had unshed tears in her eyes. Smiling up at me, she gave me one last sqeeze before going to stand in front of Knox, who stood straight backed and watchful. What happened next would stay with me till my dying day. My little sister, my new little Lycan sister, stood facing her big brother with a smile. She crooked her finger at him, and smiling, Knox lent down so he was closer to her level. He went to hold out his arms so he could bestow a hug on her. Instead, Onyx grabbed the T-shirt he was wearing in her fists and pulled Knox so they were nose to nose. I could only stare open mouthed as my delicate, sweet, innocent baby sister said with a growl, ''You ever lay one finger on my mate again, and I will bite the fucking thing off. Do I make myself clear? You so much as look at him the wrong way, and I swear I will finish you''. Onyx walked away then. leaving a very bewildered looking brother behind her. Knox looked at me for a second, before a smile split across his face and he burst out laughing. Shouting behind her retreating back ''welcome to the family Onyx, we love you''.

i burst out laughing when I heard her response. This was going to be fun.
