It has been brought to my attention that your relationship with your Mate is under a certain amount of strain at the moment. I just wanted to assure you that I am here for you in what ever form you need me to be’ Genni had said this softly and in what she hoped was a soothing tone so she was surprised to see Rosemary jump up out of her seat and stalk to the door. Turning around when she got there to say how rude Genni had been to her. Reaching for the handle on the door Genni said ‘Stop’ and Rosemary found she could not reach for the handle. Livid now Rosemary started to shout at Genni, demanding she be allowed to leave.
‘Rosemary, Mom, please calm down and let me explain. Please’ Genni could see the older woman’s shoulders sag in defeat and turned to look at her. What Genni didn’t expect to see was the heartbreak in her eyes. Getting up from her chair now she walked over to Rosemary and wrapped her arms around her. ‘Come, sit’ Genni gestured to the sofa’s in the corner of the room. Holding her hand Genni led Rosemary to the sofa and sat next to her. Still holding her hands in hers Genni asked if there was anything she wanted to tell her.
‘Please, I don’t mean to upset you. I know how long you have been together and I understand the loyalty that you two have. Jonas and Myself have only been together months instead of years but please understand I would go to hell and back for my mate. Mom, please. I know there is something wrong. Please tell me. I don’t like using my abilities on my family but I think you know that something is not right with Phil at the moment and I cannot let this go on any longer so I will compel it out of you if I have too’ Genni finished what she was saying and tried to look as contrite as she could for talking about this subject and to prove she meant no harm she bared her neck in submission to Rosemary. Who, upon seeing this looked shocked at first then she looked approvingly at Genni and finally she welled up and looked almost relieved.
Grasping Genni’s hands in hers Rosemary started to unload the burden of the last few years.
‘ I need to tell you this but I need to say it in one go. Please do not stop me to ask questions as I honestly don’t think I could get it out’? Rosemary had a pleading look on her face as she spoke to her daughter in law. Genni understood at once and assured Rosemary that she would allow her to speak.
‘When I became the Mate of the further Grand Alpha I was in a blissful bubble for years. The only blight on my life was my inability to conceive a pup. It took many years and during that time Phil realised that his family might lose the Grand Alpha entitlement and prepared to stay the Grand Alpha longer than any other. When the moon goddess blessed us with my Beautiful boy we were overjoyed, of course. Although sometimes I felt that he was still preparing to stay Grand Alpha longer than was needed. As Jonas grew we were gratified to see he was the strongest, fastest, cleverest wolf within the pack. I thought that when Jonas turned 18 and Phil handed over his birthright My mate and Myself would final be able to live out the remainder of our lives together in harmony with the new Grand Alpha and Luna and of course any grand pups that would come along. About a year before Jonas met and bonded with you I began to notice that Phil became a little secretive. He was going out more with his old Beta and Gamma.they would go running for hours and at first I was happy for him but then things started to make me think something was wrong.
Then, you came into our lives, and I was thrilled to have a daughter. As was Phil at first. But the very first time you told us who your mother was and why you were here, Phil became incensed and was convinced you would be the downfall of his beloved pack. I begged and pleaded with him to allow you the benefit of the doubt but he refused. Since you have been apart of our family, Phil has become obsessed with reclaiming the pack for himself. Which means he is effectively trying to overthrow his, our son. I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel very alone’. As Rosemary finished a lone tear fell from her eye. She looked so beaten down Genni’s heart broke for her. In her mind she could hear Sapphire whine. What Genni didn’t expect was for the door to Molly’s office to burst open and for Jonas, who was crying, to run over and envelope his mother in his strong arms. Although Rosemary looked shocked at first she was grateful for the sight and collapsed in his arms and sobbed. All the while, Jonas rocked her and spoke soothing words of comfort. Genni stood and touched Jonas’s shoulder gently and linked that she would be in Molly’s office until they were ready to explain the next part. Jonas nodded once and smiled at his beautiful Mate, a look of genuine gratitude on his face as he held his mother.
After giving mother and son some time Genni went back into her office and joined them on the sofa’s. Molly didn’t join them as she was busy sorting through the applications for the new fairness panel.
Smiling a truly genuine smile at Genni as she joined them Rosemary reached out her free hand to take hold of Genni’s. Looking at her Daughter in law solemnly Rosemary asked how long she had know something was wrong.
Linking quickly to Jonas to asked how she should answer, she heard heard Jonas link back and tell her to say everything.
Nodding at her Mate Genni explained about the new ability she had discovered and how it allowed her to “see” peoples memories. This told her that the people were not only being truthful but more importantly, accurate. Although Rosemary was mostly silent throughout Genni’s explanation you could see by the end that there was the fire of determination in Rosemary’s eyes.
‘This can’t go on, and I apologise to you both, so so much’ said Rosemary, suddenly tearful again. Holding tightly onto her son’s hand she looked between them both and pleaded with them to go easy on Phil. Jonas looked furiously at his mother when she voiced this and immediately began to say that there would be No forgiving what his father had done. Placing her hand on Jonas’s thigh, Genni said softly ‘while you were having a much needed moment alone Sapphire told me she had been conversing with Jax. And Jax now believes that his father is under some kind of mind control. And its coming for Zachary. Why else would the only payment Zachary would want was access to our packlands’? The other two both nodded at this and Jonas looked a little contrite at his previous harsh words. Rosemary shut him down straight away and told her son the going easy on her mate did not mean she would forgive him yet. For as far as she was concerned his betrayal of their son was so heinous she didn’t think she could look a him yet. Hearing this, Genni immediately offered Rosemary a room within the apartment. To which Rosemary accepted straight away and with much gratitude. Standing up suddenly, Rosemary asked to be shown which room was to be hers as she needed a lay down. She felt physically and emotionally exhausted and just wanted to rest. Jonas jumped up straight away and led his Mother to the room he had as a young cub. Hugging his mum tight again he told her that all of this would get sorted and left her to lay down. As he walked back out of the apartment and towards Genni’s office he heard Jax moan and say he needed a run to clear his head. Reluctant to leave his mate Jonas asked Genni if Sapphire would like to join them. At first Genni said she was too busy but, hearing Genni say this Molly popped her head around the open door and told her Luna to go. Smiling at Molly gratefully, Genni rose from behind the desk and walked to the door where Jonas was waiting for her.
‘Only a quick run, My love’ she told her Mate ‘ we have much to do’.
