Can you believe this? Can you believe that she never told us Jonas had started pacing back and forth back and forth and it was starting to get on Genni’s nerves. ‘Jonas please either sit down next to me or go and sit by your desk, which ever you choose please sit you are starting to give me a headache’ Genni said sharply. Raising his eyebrows slightly at the tone of voice his wife chose to use Jonas plopped himself down on his desk chair, once again bringing his hands to his head as if to hold the latter up with the weight of stress that was bearing down upon him. ‘I’m sorry my love I am just gutted that my own mother could keep a secret like that from me’ looking at her with an incredulous look upon his face Genni noted that he looked desperately disappointed and a little lost, he clearly idolised his parents and find out that they knew information and haven’t told him? Genni could see why he took this as an act of betrayal. Rising from her seat on the sofa Jenny walked toward her husband and stood behind his chair has he still in lockdown Genni started to rub his shoulders and with her fingers as was pleased to say she could feel the tension flowing out of him. After she had finished rubbing his shoulders Jonas tilted his head back so he could look at his wife who was also staring down at him Genni placed a soft kiss upon his lips and told him that he needed to eat something. Laughing at the randomness of the statement Jonas agreed with his wife so the two of them decided to make their way to the large kitchen in the hopes that there was something that they could put together as a meal. Upon entering the kitchen Genni could see Martha and her father sitting very close together on the stools that lined the breakfast bar, it was at this point that she remembered her father had something to tell her. Genni gave her father a hug and sat next to him and with questioning eyes she asked her father what it was he wanted to tell her. ‘Oh yes’ said Daniel ‘there was something very important to tell you but the latest developments have kind of overshadowed it somewhat’. He glanced at Martha as he said this and Genni might be wrong but she would swear that Martha looked down quickly to hide the tears that had sprung up in her eyes. This upset Genni ,she didn’t like it when members of her family were upset, she didn’t like arguments and petty quarrelling back-and-forth so to see Martha in this distress hurt Genni’s heart. ‘Dad tell me whatever it is you have to say, it is just as important to me as the situation we now have at hand. Please dad for me’. Daniel walked around to where Martha had gone to stand, her usual place of safety was by the large range in the centre of the kitchen, she was the housekeeper/cook after all. Daniel put his arm around Martha’s shoulder and pulled her close he started to look nervous but continued to look directly at Genie as he said ‘We are getting married’!
“What!? Said Genni and Jonas together ‘seriously? Honestly’? Asked Genni smiling, and when she saw Martha nodding shyly she rushed around the counter and embraced the older woman declaring herself ‘overjoyed’ at the news. Jonas walked around the counter as well and shook Daniel‘s hand but also warned him playfully that if he hurt Martha he would have the Alpha to answer to and even though there was playfulness behind what he said it was also apparent that he meant every word. Going over to Martha and hugging her close for a second Jonas pulled back and smiled at his housekeeper and confidant. ‘I’m so happy for you, I know you didn’t think you would find love again but I always knew the moon goddess would grant you another Fated mate, you are too special to be on your own’. Martha had to wipe the tears from her eyes now and she placed her hand on Jonas‘s cheek ‘thank you’ she said ‘I’m sure I will be very happy’ and she smiled dreamily at Daniel. Genni started to clap excitedly and asked when the wedding would take place, laughing at her excitement Martha told Genni they had booked the courthouse for two weeks away. Protesting loudly Genni and Jonas both declared that they would not be married at the courthouse but they would in fact be married in their own secret clearing with their friends and family around them. Hearing the Alpha say this filled Martha‘s heart with so much joy she burst into tears and threw her arms around Jonas‘s wide chest and sobbed in his arms. ‘I didn’t want to ask if I could marry here as I know a lot of Wolves are content to just be mates but I have always wanted a husband’ said Martha. Daniel took her hand gently and brought it to his lips and as he kissed her fingers lightly he said ‘It will be my honour to be able to call you my wife’. Genni went into Daughter mode straight away and grabbing Martha by the arm she walked arm and arm with her to the kitchen table and started firing questions at Martha as to what she wanted, what colours they were going for, the theme of the wedding, how many tiers did she want her cake to be, etc,etc, laughing Martha held up both hands and said ‘whoa now, Your Grace. As I thought I was marrying at the courthouse I haven’t thought of any of these things, I was only going to wear a simple dress and as for the colours and themes I don’t want a fuss, I just want to marry my best friend’ she finished softly. Genni, feeling a little bit embarrassed at her excitedness apologised to Martha and said that they will of course do everything within their power to make Martha‘s day perfect, wether that meant everyone turning up in jeans and T-shirts or as Wolves or everyone decked out in their best attire with the men wearing suits and the women wearing gowns. Martha laughed again and said she had a lot to think about. Genni agreed and told the housekeeper who was soon to be her stepmother, that they would meet again in three days to discuss her thoughts on what she wanted. Martha sighed happily and as Daniel walked over to them both, he lent down to place a gentle kiss on his daughters cheek ‘Thank you, Genevieve. I wanted you and Jonas to be the first people to know. I haven’t even told Lucas yet’. Genni’s eyes widened for a second and then she started laughing at the thought of her brothers reaction as she knew full well how much her brother liked to party and she also knew what Lucas thought of Martha. Martha‘s love had virtually transformed their father into a different man/Wolf. And Genni had no doubt that Lucas would be as thrilled as she was by this news. Getting up now and bowing their heads toward Genni and Jonas, Daniel took Martha by the hand and suggested a walk as it was a beautiful afternoon. Jonas grinned at Martha and told her to enjoy her “walk” and as she passed him she gave him a flip across the back of the head, which only made Jonas laugh harder and Genni joined in and after the events of the day Genni needed it. She needed the laughter and the camaraderie that had been sorely missing from the day.
