***Sara POV***
I did it, I can't believe I actually did it. I had just pushed not one, but two babies out, and I am in shock.
But I did it. Greg, Goddess bless him, looked like he'd been smacked in the face with a wet fish, he looked so stunned. The flurry of activity had died now that everyone had left. It was just Greg, me and our babies here now. I couldn't help the sigh of contentment that left my lips. Watching my soul mate talk quietly to our children was a strange and wonderful feeling.
We have decided to call our baby boy after his father. His full name is Gregory Sebastian Watson. Greg made a face when I told him the name and told me I shouldn't use his plain old name. But when I told him what he will be referred to as, he thought it wonderful. We will call our boy Bastian, but for some reason, I can't think of a good enough name for our baby girl, so she is just Baby Girl, for now.
Bastian latched on to me straight away and has fed well, but Baby Girl seems fussy as she refused to latch and take my milk. I have had to express some for her and feed it via a bottle and teat. Greg thought this was amazing, as it meant he could feed her whilst I fed our little man. I know he is only trying to make me feel better about not being able to feed her, he's so sweet. I love him more everyday.
''Sweetheart, both babies are asleep now, so I'm going to head to the apartment and have a shower, freshen up, and I'll be straight back down, okay?' Greg looked at me as he whispered this. The look on his face was so full of pride and love, it brought a lump to my throat.
''Of course, babe. I'm going to try and sleep too, I'm shattered'' I responded. Throwing his arms around me and taking a deep breath while his nose was buried in my neck, I felt and heard him sigh.
frowning slightly, I pulled away from him to see what was wrong. I lifted my hands to cup his handsome face and asked what was wrong.
''Wrong? Nothing is wrong, sweetheart. It's just, I've never had so much love in my heart. And I feel more happy and content than I have in a long time. And it's all down to you, my love. I am in awe of you. I'm so proud of you''!
Laughing lightly, I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him deeply. He started to respond with enthusiasm, before he pulled back quickly and asked if he had hurt me.
Really laughing at him now, I shoo him out of the room and told him he stank of BO. He left the room laughing and blowing me kisses.
I honestly don't remember putting my head on the pillow before a strange noise woke me with a jolt. A few micro seconds for my brain to switch from sleepy to awake, and I realised the sound was the babies fussing. I could see Greg was back, in fresh clothes. He turned his face to mine and said 'Look, Mommy is right on time to feed you hungry babies'' He was holding Bastian in his arms and asked if I wanted to try Baby Girl first. Nodding, I left the edge of the bed and walked the short gap to the little cribs the twins were sleeping in.
Picking up my precious daughter and cuddling her close was the best feeling. I was just settling on the bed when the young nurse from before came bustling in with a bottle of breast milk I had already pumped. Smiling confidently at me, she pushed another pillow behind me as she tried to settle Miss Fussy Pants on my breast. But she would not latch, she started to cry, and my heart was breaking for her. The nurse told me to try one more time, but it was more of the same. She just wouldn't put my nipple in her mouth. Greg could see I was getting upset, so he asked the nurse to hold Baby Girl, and he handed me Bastian. Who latched on straight away with no fuss or bother.
Greg took Baby Girl off the nurse and sat in the chair next to the bed and fed her the bottled breast milk. Which she was eager and hungry for. I was frowning at Greg and the baby when the young nurse told me it was perfectly normal for one baby to feed on the bottle. I nodded my head while listening to her drone on. I felt like one of those dashboard bobble heads by the time she left.
''You're doing great, Babe. Plus, you get to go home tomorrow. Maybe you will be more relaxed at home, and Baby Girl will sense that and take her milk from you, like the good girl she is, yes'
I rolled my eyes and smiled as the last part of his sentence was said using baby talk. I could see he was smitten with his children. Most of the time, I felt the same way.
And my eyes fell on Greg and Baby Girl.
***Greg POV***
We are heading into the fifth day of being parents, and I'm knackered. Truly, I have never felt so exhausted, and I'm not even doing the most work. Sara is amazing. It seems to be a relentless round of feeding, changing, bathing, and trying to get them both to sleep simultaneously.
Bastian is a little star, he wakes when he's supposed to, he feeds when he's supposed to, and sleeping is second nature (follows his Dad on that one), but we have a problem in Baby Girl. Sara still can't choose a name. Everyone I have suggested has not been right, or doesn't look like her.
I haven't said anything, as I don't want to upset my mate, but she is struggling with Baby Girl.
When the baby is crying, I can hear Sara crying too. I offer to hold the baby or take her for a stroll or something, anything. I just want to help her. But when I try, I get 'you think I can't cope with my own baby??'.
Molly and Peter are coming by today. I hope they can help Sara, as I'm at an utter loss and feel like a failure as a husband and father!!
***Sara POV***
'Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP' why won't she stop crying? What am I doing wrong? She is clean, she is fed, sort of, as she only drinks a small bit of milk each time. I have tried burping her, Greg has tried.
My poor Greg, I love him so much, and I know he's confused. I should be as happy as a pig in shit, but I'm not. I feel so overwhelmed with the two babies. And baby girl is getting more unsettled. I only want an hour, just an hour. Sixty minutes of quiet.
I don't get it though, as the baby girl clearly hates me. And I'm starting to ha...... No, I won't say it. Even though I feel, with every fiber of my being, that this baby is not mine. I know she is, though. I gave birth to her, for goddess sake!!
That's a thought, I should pray to the goddess for help, or maybe a bit of the patients I'm so clearly lacking.
If baby girl doesn't settle soon, I may tear my own hair out. I want to enjoy this time with my babies. They are beautiful, perfect. But I'm not enjoying being a mom at the moment.
I feel ashamed of myself. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but as the days pass, I feel a pressure I've never felt before. It's almost like a voice inside my head telling me to give the baby back.
But back where? She is mine. I just have to try harder. I'm seeing Mom and Dad later, I'm sure they will help me. Please let them help me.
***Gen POV***
I'm dying to see the babies, but Dr. Julia tells me that the first few weeks after the birth of a were-child should only see Mom, Dad and babies on their own, so they can bond and form the essential link that every family has. So I will wait until I am told I can see them. I have spoken to Sara on the phone, but it was the day after the birth, and she sounded happy but shattered. So I didn't keep her on the phone long.
This life is a far cry from the life I lived in my old pack. I often think about that. My father was then Alpha. I just help here and there. And tried to stay out of the path of my Mother. I know why she disliked me so much, now of course. But, still. Look at me now. Running a pack of my own and wishing desperately everyday that my mate, the love of my life, would wake up and give me a smile.
I miss him so much, my bed is lonely at night, so I have started sleeping on the small couch inside my closet. Silly I know, I just can't face using the bed when I know Jonas won't be in it with me. I would give almost anything to feel his strong muscular arms holding me. I swipe at the tear running down my cheek, annoyed with myself for feeling self pity. There was so much going on at the moment.
Hilda was on her way back from her coven with a few spells that should give us added protection. Silas made the journey with her. They have not been separate since discovering they were mates. I shudder to think what the Grand Mage thought of the union. That brought a rare smile to my lips. I closed my eyes for a moment before leaving the apartment. When I opened them, I stood and stretched, then got ready to leave and visit my husband.
As soon as I opened the door to leave, I knew something was wrong.
The door to the Beta's apartment was open ajar, making the whole place lose its soundproofing.
Was that Greg shouting? If it was, he, who was he shouting at? I could hear another man's voice. Recognising Peter's voice and then Molly's I frown. What the hell is going on! Sara should be resting. It's only been a week since she gave birth. I had a moment's hesitation before walking up to the door and pushing it gently open.
