Chapter 89 Chapter 89
_Kayden’s POV_
I stared into Natasha’s wide eyes. They were filled with fear. Her whole body was shaking and her lips trembled as if the words were trapped inside her throat, afraid to come out.
“Where is Leah?” I asked again.
My voice was low....too low. It was the kind of voice that came before something broke....before blood was spilled.
Natasha shook her head quickly, almost violently. “I don’t know,” she cried. “I swear, Kayden. I don’t know.”
The words only fed the fire burning inside me. My chest tightened and my hands curled into fists.
Leo snarled inside me. She is lying or hiding something.
I grabbed her harder and shook her once. Then again. Her teeth clicked together as her head snapped back and forth.
“Don’t lie to me,” I growled. “Don’t make me angry, Natasha. Just tell me where she is.”
Tears spilled down her face as she struggled in my grip. “Please believe me,” she sobbed. “I really don’t know where she is.”
I stopped shaking her but I didn’t let go. My hands still trembled with barely controlled rage.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” I demanded. “You helped him take her.”
She nodded frantically. Her breath was coming in short gasps. “Yes. I did. But Tariq never told me where he was taking her.”
My chest rose and fell fast. It felt like my lungs were too small for the air I needed.
“He said it was a remote location,” she continued quickly, as if afraid I would stop her. “Somewhere hidden. Somewhere no one would find.”
Leo growled louder inside me. His fury was sharp and violent. Tear her apart.
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stay in control.
“Why?” I asked. My voice cracked despite my effort. “Why did you betray me like this?”
Her knees gave out. She fell to the floor and clutched at my legs as if I were the only thing keeping her upright.
“I’m sorry,” she cried. “I’m so sorry, Kayden.”
She pressed her forehead against my knee. She was sobbing openly now.
“I had no choice,” she said between broken breaths. “Tariq kidnapped Ray. He took my husband.”
My heart clenched painfully at the name.
“He said that if I didn’t do everything he wanted, he would kill him,” she continued. “He showed me proof. He sent me pictures.”
I closed my eyes for a brief moment, the weight of it pressing down on me.
“You could have come to me,” I said hoarsely. “You should have come to me.”
She shook her head violently. “He warned me not to tell anyone. He said if I said a word, Ray would die.”
I pulled my leg free and stepped back, creating distance between us.
“You gave Leah to him,” I said. My voice was filled with pain. “Do you have any idea what you did?”
She crawled toward me again. There was desperation written all over her face.
“She is my mate,” I continued. “She is my life.”
Leo’s voice was raw with pain. Our other half. Our soul.
“If you were so worried about your husband,” I said slowly, “then imagine how I am feeling right now.”
Natasha broke down completely. Her sobs echoed through the room.
“I didn’t want to lie to you,” she cried. “I swear I didn’t. I was so scared.”
She grabbed my legs again, clinging to me.
“Please forgive me,” she begged. “Please understand. I was desperate.”
I ran a hand through my hair and turned away. My chest ached. It felt like my heart was being crushed inch by inch.
Leo spoke softer now. She broke our trust. But our mate matters more.
“I know,” I whispered.
I turned back to her.
“So everything you told me was a lie?” I asked. “Everything?”
She hesitated, her silence answering me.
“What about the baby?” I asked sharply.
Her head dropped. “Yes,” she whispered. “That was a lie too.”
Rage exploded inside me. I grabbed a wooden chair and hurled it across the room. It smashed against the wall and shattered into pieces.
The sound echoed. It was loud and violent.
Natasha flinched and screamed.
“I was such a fool,” I said bitterly. “Leah tried to warn me.”
Leo growled in shame. We failed her.
“She told me something was wrong about you,” I continued. “And I didn’t listen.”
“I treated you like my own sister. And you stabbed me in the back.”
Natasha cried harder. “You can punish me. Do anything you want. I deserve it.”
I turned to face her fully.
“You will be punished,” I said coldly. “But not now.”
She looked up at me. There was hope flickering faintly in her eyes.
“Right now,” I continued, “my only concern is Leah.”
I began pacing the room. My boots felt heavy against the floor. My thoughts raced.
Where are you, Leah?
Leo answered quietly. We will find her.
I stopped pacing when Natasha suddenly spoke again.
“K-Kayden,” she said softly.
I turned toward her. “Speak.”
“I have an idea,” she said.
I crossed my arms. “Go on.”
“I can call Tariq,” she said. “We can trace the call.”
Leo stirred. This could work.
I thought for a moment before nodding. “Yes. We’ll try.”
I stepped outside and called Fred. “Bring someone who can trace a call,” I ordered. “Now.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Fred replied instantly.
Within minutes, Fred arrived with a man carrying equipment. There were wires, screens and a laptop. The man set everything up quickly.
“We’re ready,” he said.
I turned to Natasha. “Do exactly as I say,” I warned. “One wrong word and this ends badly for you.”
She nodded and took a deep breath before dialing Tariq’s number.
The phone rang once. Twice. Then he answered.
“What do you want?” Tariq snapped. “Why are you bothering me?”
“There’s a big problem,” Natasha said, forcing panic into her voice.
“What problem?” he asked impatiently.
“The seer,” Natasha said. “She found you.”
My heart skipped.
Leo growled. Clever.
“That’s impossible,” Tariq said calmly. “Susan placed barriers by using dark spells. No one can find this place.”
Natasha glanced at me. I gave her a small nod.
“No,” Natasha insisted. “Kayden knows.”
“You’re wrong,” Tariq replied. “He doesn’t know anything.”
“He is coming,” Natasha said urgently. “He’s gathering his men.”
The tracer beeped softly. Fred nodded at me.
We have him.
“I don’t care,” Tariq said. “Stop calling me for useless things.”
“But what if....” Natasha began.
“I said stop,” Tariq growled. “I have important work to do.”
The call ended. Silence filled the room.
I turned to the screen. A red dot blinked on the map.
My breath caught.
The dot was in the southern woods. It was a remote and deep location.
Leo’s voice was fierce. That’s where she is.
I clenched my fists. I could feel the power and rage surging through me.
“Prepare the warriors,” I said slowly.
My eyes burned with determination.
“I’m coming for you, Leah.”
And this time, no one would stop me.
