Chapter 102 CHAPTER 102

Chapter 102 CHAPTER 102
Lisa and Liam remained in the palace hallway long after the council doors had closed.

The echoes of raised voices, of firm refusals and carefully chosen words, still lingered in the air like something unfinished. Lisa stood beside Liam, her fingers curled into the sleeve of his jacket without realizing it. Ethan had already left them, his face tight with restraint, his apology still ringing painfully in her ears.

The council had refused.

Lisa hadn’t spoken since.

Inside her mind, however, nothing was quiet.

Celia was restless.

“He’s getting worse,” Celia finally said, her voice tight. “Lisa… Kael is dying.”

Lisa stopped walking. The palace corridor seemed suddenly too quiet, the stone walls pressing in around her. She pressed her fingers to her chest, as though she could still the pain there, but it only deepened.

“I know,” Lisa whispered. “I feel it too.”

Celia turned toward her, fierce and unwavering. “Then we cannot sit here and do nothing. I can take you to him so you can see for yourself just how bad his condition is.”

Liam had been walking beside them, silent, watchful. He saw the shift immediately -  the way Lisa’s shoulders stiffened, the way her breathing changed. He didn’t need to hear Celia’s words to know something was wrong.

“What’s happening?” he asked quietly.

Lisa looked at him, conflict written plainly across her face. “Celia wants to take me to the Wolf Realm. She wants me to see Kael… to see how bad it really is.”

Liam didn’t answer right away. His jaw tightened, his instincts flaring sharp and protective. “You’re not going alone,” he said at last.

Celia exhaled slowly, relief flickering through her bond. “I wouldn’t expect her to.”

Before Lisa could respond, Kane stirred within Liam, his presence solid and steady. “If we go,” Kane said, “we go together.”

Liam nodded once. “All of us. You, me… and them.” His gaze flicked briefly to Lisa. “We’re not splitting up.”

Lisa reached for his hand, squeezing it tightly. “Thank you.”

Celia closed her eyes. “Then come. There’s no time left to hesitate.”

Lisa and Liam held into each other’s hands fingers interlacing - both humans and wolves, heart and soul. The world tilted, folded inward, and then released them.

The Wolf Realm greeted them with breathless beauty.

Emerald grass stretched endlessly beneath a sky brushed with silver light. Ancient trees rose like guardians, their leaves whispering secrets older than memory. Wolves moved through the land in quiet harmony, powerful and alert, their eyes glowing with intelligence.

Lisa gasped softly. This was no shadow world. It was alive -  painfully, exquisitely alive.

She felt the shift instantly as she separated from Celia, standing fully on her own for the first time in this realm. Nearby, Liam straightened as Kane emerged beside him, tall and commanding, his dark fur catching the light.

The shift completed, and for a brief moment, no one moved.

Lisa realized then that for the first time since everything began, they were all standing there as four separate beings -  not voices in one another’s heads, not shadows or instincts, but fully present. Human and wolf. Heart and soul.

Celia was the first to step forward.

She turned to Liam, studying him with open curiosity, not suspicion. Her gaze was sharp but warm, as if she were measuring not his strength, but his intent. Then she inclined her head slightly.

“So this is you,” she said softly. “The one who makes her smile when she forgets how.”

Liam swallowed, caught off guard. “I try,” he replied honestly.

Celia’s lips curved faintly. “I can feel it. You’re good for her. You don’t pull at her wounds — you give her space to heal.” She glanced at Lisa, her voice gentler now. “I’m glad you found him.”

Lisa felt emotion rise suddenly, thick and unexpected. “That means more to me than you know.”

Nearby, Kane stepped forward, his presence calm but commanding. His gaze fixed on Lisa, steady and assessing -  not as a threat, not as a rival, but as something closer to kin.

“You’ve changed him,” Kane said quietly. “Before you, Liam carried the world like a burden. Now he carries it like something worth protecting.” He dipped his head toward her. “I’m grateful.”

Lisa blinked, surprised. “I never meant to complicate….”

Kane shook his head. “You didn’t complicate anything, it happened because it was real.”

Celia turned then, finally facing Kane properly. Their eyes met, and for a brief second, something unspoken passed between them -  not romance, not destiny, but recognition.

“I don’t want to stand between them,” Celia said plainly. “Whatever the goddess tangled… what they’ve chosen is theirs.”

Kane nodded once. “I know. Neither do I.”

Celia looked back at Lisa, her voice firm but kind. “What you have with him is stronger than any bond forced by prophecy. I can feel it. It’s chosen.”

Lisa reached out instinctively, squeezing Liam’s hand. He squeezed back, grounding her.

“For the first time,” Lisa whispered, “it feels like we’re all standing on the same side.”

Celia exhaled slowly. “Then let’s go. Kael doesn’t have much time.”

“There,” Celia said softly, already moving. “Kael’s cave.”

The healer’s cave was warm, lit by glowing veins of crystal embedded in stone. But the warmth did nothing to soften the sight waiting inside.

Kael lay motionless on a bed of woven moss and fur, his once-powerful body reduced to a fragile stillness. His breathing was shallow, uneven, as though each breath was borrowed time.

Lisa’s heart clenched painfully.

Celia dropped to her knees beside him. “He’s worse,” she whispered.

The healer rose slowly, his expression grave. “He hasn’t woken in three days. He refuses food. His bond is failing him.”

Liam swallowed hard. Even Kane stood still, ears pinned back.

“There’s nothing more I can do,” the healer continued. “Not without something… more.”

Kane stepped forward then, compelled by instinct he didn’t fully understand. He reached out, placing his paw gently against Kael’s neck.

Pain exploded through him.

Kane yelped, jerking back sharply as if struck by lightning. “What in the…”

Kael’s eyes fluttered open.

Just for a moment.

The cave went silent.

The healer froze. “That’s not possible.”

Kane stared at his paw, then at Kael. Slowly, he reached out again.

The shock came stronger this time -  sharp, burning, coursing through his body. But so did something else.

Kael inhaled deeply.

Color returned faintly to his fur. His chest rose more steadily.

Celia gasped. “He’s responding.”

Kane stumbled back, shaken. “It’s like… something pulled from me. Not willingly. Not violently. Just - connected.”

The healer’s eyes narrowed with awe and confusion. “I’ve never seen this before.”

Lisa felt it then -  a tug at her chest, faint but undeniable. A hum beneath her skin, resonating with Celia, with Kane, with Kael.

“It’s not just them,” she whispered. “It’s all of us.”

The healer shook his head slowly. “Until I understand what this is… you must not repeat it.”

Celia rose reluctantly. “We’ll come back.”

“Yes,” the healer said. “And next time, we come armed with answers.”

Lisa reached out, brushing her fingers lightly against Kael’s fur. “Hold on,” she whispered. “Just a little longer.”

They returned to the human realm in silence, each of them carrying the weight of what they had seen -  and what they did not yet understand.
