Chapter 7 I'm Not Jenny! I'm Jennifer Ross! I'm Not Your Wife!
"What did you just say? You're my husband? Hahaha... don't joke around! Since when did I marry you? Why am I just finding out about this now? Please, my life is already miserable enough today! So don't add to it with jokes in broad daylight that aren't even funny! Sir... wait a minute... Are you... Mr Williams? I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but it really is you! What are you doing at my house?" Jennifer, who was already annoyed, became even more annoyed as she stood with her hands on her hips, looking at the man in front of her, who turned out to be Gerald William, none other than the former boss who had fired her that morning.
Gerald walked slowly, but his sharp gaze and dark green eyes made everyone feel intimidated and amazed by his good looks.
Jennifer was no exception. She swallowed hard, her throat feeling dry at the sight of Gerald, and her heart beating faster and faster.
But Jennifer refused to give in; she stared back at Gerald defiantly.
‘Damn his handsome face… Oh God… why does he look even more dashing in that rumpled shirt? Wake up, Jennifer! He’s the one who fired you! He’s the one who made you suffer today and lose your job! Ignore him! He’s nothing but an arrogant, heartless man! Yeah, that’s right!’ Jennifer thought to herself and resolved not to back down.
Gerald curled the corners of his lips into a cynical smile as he watched his wife’s behaviour, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt and loosening the tie around his neck.
‘Where do you think you’re running off to, little rabbit? How dare you… run away while pregnant and take my pups away from me for six years! I’ve been searching for you like a madman! I’ll teach you a lesson you won’t forget! You’ll scream all night under me, and I won’t let you go for even a second!’ Gerald thought to himself.
Jennifer stood silently in her place, pulling her child closer to her body, and Alex looked at the tall, broad-chested man in front of him with confusion.
"Mum, who is he? Why does he claim me as his? Is he my father?" Alex looked at Jennifer and Gerald alternately.
Jennifer, who understood Alex's thoughts, shook her head.
"Don't be ridiculous! He's not your father! I don't know him! He's just a crazy man who's probably obsessed with me! Don't go away from me! Stay with me! We don't know what his intentions are! He could be the one who did all this!" Jennifer leaned towards Alex and they communicated through their thoughts.
"But... he... has eyes that look just like mine, Mum! Are you sure you don't know him?" Alex looked back at his mother.
"No! Enough! Don't argue! Have you ever seen him by my side in the last six years? No, right? That means he could be the wrong person! Be quiet! I will definitely protect you!" Jennifer exclaimed again.
Gerald looked at both of them, "What are you doing?"
Gerald reached out his hand towards Alex and tried to put his arm around Jennifer's shoulder, but Jennifer stepped back, her hand stopping Gerald's movement.
"Stop standing there, Mr. William! Don't come any closer! I don't know you! And I'm not your wife, and Alex isn't your son! Alex is my son with... a man who has passed away! I've never been married! I gave birth to him through insemination! He's not your son at all! Maybe you've got the wrong person!" Jennifer exclaimed, holding one hand in front of her.
“Jenny? Don’t you recognise me? I’m Gerald! Your husband! Your Mate! I couldn’t possibly have mistaken you! Your scent hasn’t changed! Darling… are you angry with me because of what happened this morning? I’m such a fool! I didn’t recognise you sooner, I was busy and had a headache because of my mounting workload! And the secretary I was waiting for was late! So you were that secretary! Forgive me, okay? Let's go home to our mansion in Beverly Hills! Why are you living in this shabby flat on Rosewood Avenue? Are you having financial difficulties, dear? Why didn't you come to me? I would have helped you! My money is your money!" Gerald looked around Jennifer's very modest flat with a disgusted expression.
Jennifer's eyes widened. 'What did he just say? Beverly Hills? Has he gone mad, comparing his house there to the cheap flat I rent?
"Listen, Mr Williams! I'm not Jenny! My name is Jennifer Ross! And let me say it again, I'm not your wife! And... I know you're rich, but that doesn't give you the right to insult me! Enough of this charade, get out of here! We have nothing to do with each other!" Jennifer exclaimed, slightly dismissively.
"That's not what I meant... what I meant was..."
Gerald looked at her guiltily. Gerald was about to step forward but was then held back by Captain Bryan.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Ross has said that she doesn't know you! And you're not her husband, so I hope..." Captain Bryan Smith blocked Gerald's path. Although Captain Bryan was not as tall or as big as Gerald, he did not show the slightest fear.
"You... You're just a lowly human being! Get out of my way! Let me talk to my wife!" Gerald shouted angrily, beginning to growl and his eyes flashing.
Gerald almost attacked Captain Gerald, but then someone behind him held him back, shouting.
"Sir... Hold on!"
The man, who was none other than John, whispered something in Gerald's ear. "Alpha, be patient! We can't cause a commotion here! This area is too crowded! Like I said earlier, Mrs. Jenny doesn't seem to recognise you, Alpha! Something is strange here! I'll find out later! But right now, it seems we can't do anything! Because... we don't have any proof that Mrs. Jenny is your wife!"
"What do you mean I don't have any proof? Everyone in our pack knows that she is my mate!" he growled softly while continuing to growl.
"I mean... authentic proof of your marriage! Do you remember, back then... almost all of our evidence was burned in the attack six years ago! Be patient... My Alpha! It seems that Mrs. Jenny will only believe us once we have that proof! Ma'am... it seems... sorry, but My Alpha seems to have lost his memory?!" John said very carefully.
Gerald looked at John, then looked sadly at Jennifer and her child in turn.
‘Why is he looking at me like that? Why does his gaze seem… sad?’ Jennifer, uncomfortable with Gerald’s gaze, looked away.
Gerald relented and stepped back for a moment.
"Are you all right? I see you don't have a place to stay right now... How about I help you, and forgive me for my behaviour this morning and just now. I sincerely want to help you! Consider it my apology to you! How about it?" Gerald tried to soften his tone, suppressing his ego.
Jennifer turned her head but then replied indifferently, "No! Thank you! I think... I can handle it! Oh yes, Captain Bryan, is your offer still valid?"
"Offer?"
"About temporary accommodation at your house? Can we stay at your place for a night or a few days?"
"Oh... of course, Mrs Ross! You could even stay there forever, as it happens the house is unused! So…”
“WHAT???!! NO!!”
Someone shouted with thunderous emotion, even Jennifer, who was startled, jumped up and hugged her child.
