Chapter 62 Sudden Accident

Chapter 62 Sudden Accident
Just then, the door opens, and Shorya enters carrying a tray. On it are two mugs of steaming coffee and a plate of snacks. Placing the tray on the table, he looks at Neeti and says with a smile, "Your Vihan bhai has gotten married."

Neeti freezes, stunned. Her eyes widen with shock, and in the very next moment, her face lights up with pure joy. She jumps up from her seat, runs to Vihan, and exclaims with excitement, "Really, Bhai?! You got married?!"

Vihan is left speechless, simply gazing at her. After so many days, he finally sees Neeti smile, talk, and laugh with such happiness. That moment feels priceless to him.

Shorya sets the coffee on the table and sits beside them, watching quietly, his heart silently warmed by Neeti's bright smile.

Neeti’s eyes sparkle even brighter as she stands in front of Vihan, full of excitement. "What? When did you get married? How? To whom? Tell me everything right now!" she exclaims, her voice full of childlike curiosity.

Vihan laughs seeing her innocent excitement. He gently ruffles her hair and replies playfully, "Hey hey... slow down! So many questions at once? It’s a long story, which I’ll tell you in detail someday soon, sitting peacefully."

Neeti pouts and says with stubbornness, "No, I want to hear it now! You didn’t even tell me, and you got married?"

Vihan’s smile fades slightly as he looks into her eyes, then he asks in a more serious tone, "First, you tell me what have you done to your health? You’re running a fever and still studying? What’s all this, Neeti?"

Neeti makes a childish face and replies, "I didn’t do anything... my health got worse on its own. How was I supposed to know I’d get a fever?"

Just then, Shorya, who has been sitting on the sofa sipping his coffee, chuckles and joins in, "Yeah yeah... go ahead, scold your sister. She’s become really stubborn these days. Doesn’t listen to me at all."

Neeti hears him and turns to glare at Shorya, her eyes filled with both annoyance and a hint of amusement, "You stay quiet... you always blame me for everything. When have you ever cared about me?"

Shorya puts his coffee mug on the table and leans slightly toward her. “It’s your well-being that doesn’t let me live in peace. I think about you all the time.”
Neeti is taken aback by his words and stares at him in surprise. Her heart skips a beat, but instead of reacting, she turns her eyes away and ignores him, focusing back on Vihan and talking to him instead.
After a while, Vihan stands up to leave. He smiles at both of them and quietly walks out, giving them some space.

Shorya remains sitting there in the study room, his thoughts wandering.

Neeti, on the other hand, gathers her books and quietly goes back to her room.

It is a stormy night in Dehradun. The sky thunders with lightning, rain pours relentlessly, and fierce winds howl, making the entire haveli tremble. Sharp flashes of lightning light up the sky for mere seconds before plunging everything back into darkness. Inside the mansion, an eerie silence prevails, disturbed only by the sound of raindrops beating against the windows.

Riya is unable to sleep. A strange restlessness grips her heart. She wraps a shawl around her shoulders and quietly opens the door of her room, stepping into the dark corridor. She only wants to watch the rain, but the darkness is so intense that she can barely see anything except when lightning flashes.

She barely takes a step forward when suddenly someone grabs her from behind, covering her mouth tightly. Shocked and terrified, Riya struggles, tears welling up in her eyes. The man doesn’t say a word. He simply lifts her into his arms and carries her swiftly through the corridor.

Riya tries to scream, to fight back, but his grip is firm, and her voice is muffled. Within moments, he carries her outside toward the garden. The rain pours down on them, drenching them both.
In the faint moonlight, Riya finally sees his face. It is Karan.

Furious, she shouts, “Are you crazy? Why did you bring me out here?! I’m soaked! What kind of nonsense is this?”

Karan gives her a mischievous smile and replies, “The weather is so romantic… I think it’s the perfect time to enjoy some rain and romance with you.”
Riya glares at him and snaps, “You’ve completely lost your mind! Take me back right now!”

But Karan doesn’t let go. He catches her hand again and says, “Just come with me…”

Still fuming, Riya struggles to break free, but Karan pulls her along and leads her out to the road in front of the haveli.

“Let me go, Karan! I’m leaving! Don’t follow me!” Riya shouts as she pulls her hand free and storms ahead in anger.

Suddenly, Karan’s eyes widen in shock. He notices a speeding car approaching Riya from behind. His heart nearly stops.

In panic, he screams, “Riya!!!!!!!!”

Before she can react, Karan lunges forward and shoves her out of the way, sending her tumbling safely to the grassy side. But Karan himself stumbles into the car’s path.

The car swerves sharply to avoid him, missing him by inches, but Karan loses his balance and falls hard onto the road. Pain shoots through his leg, and a deep wound begins to bleed.

Riya lies on the ground, stunned. The moment she realizes what has happened, she scrambles to her feet and runs to him.

Tears stream down her face as she kneels beside him. “Karan! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Please tell me you’re alright!”

Karan, wincing in pain, gives her a faint smile. “You’re safe, right? That’s all that matters to me…”
Riya nods in affirmation and, struggling to hold back her tears, supports Karan carefully. She isn’t entirely in her senses. Fear and worry cloud her mind, but gathering all her strength, she helps him back inside the haveli. Every step Karan takes is laced with pain, yet a faint smile remains on his face, as if just being near Riya makes him forget every ounce of it.

Riya’s breathing is fast, her hands trembling, yet she holds him firmly, guiding him slowly up the staircase toward his room.

Within ten minutes, they reach Karan’s room. Karan sits on the bed, his clothes still soaked from the rain. Riya quickly grabs a towel and gently wipes his face, then moves to his injured foot to dress the wound.

Her hands shake with every touch not from physical strain, but from the overwhelming pain in her heart. Her fear for Karan grows with each passing moment. Yet Karan, despite everything, wears a faint smile.

Looking at his wounded leg, Karan tilts his head toward the ceiling and lets out a soft chuckle. “Even God doesn’t want me to spend a little time with you. Every time I come near you… something or the other happens.”
