Chapter 118. Preparing for the journey
Prince Vincent
"You've won technically but I would have beat your ass if not for your aunt."
Alpha Zero's words followed his movements as he open the door of my bedroom hastily, the morning came and I am busy doing the usual exercise in my bedroom balcony. My luggage and some of the things that I need to take for the journey is all set and ready but I haven't talk to Ashley yet, the one thing that's more than necessary before I left.
"Good morning to you too!"
I put down the heavy weights I was lifting before I took a deep breath in and out then look at him up and down. His aura is the same, I could almost tell that he possesses the same amount of strength and power like my own father, the Alpha King. Somehow I felt relieved that he was not injured from the spar.
"Uncle, I have to tell you that a rematch on that fight is going to happen as soon as I finish the task that my father has given me."
A smirk form on his lips after hearing what I just said. "There is no need for that Vincent, I have no problem in bowing down to you as the next Alpha King whenever the time comes that your father wish to retire. You don't have to prove anything to me, since I believe that your strength will evolve faster and you have what it takes to become the Alpha King."
My eyes turn wide hearing those words coming from his lips. I could almost not believe that he has that kind of faith in me, something that is even more reassuring than my father. It is despite the fact that he was weaken by his mate during our fight.
"Uncle! I, can't thank you enough for saying that. I honestly don't know what to say but I feel grateful for your confidence in me. I just hope father is feeling the same."
My hands move to wipe the sweat I have on my forehead as I diverted my eyes outside of the balcony. The last thing I need is pity that is why I can't let him see the pain mirrored in my eyes. When I was younger, I used to visit him and my aunt in the North and I enjoyed it everytime.
"Oh believe me Vincent when I say your father is thinking the same as what I've thought about your future. Whatever he has assigned you to do is for your own greater purpose. And whatever he says sometimes he felt exactly the opposite. In preparation for the throne, you must face bigger challenges ahead. And when I say bigger, it could mean powerful enemies."
He walk beside me to the edge of the balcony and watch the same view of the Palace garden. "Your aunt and I are leaving this afternoon as well, why don't you come with us to the North and from there you can head out to the West."
My head turn to him and watched his prominent jaw relax. The war have made him strong and perhaps my uncle's past has made him the great Alpha like he is today. I should be grateful of the opportunity he has given to spar with me.
"Cool! That's a good idea, however does my aunt knows about this?"
My mind went back to the incident last night and remember the hatred written all over my aunt's face. I hope she is not mad with me anymore, it was just a spar.
"She will agree to that I assure you. Anyway, I won't stay long since I have to get ready for our journey as well."
He stretch out his body and I even heard his bones crackles a little before he muttered thanks to the Moon Goddess. Alpha Zero has regained his own strength.
"Alright uncle."
I watch his huge back turned away from me and walk out of my room. For his big built and tall height, he walks without noise in walking down the halls of the Palace.
There is just one more person that I needed to see before I will begin my journey. I look down at the weights and equipment I use to exercise before shaking my head in disagreement. I better get a shower and look for her.
I can already feel her presence not far from me, maybe she is just inside her room enjoying a late breakfast or working out like I do.
I went inside the bathroom and turned the water in the shower on before picking up my tootbrush and toothpaste to clean my mouth. It's been a day or two since I last saw her and if not for this journey, I wonder if she is going to stay with me after our wedding when everything that I ever wish to do is to be with her.
After the shower, I change into my usual t-shirt and jeans check myself in the mirror and spray a mild cologne. When I finished wearing a pair or sneakers my feet head out to the room which I needed to see the most before I leave.
I could smell her scent even from a few miles away just like blooming red poppies in a field.
I did a warning knock and open the door of her room, I have a feeling it isn't lock since Maria has to come and go to tend to her breakfast and clearing her room.
I push the door open and step inside, trying to ignore the feeling when her scent grows stronger inside her room.
"Good morning Ashley."
She's sitting in the chair beside the small table in her balcony. She must have not notice that I came in for she stirred up from her seat when I spoke.
"Oh! Good morning. I didn't know you were coming to join me for breakfast so I just finish it all."
She sounded a little surprise however she manages to cover it up with a smile.
There is nothing left in the small table except for the cup of coffee in her hand. My eyes notice the rim of the cup the part where she pressed it with her lips when she sips at the coffee. I have a feeling that the cup is somehow more lucky than me.
"I am not here for breakfast."
I pull the chair next to her and sat down uninvited, looking at her face remembering every smooth lines and the soft lips that I have tasted more than once. She clears her throat and took the cup of coffee in her lips before putting it down and look at my eyes.
"What do you want then? Is it about the incoming wedding?"
She didn't have idea that I am leaving this day yet.
"I will have to talk about you after I came back from the journey. I came to say goodbye for a while, there's something I need to take care of far away from here. When I come back we will have a final talk."
My eyes notice the slight hint of emotion that cross her eyes before she blinks and made her face expressionless.
"Oh, I guess another one of your duties as the Alpha King's son then."
She shrugs her shoulders like she didn't care but I could feel that she is lying. Her heart beat is getting fast as how I could her it from my sensitive ears. If only I could mark her before I leave.
"You can say it like that, it's crucial being the only one heir to my father's throne. Maybe when we get married, I will have as many heirs as I can so the duties will be divided."
A gasp game out of her throat which made my lips smile.
"I'm just trying to humour you."
I chuckle lightly, to put her at ease when I feel her heart become giddy. She took a deep breath in and smile.
"Good luck your majesty. I promise to behave while you are gone."
I stop chuckling and look at her straight in the eyes. "That's what I need to hear and one more thing, promise me that you will stay put until I'm back."
There was a brief silence before I hear her say something.
"Of course! I will be here until you come back."
I smiled at the back of my head, there is not much to say anymore. The assurance I need has been certain, and when there is more that I needed to tell her it will be when I come back.
