Chapter 60: Getting Back Together
Rion took care of me until my condition recovered well and I could return to work. That morning, I was getting ready for the office when someone pressed the doorbell of my apartment; I could already guess who had come this early to have breakfast with me.
"I thought you were leaving so early for a business trip?!"
My forehead scrunched up at the sight of Rion with two white plastic bags that must have contained groceries. The man didn't answer me; he just let out a long sigh and went inside. I followed him and closed the door.
"I canceled my schedule today," he said as he placed the white plastic bags on the counter near the stove.
"Why?" I asked curiously.
"I need to hear your confession first," he replied, which confused me. I looked at him with a questioning gaze.
"Confession?"
I didn't understand what he meant. Rion then rolled up his shirt sleeves to his elbows as he approached me, and then, without a signal, he lifted my body, which was shorter than his.
"You have to admit that our relationship is back on track."
My eyes rounded for a few seconds. So Rion is just here for this?! Not funny at all.
"I haven't-"
"What more reason do you need? You slept with me, then you're pregnant with my child, you're wearing my ring, and you're about to receive a gift from me," he said as one of his hands held up a car key that made me gape slightly in surprise.
"But, I-"
"Are the two reasons I mentioned not enough? We were even seen in public a few times, had lunch, then I stayed here to take care of you and then we-"
"Okay, stop. Put me down," I cut in quickly, but Rion took me to my room, where we both lay on my bed with me underneath him this time.
"Should I add one more proof this morning that you should accept me again soon?" he asked with a spark of passion, lighting his amber eyes up. For a moment, I was stunned by those eyes. Ever since I first saw him, I couldn't look away, only to get trapped in this complicated situation.
"Will I be accepted this time?" I asked with a hint of fear suddenly rising inside me, mixed with anxiety. We fell silent with our eyes locked on each other.
"I will make it so; your place will always be by my side, Amelia," he said, which made me even more afraid to believe him.
"You could do that painful thing again someday. You have many interests, and I have many reasons to be sacrificed, don't you think?" I asked, now tears were slowly gathering in my eyes. Rion gently pulled my arms, and my body rose with him; he hugged me.
"I'm sorry for hurting you so much," he said, and I couldn't stop myself from crying.
"Last chance; after this, if the situation repeats itself, you will never see me again, nor this baby."
I looked up at the teary-eyed Rion, who was now looking at me and wiping the tears off my cheeks.
"As long as I'm breathing, I will always love you."
I couldn't help but smile at that amazing confession. Rion kissed my forehead briefly, and I closed my eyes to savor this intimacy. As we were about to leave for the office and were in the basement, I was astonished by the new car that Rion had gifted me. A sweetheart-red Volvo. I knew it was one of the best cars in its class.
"You drive," Rion said as he threw the car keys at me, which I reflexively caught and brought me back to reality. Rion got into the car first in the front seat, while I followed a few seconds later and sat in the driver's seat.
"You're serious, right?!" I asked before starting the engine, confirming that Rion was giving me this expensive but elegant object. I stared at Rion, waiting for his answer; he turned to me with half his body and then gave me a brief kiss on my lips, but a wet and deep kiss.
"I don't mind if you want us to love right now. I'm here to reassure you that we still have a few minutes."
My face felt hot, and I'm sure both cheeks blushed with embarrassment. Rion smiled with satisfaction when I couldn't reply to his vulgar words. I couldn't help but chuckle in response and look around the interior of my new car.
"Do you want to do it? If not, start the engine; otherwise, I might start messing with your appearance with my hands right now."
Hearing Rion's threat seemed serious, so I immediately obeyed him and started the car's engine. I drove him to his office first, after which I went to my office. A long whistle startled me as I parked in the front yard of Miracle Law's office building and closed the car door.
"Oh my, Elma, you startled me," I said as I put my hand on my chest.
"I must admit your ex-boyfriend is a hard man to resist," Elma said as she approached me, looked through my windshield to see what was inside, and then looked back at me. I smiled nervously and also embarrassed; I leaned back against my car and folded my hands in front of my chest, then cast my gaze forward.
"I can't be from him anymore anyway; I'm pregnant with his child," I admitted as I realized it was useless to hide this fact any longer.
"What? Since when?" asked Elma with a surprised intonation.
"Three months ago, did you not know?" I asked, then turned to Elma to ensure she didn't know. She shook her head; I grabbed one of her arms, took her by the hand, and walked inside the Miracle Law office.
"Did he know beforehand that you were pregnant with his child?" asked Elma while we were still on our way into the office building.
"No, we broke up before he and I knew I was pregnant."
"So, you found out after you broke up, too? What an unnatural coincidence; you guys are destined to be inseparable."
Elma's words made me ponder for a moment. Was this my and Rion's destiny? That we couldn't be separated by anything?
Because even though I tried to forget him all this time, I was still stuck with my feelings of love for him. It was so hard to ignore him, plus I was pregnant with his child, the fruit of our passion. On the one hand, I was disappointed in Rion, but on the other hand, my love for him hadn't diminished one bit; in fact, I was tormented by it.
I sat in my chair, still thinking about my complicated relationship with Rion. Does it have to be this difficult for Alpha and Omega? Are Rion and I meant to be together? Or are we just bound to each other, and this feeling is just because we're Alpha and Omega, there's no zing between us!
That assumption disturbed my mind; Mr. Marco's voice distracted me from thinking about my complicated relationship with Rion.
"It's good to have you back. How are you?" asked Mr. Marco, which made me turn my chair to face him. I smiled and then replied, "I'm healed and fine. Thank you for worrying, and sorry for making Miss Elma take over my work."
I turned to Elma and smiled; she gave me an 'ok' sign with her finger. Then looked back at Mr. Marco.
"I think Rion is taking good care of you."
Mr. Marco's words struck me this time; I smiled again.
"He's a competent man for the woman he loves; I'm honored to be that woman."
I deliberately said that to emphasize my position and declare my relationship with Rion. Mr. Marco gave a small nod, his lips pressed tightly together, and then he left for his room.
"I think he likes you," whispered Lily, who had just come and sat in her chair. My forehead furrowed.
"That's impossible; I think Mr. Marco has a crush on one of our senior associates," I snapped and stated my assumption. Lily snickered and rolled her eyes.
"I know when a man likes a woman; I even know when a man likes me," Lily said, which sounded arrogant. Still, there was no denying that there was a type of person like her who was sensitive to other people's feelings.
Am I not one of them?
My other self wondered, and I had time to think about that and judge myself. I don't want to misinterpret Mr. Marco's attitude towards me all this time; he wants to thank me because, as his subordinate, I worked very well with him.
"Want to prove it?"
Lily's question snapped me out of my reverie. I exhaled loudly. My gaze then fell on the closed door of Mr. Marco's room, and the man walked out of his room carrying a green plastic folder. I watched his interaction with Patrcia. There was nothing special, but when I caught Mr. Marco staring at me, he smiled, which surprised and embarrassed me.
I think Lily's assumption deserves more attention.
