Chapter 77
**Wedding Day**
*Luna’s POV*
The sky was painted in delicate shades of pink and gold when the morning of my wedding broke. As if the forest itself was holding its breath in anticipation, a fine mist coiled about the trees. There was a lot of activity on the Silver Fang pack grounds: elders spoke holy blessings, omegas brought trays of sweet-smelling pastries, and warriors guarded the perimeter.
In my room, I stood in front of a mirror made of polished silver and gazed at my reflection. The elaborate embroidery on the garment shimmered in the lantern's light as it flowed over me like liquid moonlight. Embroidered with symbols of power, togetherness, and rebirth, the cloth embraced my body before flowing into a lovely train.
With experienced ease, Mira repositioned my veil and skillfully sewed the silver-threaded lace into my hair. She said, "You look like a goddess."
My heart swelled as I looked into the mirror at her. "I feel... different." As if this isn't only a wedding but rather the end of one chapter and the start of something far bigger.
She grinned. "Yes, it is. It won't be a quiet chapter either, knowing you.
Nerves throbbing under my skin, I chuckled faintly.
The moment was cut short by a knock on the door. Darius, Kai's Beta, intervened, his face inscrutable. "Now is the moment."
Mira took a step back after squeezing my hand. "Luna, go make history."
The Moonstone Altar, an old holy site tucked away in the middle of the woodland, served as the venue for the ceremony. With their branches intertwining above as if to bless the nuptials, towering trees created a natural cathedral. Kai was waiting at the altar, which was surrounded by white petals. As soon as I emerged, his golden eyes met mine, and all else vanished into the distance.
I felt like fate was drawing me closer to him with each step. All of the sounds—the wind rustling the leaves, the elders' murmurs, and the whispering of the crowd—became a buzz.
As I got closer, Kai's fingertips touched mine and he stretched out. "You are stunning," he muttered.
My heart was racing. "You yourself don't look that horrible."
The elders' chanting, which was an age-old spell of unity and protection, kicked off the ceremony. Something bigger than us seemed to be in the air, as though the moon itself was keeping watch over our promises.
"Are you, Luna, the Silver Fang Pack's daughter, willing to walk side by side with Kai in strength and loyalty as your mate and Alpha?"
I raised my chin. "Yes, I do."
"And as the Alpha of the Silver Fang Pack, Kai, do you accept Luna as your mate and promise to always cherish and protect her?"
He spoke steadily and with complete conviction. "Yes, I do."
The moonlight glinted on the edge of a ceremonial blade that was drawn. Before we clasped hands and let our blood mix, a small cut was made on our palms. Words could never describe the burning warmth that coiled around my soul as the bond between us flared to life.
A surge of silver light pulsed between us, a rare gift from the Moon Goddess herself, and gasps echoed through the crowd.
"It's finished," the elder declared. "They are one."
Wolves howled in joy as the stadium burst into shouts. With his arms around me, Kai planted a kiss on my lips that was full of commitment, promises, and eternity.
However, the celebration was cut short just as it was coming to a head by a spooky howl in the distance, accompanied by the distinct smell of blood.
A scout rushed from the foliage, his face pallid. “Alpha! Luna! The other pack has begun an attack—*they’re here*.”
The wedding had j
ust concluded, and already, battle had found us.
