Chapter 18: It works
Norwan went home after what happened to him in Natalie’s office; this time, he concluded something to his mind while driving home. That is, Natalie really changed, and he thinks she will be why his hard work to make his business big caused him to slowly put it back to where it all started.
Before he entered his house, he took a deep breath and started to walk inside; as he went inside, he saw Cora watching a movie with his sister, Dixie. He knows the two's bond and knows that Drixie wants Cora to be his Luna.
“You’re home; you are too early today, huh,” Drixie said and drank her wine. Cora looked to Norwan’s place and smiled as soon as she saw him. She stood up and went in front of Norwan.
“Why are you early today, Norwan? Does something happen?” Cora asked. Norwan smiled at her, went to the couch, and removed his tie.
“I just wanted to sleep early today,” Norwan said; he doesn’t like to tell them what really happened because he knows that Drixie will start to say words he doesn’t like to hear. He wanted peace of mind right now, and telling them what happened to him earlier was a wrong idea.
“That’s strange,” Drixie said, putting down her wine glass and turning the television off. She then leans to her seat and crosses her arms. “I know that something happened. I know you. You won't go home early if nothing happened.” Drixie said, so Norwan chuckled and looked at his sister.
“What do you want me to say? That my employee is a dumb-headed shit and they do something wrong to the job that caused me to shout to them and results in me to go home this early?” Norwan asked sarcastically. Drixie just sighs and looks to Cora, who quietly listens to them.
“Your girlfriend was just worried about you, Norwan,” Drixie said, so Norwan looked at Cora and sighed.
“There’s nothing to worry.” He said and looked at his watch. “I really just wanted to sleep early today,” he added and looked at the both of them.
“Okay, if that’s what you said,” Drixie said, grabbing her wine glass from the table again and sipping her wine.
“Anyways, have you heard about Natalie?” Drixie asked, so Norwan frowned and looked at her thoughtfully.
“What about her?” Norwan asked out of curiosity.
“So you didn’t know?” Drixie asked and smirked. Cora frowned and looked at Drixie.
“Drixie, you don’t have to mention her to him. Norwan is tired, and she’s not worth talking about.” Cora said, so Norwan looked at Cora.
“I wanna hear it.” He said and looked at his sister. “Continue what you are going to say.” He added. Drixie smirked and looked at her brother.
“I think Cora is right. It’s not worth it to talk about that bitch.” She said that caused Norwan to frown.
“Why are you so curious about her?” Drixie suddenly asked Norwan, so Norwan just rolled his eyes and sighed.
“Of course, she’s still our business partner,” Norwan said, but he suddenly remembered that Natalie had signed the termination of the paper earlier. Meanwhile, Cora couldn’t believe what she had heard.
“Does it mean that Natalie is the new CEO of their business? And Norwan and her still have a connection after the termination of their mateship. This is ridiculous.” Cora said to her mind and couldn’t believe what she had heard and thought of.
“I mean, she’s now our business competency.” Norwan corrected Cora, and Drixie looked at him.
“What do you mean?” Drixie asked and put down her wine glass.
Norwan just sighed, leaned to the couch, and crossed his legs.
“She just signed the termination of partnership earlier,” Norwan said. He couldn’t stop telling them this because he knew that even if he hid it, Drixie had their own way of learning and discovering what truly happened.
“She did?” Drixie said, and just like Norwan, it seems like she couldn’t accept that thing; Drixie knows that because of Natalie’s family business, Norwan's business grows, and she also knows that terminating the partnership between the two of them will cause a considerable conflict not only to their business but also to their family name.
“That’s good to know,” Cora said, which caused the siblings to look at her.
“What do you mean?” Drixie asked Cora while her forehead was frowning.
Cora chuckles. “Terminating their partnership with our business equals having no connection to that woman. Norwan could finally do whatever he wanted for his business. After all, her father always commands Norwan about what to do to his own business, right?” Cora said, so Drixie rolled her eyes.
“This has nothing to do with their past, Cora. This is all about our name and our business name.” Drixie said, which caused Cora to stop and frown. She couldn’t understand what was happening and why suddenly Drixie said those words. Cora thinks that Natalie finally cut the connection to Norw, and she can have Norwan wholly.
“Did mom know about it already?” Drixie asked Norwan. He shook his head to answer her question. Drixie stood up from her seat and grabbed her phone.
“I will call Mom and inform her of this. She will surely come here and talk to you.” She said and started to walk away from the two while dialing her mother’s number.
On the other hand, Natalie is smiling while looking at the paper before her.
“These are all the contracts of investor who would like to transfer their investment to us and surely wanted to terminate their contract with Norwan’s business.” Her assistant said that Natalie looked at her assistant before looking at her friend, Lynn.
“I told you, this will work,” Natalie said to her friend, who was smiling at her and happy to know that her plan worked.
“You may leave us now,” Natalie said to her assistant and looked back at the papers before her.
“Now, what is your next plan?” Lynn asked and poured wine into the glasses in front of her.
“I’m sure Amanda will know what happened to his son’s business and try to talk to me afterward; if not, she will do something to break our business down,” Natalie said, leaning in her chair.
“That Amanda is surely that bitch to do that,” Lynn said and gave Natalie her wine glass. Natalie accepts it and smirks.
“If that happens, then I have a plan now,” Natalie said, sipping her wine.
