Chapter 97 Please Calm Down Everyone
Quinn's POV
I blinked my eyes several times. So Mrs. Talon... liked it?
Like Grayson said. No comment means... she likes it?
Oh my god, I felt like I was flying to the seventh heaven. It was like a miracle.
And while I was busy watching Mrs. Talon, that's when Grayson nudged my foot.
Although he didn't say anything, I knew it was a signal for me to answer the question.
I took a deep breath. "I became Grayson's therapist at Frost Maple. I met Grayson when I visited Frost Maple for the first time. At that time, he was at the rink for practice," I replied, trying to remember as closely as possible what happened at that time.
Grayson suddenly grabbed my free hand. "I fell in love with her first. At that first meeting, I decided to love her because she was my fated mate."
I almost choked when I heard this from Grayson. I mean, I didn't know that he fell in love first. Because I thought I was the first.
So now Grayson was indirectly admitting that he had loved me from the first time we met? And what was the meaning of all his behavior all this time? To trap me by his side? Oh, he was really crazy. I would lecture him about this later.
"I kept getting closer to Quinn. I tried everything I could to get her," Grayson continued.
"You're lying. I've never seen you chase after women. Not even with Kelly, whom you loved so much."
Hearing Kelly's name mentioned immediately signaled to me that this conversation was going to be very serious and tense.
And sure enough. Grayson then let go of my hand and put his taco back on the plate.
"Don't bring up my past here, ma. My love for Kelly was just a typical teenage crush, and it ended ten years ago. Kelly is not my fated mate. So, of course, I wouldn't try as hard as I'm trying with Quinn."
Grayson then turned to me. "I know Quinn is meant for me. That's why I'm pursuing her. I've been waiting for her all this time. You yourself know that I've been waiting for my fated mate. And now I've brought her to you. So you should be happy and thank me."
"That's just your excuse. I know you're using the word 'fated mate' to get me to agree with your wishes. But she's not really that. Ms. Roux is just a young woman who's tempted by everything you offer her. Am I right?"
Grayson clenched the tablecloth tightly. "What do I have to do to make you believe me? Do I have to make love with Quinn in front of you and get her pregnant right now so you'll believe me?"
"Grayson!"
I was surprised because Mrs. Talon and I said it at the same time. We then glanced at each other and Mrs. Talon exhaled.
"I wouldn't have brought Quinn here if it weren't true. Because I know you would only ruin her life afterwards," Grayson said sternly.
"I wouldn't oppose you if she weren't human, Grayson," said Mrs. Talon, not to be outdone.
"Maybe you don't believe me because I haven't introduced Quinn to the public yet, right? If Quinn hadn't stopped me, I would have done it already, and it would have shocked you even more, Mom. Not just you, Dad too."
Both mother and son were stubborn. They wanted to be heard, but no one was willing to listen. And if this was left unchecked, it would only get worse.
Therefore, I finally spoke up again. "Mrs. Talon, I apologize for Grayson's harsh words. He just couldn't find the right words to express himself. He was only trying to reveal the truth. And I want to confirm that it is true. I forbade him from informing the media as he promised several years ago."
Mrs. Talon looked at me with bulged eyes. "I didn't ask you to speak, Ms. Roux."
"Everyone has the right to speak, ma. Especially since Quinn is the one you're cornering here," replied Grayson.
Oh my god, I wanted to shut Grayson up at least for a moment until the situation calmed down. He was really adding fuel to the fire in this already heated situation.
"Okay, so what I can gather from your explanation is that you had an illicit relationship with your therapist. But because you didn't want it to cause her problems, you ended up lying that she was your fated mate. You didn't introduce her to the public because you didn't want her to be vilified for your illicit relationship. Is that right?"
Grayson ran his fingers through his hair, looking frustrated. "Believe it or not, ma. That's the truth. I don't really care if you don't believe me as long as Quinn is with me." He suddenly pulled my arm. "Let's go. Forget about the gift."
I shook my head and pulled Grayson's hand away from my arm. I rubbed his hand gently. "Calm down first. I'll catch up with you. Okay?"
Grayson glanced at his mother. "I won't leave you alone with her."
I blinked several times and clicked my tongue softly as a signal to Grayson. "I'll try to calm things down. Don't worry. I'll be fine with your mother," I whispered.
Grayson didn't want to let go of me at first. He watched his mother intently. They were engaged in a cold war. But then, after I hugged him, he finally let go of my hand.
He sighed. "Okay, I'll wait for you in my room for 10 more minutes. After that, we'll go home."
I nodded. "Okay, I'll make good use of that time. Now you'd better calm down and get everything ready. And don't throw away the gift or you'll be fasting for a whole week. Do you understand?"
Grayson pursed his lips but then nodded. "Yeah." He then hugged me once more.
I pinched his thigh on the side that Mrs. Talon couldn't see. "You naughty boy. You have to apologize to your mother after this. No refusals or you'll have to deal with my wrath."
Grayson frowned and then rubbed the thigh I had pinched. But after that, he really left, leaving me and his mother alone.
