Chapter 82 Surprise
Quinn's POV
"Oh, your cheeks turned red," said Grayson. He pointed at my cheeks with a smile still on his face.
I quickly covered my face with the paper bag I was still holding. "Don't lie. Hurry up and go back with the others."
"Ummm, wait a minute. Don't go anywhere, stay here, okay?"
"Where are you going?" I asked curiously.
"I'm gonna take care of a few things first. The important thing is, don't leave. I'll be back as soon as possible."
"Oh, okay. Hurry back."
Grayson then ran off, with the flower bouquet still in his hand.
Ah, too late. I should have warned him not to carry the flower bouquet because people would definitely ask him where he got it.
But I don't think I could bring myself to take the bouquet back. He seemed to love it so much that he hugged it like a baby.
Grayson, Grayson. He's a unique man, really.
He kept his promise. In less than five minutes, he was back. This time, he even brought a thick coat.
Without waiting for my approval, he put the coat on my shoulders. "So you won't be cold. I heard the first snow is coming today."
"Oh, really? Is that true?"
"Yes, I saw the weather forecast."
I smiled slightly. "Then it will be a beautiful night."
"I agree with you. It will be a beautiful and memorable night," replied Grayson. He then kissed the flower and his cheeks turned red afterwards.
I chuckled softly. "Stop it. You're like a child who just got a new toy."
"Let it be. These are special flowers from a special person."
I could only shake my head.
Seeing him happy made me happy too. My heart felt full seeing him smile like that.
At least I could give him a little happiness after everything he had been through. At least I could bring out a genuine smile and laughter from someone who was labeled as cold and heartless.
I felt so proud and had no regrets at all about following him here.
"Thank you for the coat, too," I said then. I tightened this big coat around me. Even though it was big, the most important thing now was that I was no longer cold.
Suddenly, Grayson took my hand. "Now, come with me. I'll take you to a beautiful place."
"Where? What if other people see us? Are you even allowed to do this?"
"I've asked for permission and received it. If other people see us, just let them. If they take pictures of us, I'll ask them to delete it immediately."
I remained where I was. "Where are we going? Tell me."
"Unfortunately, I can't tell you. But I'm sure you won't regret it."
I could only resign myself when Grayson took my hand and led me into a taxi. For some reason, I felt very safe with him. So I didn't question where we were going anymore. Instead, I enjoyed his expression along the way.
"Be careful. Hold my hand tightly," Grayson reminded me.
I did as he said.
We were currently boarding a river cruise located not far from the arena. Grayson said he had until tomorrow before moving to another city and he wanted to take advantage of tonight to go for a walk to relax his mind.
But I still didn't think that what he meant by relaxing his mind was having dinner here. I mean, this place is quite crowded and I was worried that someone would spot us and that could have a bad influence on him.
"Actually, I don't want to mention someone who isn't here. But I want to put your mind at ease. If the media reports on us, then I will order Kelly to take care of it. Consider it compensation for the losses I've incurred."
Ah, Grayson was right. He could ask Kelly, whose family controlled the media, for help. But still, if possible, it was better not to be caught on camera and not to bother other people.
"Dinner is still being prepared. Before that, we'll watch the fireworks show first," explained Grayson.
I rounded my eyes. "There's a fireworks show?"
"Yeah. Do you like fireworks?"
"I love them. Usually, I can only see them during New Year's celebrations. But in recent years, I haven't been able to watch them because I work the night shift."
Grayson suddenly put his arm around my shoulder. "But now you'll see them. No need to wait for New Year's. If you want, I can take you to see them every day."
I pushed him aside. "No need. That's a waste."
"If it's to make someone I love happy, it's not a waste. It's an investment."
I sneered and rolled my eyes. But inside, I was actually screaming with joy. It was like a dream come true.
I had hoped to watch fireworks in a beautiful place with the man I liked. I didn't expect to be able to experience it now, and it was more than I had hoped for.
"Oh by the way, would you mind telling me how you got to the arena? I mean, what made you decide to watch today’s game?"
I stared straight ahead at the bright city lights. "I figured there was no harm in coming. Besides, I haven't watched team games in a long time. Well, even though I don't work at Frost Maple anymore, I still support them."
"Because of me?"
I reflexively turned to Grayson and shook my head. "Because Frost Maple is Dylan's favorite team."
"Oh, I see. But why didn't I see Dylan?"
I hated it when Grayson asked a lot of questions. Because inevitably, I would end up cornered like this.
"The point is, I came here because I wanted to come here. Regardless of the reason, the main thing is that I wanted to watch my brother's favorite team play."
"Okay, okay, I believe you. I bet Dylan also told you to give me the bouquet. Am I right?"
What? Hey, the bouquet is from me. I bought them from a flower shop that was about to close because the owner also wanted to watch the game today.
Ah, never mind, I'm too lazy to explain. Now I'm already in a bad mood.
"I was just joking, Quinn. Please forgive me, okay?"
I turned away and crossed my arms. But then what Grayson said really left me speechless.
"I truly believe these bouquet are from you because of their deep meaning. Orange tulips symbolize enthusiasm, victory, and hope. In other words, I'm getting a second chance, right?"
